[Bug 85946] Re: Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent
I'm closing this bug. The Directory nonexistent error itself should be fixed in Hardy (see bug 107820). Just because the Directory nonexistent handling is better does not mean that CPU frequency scaling is supported. If you still get CPU frequency scaling not supported during boot or with sudo invoke-rc.d powernowd restart, then please report a new bug and include the output of: $ uname -a $ sudo modprobe -r powernow-k8 $ sudo modprobe powernow-k8 $ dmesg | grep powernow There will be different reasons why it fails and it's likely to be a kernel issue then. So, please include the kernel info (uname -a) and try it with Ubuntu Hardy, if you can (e.g. booting from the LiveCD). Thank you. ** Changed in: powernowd (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 85946] Re: Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent
I'm also running x86/i386 of ubuntu gutsy 7.10. running 1.8ghz amd athlon xp with 512mb ddr on asus a7n8x mobo powernow is not functioning for me as it states in my previous post. i don't remember where I found it, but I commented out a few lines of script that leads to the error message. Now it just reports * CPU frequency scaling not supported If this refers to something in the bios, my mobo bios/pheonixbios doesn't support it. i fiddled with changing os/2, but no change. Still error, but ignoring. It doesn't hurt anything, but it's just annoying. -- Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 85946] Re: Error in powernowd startup script, Directory nonexistent
It seems like all of you are using an amd64 kernel. So this looks like bug 111375. Can you confirm this?
