[Bug 774918] Re: Suspend does not work on Dell XPS 17 L702X
Zordid, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . However, note you can only test Suspend, not Hibernate, when using a LiveCD. If the issue remains, run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal) as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux BUGNUMBER Additionally, if you could try to reproduce this with the upstream mainline kernel that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing resume suspend -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774918 Title: Suspend does not work on Dell XPS 17 L702X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/774918/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 774918] Re: Suspend does not work on Dell XPS 17 L702X
I just tried it again after a fresh boot - and it worked. It is not 100% reproducable, but I've seen it several times - enough to know that suspend is not really reliable. And that's the worst impression such a function can give since it means that I can never be sure and always have to close/save all work before trying it. :-( What can I do AFTER it happened to give you any clues about this issue?? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774918 Title: Suspend does not work on Dell XPS 17 L702X -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is this issue consistently reproducible? Does it still happen when you boot with max_cpus=1 on the Linux kernel command line? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774918 Title: Suspend does not work on Dell XPS 17 L702X -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
