[Bug 881999] Re: USB flash drives not recognised
James, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881999 Title: USB flash drives not recognised To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/881999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 881999] Re: USB flash drives not recognised
Hi Joseph, Thank you so much for your time. I installed the 3.1.0... Kernel, image and headers. it would not boot at all, it just "hung" the computer. Interestingly, after that, some of my USB flash drives started to work with the 2.6.32-34-generic-pae kernel... Hello Joseph, Thanks for this advice, but as far as I can see there is no "i386" in the list of the latest kernel headers, am I reading it wrong? But I am already upgrading to 10.04 because of other issues. I expect the problem to remain as it existed before, when I was previously running 10.04, 10.10 & 11.04...
