[Bug 655071] Re: Gigabyte M1305 keyboard and touchpad

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eshwar Andhavarapu, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 655071] Re: Gigabyte M1305 keyboard and touchpad

2010-12-19 Thread Jiří Zlonický
Hi,
i'v found workaround for the repeating keys problem. After months searching for
some kernel parameter a decided to minimize the repeating and set keyboard
delay on higher value (timeout after them the repetaing starts). And surprise -
problem disappeared totaly.
I'm using openSuse. The parameter
KBD_DELAY=500
is set in
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard
(To low default is 250. Other posible and functioning values are 750 and 1000.]

kbd servis then makes:
KBD_TTY=tty1 tty2 tty3 tty4 tty5 tty6
for tty in $KBD_TTY; do
/bin/kbdrate -d $KBD_DELAY $tty 2 /dev/null
done

(ie it sets the value for all nongraphical ttys)

[Bug 655071] Re: Gigabyte M1305 keyboard and touchpad

2010-10-18 Thread Eshwar Andhavarapu
Ok just tested with 2.6.36-999 and the problem exists. I'll need to get
you those logs as you requested though.

In the meantime i have noticed one more problem. The built in dual
microphone system works with gnome-sound-recorder but does not work in
other applications e.g. skype. In Sound Preferences, the input level
should fluctuate when speaking but it doesn't.

I tried adding some options to alsa-base.conf you know the 'snd-hda-
intel model= ' kind of options that are relevant to the ALC269 chipset.
Each of them exposed different options in the Input section but none
worked to fix it. Not sure what I can test there for you.

Thanks!

I read somewhere that different configurations/ GRUB boot options are

Anyway, the discussion seems to be centered around input devices having

Problems/teething trouble experienced when ubuntu maverick 64-bit is
installed:
  1. Touchpad is not recongized. fixed by adding i8042.noloop option.
  2. sometimes key characters continue repeating even if the key is nor pressed
down. it is more of a problem when typing in web addresses because then
suddenly the character pressed starts repeating and only stops when another
character is pressed. it might also be fixable by a grub option but I am not
sure what to try.

That's about it. can provide more info as requested.

[Bug 655071] Re: Gigabyte M1305 keyboard and touchpad

2010-10-18 Thread Eshwar Andhavarapu
ok steps to reproduce:
1. if i8042.noloop is NOT passed as an option in grub, then the touchpad does
NOT work.
2. if it is passed, then the touchpad works.

that's it. Upstream kernel has the same problem/workaround.

2010-10-16 Thread Eshwar Andhavarapu
i've got all my packages updated. so that means i should have all the
maverick release packages. i've also got proposed updated enabled.
anyway, i'll test again with the existing options by taking out the
i8042.noloop setting. and then will do so with the mainline kernel which
i see is 2.6.33-rc8 right now

[Bug 655071] Re: Gigabyte M1305 keyboard and touchpad

2010-10-15 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Eshwar,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run
the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal).
It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 655071

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
