I removed everything related to evolution in my home directory and killed gconfd, restarted and then I got contacts loaded. It took about 30 minutes. For a while everything seemed to work, although slow. But now the address book is dying again. Sometimes it just hangs. Did a fresh install of Natty and things are better. So there was something wrong with my upgraded system. Now I can see my calendar entries. But I do not have the GAL. In first session it tried to cache all 4 entries and crashed. After that it tries to open and then says The Evolution address book has died unexpectedly Iit seems to die after variable number of contacts (35 000 - 37 000) found.
