I'm still suffering from the same problem with FSC Pi1536 (Codec: Realtek ALC889A) in Maverick. (it didn't work with Karmic and Lucid too). If I put options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu in alsa-base.conf file volume wheel does NOT work and also plugging headphones does not mute speakers. The only models I have found to work decently (which mute the speakers when headphones are plugged) are lenovo-nb0763 and fujitsu-pi2515, and volume wheel does not work with them either. Any suggestions? Based on the linked bug reports in Alsa, it looks like the issue should have been fixed on the latest HG tree [1]. Can you confirm the fix in an 8.10 alpha, Pavel? Jonas, can you please provide the output of lspsci -vvn? If your sound card is identical to the one in the m1437g, I think we can mark the bug as fixed. FSC Amilo Li 2727 alsa input MIC jack and earphone jack sensing [mute reverses built in speakers] does not work on a default 8.04 install. It failed with 3stack and toshiba, but works with the acer option, it has Codec: Realtek ALC268 (from /proc/asound/card0/codec#). Same problem on my fujitsu siemens amilo PI1556 laptop in Feisty 20070415. xev, showkey and tail -f /var/log/kern.log shows nothing when I turn the volume knob on the side of the laptop. it works fine in Windows XP. Thanks Andrew, I've now tried showkey in console and tailing the kernel log, no output there either. I have the same issue on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M3438G, the volume wheel works in Windows, not in Ubuntu and it doesn't generate anything with xev. Using FN+volume up/down works as it should, as does media keys on external keyboard.
