[Bug 659154] Re: intel video external monitor resolution problem

2011-04-27 Thread bugbot
Hey uvaio,

Thanks for your interest in Ubuntu.

Thanks for testing maverick during its development period.
Unfortunately it looks like this bug report didn't get attention during
the maverick development period. But I see there's not been more
comments on the bug since the release, which makes me wonder if this is
still an issue for you?

If you've not seen this issue since maverick's release yourself, it may
have been solved by kernel or X or other updates that occurred late in
the release; if so, would you mind please closing the bug for us? Go to
the URL mentioned in this bug report, click the yellow icon(s) in the
status column and set to 'Fix Released'.

If you no longer have the hardware needed to reproduce the problem, or
otherwise feel the bug no longer needs tracked in Launchpad, you can set
the status to 'Invalid'.

If you are the original reporter and still have this issue, just reply
to this email saying so. (Or set the bug status to Confirmed.) If you
are able to re-test this against 11.04 Natty Narwhal (our current
development focus) and find the issue still affects Natty, please also
run 'apport-collect ' while running natty, which will add
fresh logs and debug data, and flag it for the Ubuntu-X development team
to look at.

[Bug 659154] Re: intel video external monitor resolution problem

2011-04-27 Thread bugbot
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

  Hi,

I'm using external monitor. It is detected correctly including
resolution modes. As default both monitor shows same resolution as
internal LCD native one and mirror mode is active. However when I
uncheck mirror mode and change resolution of external monitor using
preferences/monitors utility to anything else, external monitor shows
only portion of screen in left upper corner about same size as it was
showing before change, rest of the screen is black. Resolution was
changed because I can see smaller icons and bottom tool-bar is not
visible. It just shows part of it. The main laptop LCD shows nothing at
all if no mirror mode is active.

I tried also video driver from ppa:glasen/intel-driver. I could change
resolution of both monitors independently, but windows of all open
programs appeared as they were behind transparent shadow making them
very difficult to see. Only desktop, panels and gnome-terminal were
clear. All other programs were shadowed.

Is there some other driver I could use or workaround for any of these 2
  drivers?

  Thanks

[Bug 659154] Re: intel video external monitor resolution problem

2010-10-18 Thread Matthew Carroll
I believe I'm seeing this same bug. Mirrored both screens show the full
visable area. Non-mirrored, 1 or both screens show only part of the area
that should be visible. A work-around (although very much not ideal) for
me seems to be to position the laptop screen below the external screen
in the layout. However, it should be to the side (same as the relative
position of the screens on my desk).

This problem (assuming it is the same bug) is discussed here:
