Thanks for following up. The configuration file is shipped with the package apcupsd. On Ubuntu 8.10, the same problem still occurs. Same stacktrace and all. Unfortunately the abovementioned "apcupsd.conf" doesn't exist, not in the mentioned directory, nor anywhere else. I'm confirming this issue because regarding the changelog the package has not been updated since Sat, 5 Jul 2005. To resolve this error, simply edit the following file: sudo vim /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf Change "STATTIME" to some value greater than zero (0).
