I have similar problem with my 8.04: everything looks great until the moment when I insert the empty CD and try to actually burn it. Then it just keeps asking for an empty disk even when I have one in the drive. That bug is fixed. I've tried the same copy operation, and I get the same error. I'm attaching a series of screenshots as evidence. Using Ubuntu 8.10. Now it simply errors out before writing to the blank disk. I hear the drive spin up, then the error occurs and I'm prompted to make another copy or close the dialogue. Experiencing this in 8.04.1. The audio CD copy doesn't work in a normal CD player, but can be read as an audio CD by Rhythmbox 0.11.5. k3b 1.0.4 has the same problem, I assume it's also using cdrdao. Tried GnomeBaker 0.6.2 which worked, and the log displays indicates wodim is being used. I apparently have the same problem: I insert an audio CD and a writeable CD. Then I choose the Copy Disc entry from the audio CD contextual menu. The process of copying and writing completes without signalling any errors, but the resulting CD cannot be read either by Ubuntu or by my DVD reader, which says it is a "VCD 1.0" disk, but does not play it. My cd - player says no disc when I insert the copied disc and Ubuntu doesn't + Cloning of a data cd works fine, but copied audio cd's don't work. My cd + player says 'no disc' when I insert the copied disc and Ubuntu doesn't recognize the disc either. I even tried this with a disc that I have succesfully copied using Dapper, but it didn't work this time. Then I tried to create an iso file from the disc (by selecting 'File image' from the 'Copy disc to' -dialog) and it seemed to work, but when I tried to select the iso-file and burn it to disc I got a notification saying: 'Unable to create CD/DVD. The file ... is not a valid disc image.' From bug #31574 I learned how to see the output from the iso-file creating process and I enclose it as an attachment. Hope it helps to figure out where things go wrong. And one final thing: When I select File image as the target and hit Write I then get a Save in folder -dialog where I can choose Browse and select where to save the iso file. In this point, if I get second thoughts and select Cancel, things go wrong again... After selecting Cancel the application should exit gracefully, but instead I get Copying Disc to a Disc image -window, but there is nothing in the window.
