P.S. Thanks for your comment about Ubuntu! For me as a developer one of my favorite things about Ubuntu is that I get to interact directly with real people who use it everyday, and it's a great feeling to help a person solve a problem that they are having. Many fixes have been made since then and it's very possible that this issue has been resolved for you. Hi Gary, I help many of my friends with their software, which is presumably where I came across the Brother printer. I can't even remember who has this printer, as I do not. I use the Software Center quite frequently and haven't had other problems with it, so let's just kill this bug. On of the very nice things about Ubuntu is that when an issue comes up, someone actually makes the effort to try to solve it. I used to be a Windows user and the world is very different there - I tried to report a bug and finally gave up because it was too difficult. Keep up the good work.
