[Bug 662069] Re: skype support
I don't think, but skype will release soon a new skype API, which goal is exactly this : being able to adapt any interface very easyly on Skype. Actually, it exists skypeforpidgin, but it required skype to be started, with the usual interface. The new API will permit any interface to use skype functionalities, without having the whole skype client installed. It's actually in a closed beta state, but should be released very soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662069 Title: skype support -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 662069] Re: skype support
I'm curious, are there any on-going efforts to develop a telepathy connection manager for Skype? I've seen fleeting references to something called telepathy-spirit, although it would seem that this is/was a closed sourced project run by Nokia (bad form!) and as such is only available for Maemo/ARM. Frankly I'm getting rather fed up using Skype's own client and the telepathy-haze/libpurple workarounds are tedious and feature incomplete (no audio/video calls!). So the sooner an official telepathy connection manager for Skype appears the better (SIP simply isn't as widespread, and trying to convince a Windows/Skype user to switch to a SIP provider is like pulling teeth) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662069 Title: skype support -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

For Pidgin they did something similar to that, (http://code.google.com/p/skype4pidgin/) but the bad point is that you need to have Skype running as well. -- skype support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662069 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
