[Bug 85946] Re: Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent

2007-12-20 Thread dAniel hAhler
I'm closing this bug.
The Directory nonexistent error itself should be fixed in Hardy (see bug
107820).

Just because the Directory nonexistent handling is better does not mean that
CPU frequency scaling is supported.
If you still get CPU frequency scaling not supported during boot or with
sudo invoke-rc.d powernowd restart, then please report a new bug and include
the output of:
$ uname -a
$ sudo modprobe -r powernow-k8
$ sudo modprobe powernow-k8
$ dmesg | grep powernow

There will be different reasons why it fails and it's likely to be a
kernel issue then. So, please include the kernel info (uname -a) and
try it with Ubuntu Hardy, if you can (e.g. booting from the LiveCD).

Thank you.

[Bug 85946] Re: Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent

2007-12-16 Thread westurner
I'm also running x86/i386 of ubuntu gutsy 7.10. running 1.8ghz amd
athlon xp with 512mb ddr on asus a7n8x mobo

powernow is not functioning for me as it states in my previous post. i
don't remember where I found it, but I commented out a few lines of
script that leads to the error message.

Now it just reports * CPU frequency scaling not supported

If this refers to something in the bios, my mobo bios/pheonixbios
doesn't support it. i fiddled with changing os/2, but no change.

Still error, but ignoring. It doesn't hurt anything, but it's just
annoying.

2007-12-06 Thread dAniel hAhler
It seems like all of you are using an amd64 kernel. So this looks like
bug 111375.

Can you confirm this?

Please provide the output of:
$ sudo modprobe -r powernow-k8
$ sudo modprobe powernow-k8
$ dmesg | grep powernow

Any updates on this bug? I can attest that I have it too! *cough*
*cough*

Also no cpufreq directories and/or subdirectories. Running Ubuntu Gutsy

Output:

$ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/

Should I try cpudyn or another? Don't want to crash, I've been doing
enough of that lately.
