[Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
I've uninstalled and reinstalled libdvdcss w/ different versions of libdvdread3. It didn't work w/ the version in feisty (hence my bug report title "no css dvd's work in feisty") but it did work w/ the version in edgy (which is what I have pinned in apt right now). As I'm overseas right now and have no access to my DVDs, I can't test to see if this is still the issue. -- no css dvd's work in feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/77097 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

how would I have filed a bug report "no css dvd's work in feisty" if I wasn't running feisty? the bug that was fixed wasn't the bug that I filed, albiet somewhat related. I HAD libdvdcss already installed. The bug I filed was that the newest version of libdvdread3 in feisty DID NOT WORK with libdvdcss. what am I not being clear about? -- no css dvd's work in feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/77097 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
in feisty the libdvdread3 file was missing the CSS script thus the end user could not play certain files. a fix should be released according the bug report. You would have to install feisty and see if the package in question has been updated. If it has not then you will have to manually install package. At least till the one in the repo is updated. Re: [Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
That maybe the case for you, however. the current version of feisty had the *script* removed from the package thus rendering the installing useless to the end user. That is what i was bringing to the dev's attention. As for dvd's running them on a clean edgy install they ran fine for me,however. I'm not sure if you can do a clean install, and retest. this would at least allow you to find out if the issue was due to your dist-upgrading from dapper to edgy. If one read my comments, it wasn't an issue of not having libdvdcss installed as it was (from edgy or dapper days). [Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
Its possible that the upgrade to Feisty caused the installed css to no longer function and produce the problem. Then when you reinstalled the package from Edgy (Which contains the CSS installer) everything would once again be ok. That said, the install-css.sh file really needs to be included in libdvdread3 within Feisty, particularly if it does break when upgrading from a previous version. As an alternative to using the Edgy package, it is sufficient to simply run the install-css.sh script (Attached) after installing the Feisty libdvdread3 package. ** Attachment added: "CSS installer script from Edgy package" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5780621/install-css.sh -- no css dvd's work in feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/77097 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty

Re: [Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
not true. I've upgraded this laptop from when it was running dapper. libcss was installed already, it was a libdvdread issue, when I downgraded to edgy's version (of libdvdread) it works perfectly. -- no css dvd's work in feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/77097 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty
I can confirm this with the current version of libdvdread3 in Feisty (0.9.7-2); I was able to work around it by installing a package from Edgy (0.9.6-3ubuntu1). ** Changed in: libdvdread (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- no css dvd's work in feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/77097 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
