Hi Pascal, According to the alsa-info report, internal mic is muted, can you please try the following: start alsamixer in a terminal with this command: "alsamixer -D hw:Intel" * Navigate to the "Internal Mic" and make sure it's not muted (press the "M" button to toggle) * Navigate to "Internal Mic Boost" and make sure it's all the way up * There are two "Input Source" controls, make sure they're both set to "Internal Mic". Then try again. If this does not help, there is one more thing to try. Since BIOS doesn't announce that there is a mic at all, this is a shot in the dark, but let's assume that they connected it to the other mic input on the codec. So here's a package to test. To test, do the following: 1) Make sure you don't have any ALSA driver overrides installed (such as the ones here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules ). 2) Download and install this package: http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-diwic-et1602-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb 3) Reboot 4) Test. The question is not dump at all, for what i know the mic should be there, i see a little hole just near the webcam, and the logic would suggest that for a flat screen pc with built-in webcam a front mic would be a obvious choice.
