Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I have the same bug with the --joymap argument on Ubuntu 8.10

[Bug 84767] Re: feisty joystick problem

2007-09-03 Thread mikko sorri
Other solution:
sudo gedit /etc/snes9x/snes9x.conf

add:

[Unix/X11 Controls]
EnableJoystick = TRUE
Joydev1 = /dev/input/js0
J00:Axis0 = Joypad1 Axis Left/Right T=50%
J00:Axis1 = Joypad1 Axis Up/Down T=50%
J00:B2 = Joypad1 A
J00:B1 = Joypad1 B
J00:B3 = Joypad1 X
J00:B0 = Joypad1 Y
J00:B4 = Joypad1 L
J00:B5 = Joypad1 R
J00:B9 = Joypad1 Start
J00:B8 = Joypad1 Select

These are the right values for my gamepad, Logitech Dual Action. The right
values can be found in Configure Button Maps. For me the line is -joydev1 2 1
3 0 4 5 9 8 but snes9xexpress doesn't work direct. So the numbers have to been
added to the config file, B2, B1, B3, B0 and so on. After that I have to only
select Use Joystick box and add /dev/input/js0 to Pad1. And NOT use
Configure Button Maps again.

2007-08-24 Thread fabien26
The solution is to return back to 1.43 snes9x version because 1.51 don't
include -joymap argument ... and -joymap is required for a good mapping
of the most of joysticks ...

The bug is not of snes9express ...

[Bug 84767] Re: feisty joystick problem

2007-02-21 Thread mikko sorri
Thank you. I didn't know where's the config file. But now buttons are
right.

But the problem is still there with snes9express, joystick doesn't work
at all. I think in snes9express the command should be -joydev1 #path to
joystick#, not -joydev1 #button maps#

When you say you don't know how to modify that file are you saying you
don't know how to open it or what to put in there?

To open do the following in a gnome-terminal window

sudo gedit /etc/snes9x/snes9x.conf

number for the package bumped. I am attaching this for your convenience

I think snes9express needs the -joydev1 /dev/input/js0 option, and I tested it
works. But how to map the buttons??

snes9express finds joystick but still doesn't find..

What do you mean by this?

The buttons are mapped using the configuration portion of the joystick
part. To be honest I think that snes9express is a sinking ship. With the
patch above it should call snes9x as you are describing though.

If you start snes9express and go to the controllers tab there is an option
called Configure Button Maps. That should do it for you.

2007-02-19 Thread mikko sorri
man snes9x tells there should be -joymap option

-joymap1 8 numbers
You can assign the buttons by giving eight number from 0 to 7. Default Map is:
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7, which corresponds to A B X Y TL TR Start Select.

but if I add -joymap1 2 1 3 0 4 5 9 8 -option in terminal, error message says
nothing about -joymap. only -joydev is mentioned.

have someone deleted the -joymap option..

[Bug 84767] Re: feisty joystick problem

2007-02-19 Thread mikko sorri
Yes, in edgy it worked. But now, if I use your deb and do the Configure
Button Maps, game starts but joystick doesn't work.

But, if I edit in terminal -joydev1 2 1 3 0 4 5 9 8 to -joydev1
/dev/input/js0 option, joystick works, but buttons are wrong.

-joydev1 /dev/input/js0 2 1 3 0 4 5 9 8 works, but buttons are still
wrong

And with -joydev1 /dev/input/js0 -joymap1 2 1 3 0 4 5 9 8 option, error message
I attached above.

It's sinking ship maybe, but it (snes9x) gives me much more speed in my machine
than zsnew..
zsnew is awful.

[Bug 84767] Re: feisty joystick problem

2007-02-12 Thread mikko sorri
if I set joystick to /dev/input/js0, my usb gamepad works partly,
rotation ok, but buttons not.

After controllers/configure button maps snes9express doesn't start.
error message attached.

snes9express's command:
snes9x -r 7 -y -joydev1 /dev/input/js0 -joymap1 2 1 3 0 4 5 9 8
/home/yhteiset/emu-pelit/nintendo/Super Mario All Stars World.smc

It works ok without -joymap -option

In edgy snes9express worked perfectly after changing joystick address to
/dev/input/js0 and configure button maps.
