I'll admit that I didn't put a huge amount of effort trying to get from one monitor to another. I saw it was stuck, which is no good for me, so I gave up. I am going from one monitor to the other all the time. The best example is Netbeans where I have my source code spread over both monitors and I need to get to all sources easily. So the sticky business is definitely not for me. Thanks for explaining what it is supposed to do. It isn't a bug, but for me, a serious annoyance. Unfortunately it still isn't there for Hebrew. I attached a screen dump where I have cropped it to show the right hand side of screen 1 and all of screen 2. You can see that the icons have moved to the right hand side of screen 1 - where it would have been more logical to be on the right hand side of screen 2. I have the curson on the top icon and its tool tip is on screen 2, a whole screen away from the cursor. If I look at Hebrew on Unity, the icons are in the same position as in English (on the left hand side of screen 1). The tool tips are also there. This is perfectly acceptable to me as a user. If you want to switch the icons to the right hand side, then they need to be on screen 2, where the tool tips presently appear. BTW, the one thing which is currently better in Unity-2D is the high contrast mode. In Unity the icons are UGLY!!! In Unity-2D they are very reasonable. Please let me know if and when you want to me to check Unity-2D again. I looked around and I don't see where I can choose where the icons are shown. If I could really choose, I would choose they should be displayed on the left side of monitor 1, just like it is done in Unity. It would seem rather annoying if I had to switch monitors as well when I switch to Hebrew as the main language. It wouldn't be a big problem since you need to do it very infrequently. On the other hand trying to remember how the devil I switch monitors would also be a problem for something I do very infrequently. (Just my 2 cents on the problem.) Yes, as of 12.04. What is really wierd is if I set Sticky edges to ON, then I can't move my cursor from monitor to monitor. I really suspect this is a bug but I haven't yet reported it. The main reason being is that I don't know what it is SUPPOSED to do. Hi Gerry, I am not familiar with that command. It returns me Must specify alternating keys/values as arguments If I put it in as a string including false, it gives me No value to set for key: `false' I have 2 monitors: and I can't remember their individual resolutions. One is full HD and the second one a bit smaller. Ubuntu reports that I have a single monitor 3600*1080. I can't get the video card without opening the computer (i.e. I don't find it anyplace obvious). It is a GeForce card, bought within the last year. I bought it for the sole reason of supporting 2 monitors. Sorry that at the moment I can't be of more help, but I will be happy to do whatever I can from my end. Hi Ilan, I'm sorry, I messed up the copy paste. Try this: gconftool-2 --set --type bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false needed space between 'boo' and '/apps...'. You can reset your desktop to usual by switching the false to true. A single monitor of width 3600. Hmmm. I would be very interested to see what happens with the above command. Hi Gerry, OK, this time it did something, but nothing I could really see. The screen flashed but I didn't notice any real change. So then I switched to Hebrew and it came up the same way as in the screen shot. I went to Dash Home and tried Firefox. Firefox did come up, but that was the only thing I could get to come up. Libre Office refused to come up as well as a few other things I tried. In short, to my unscrutinizing eye, there was no change. Maybe if I knew to look for something specific, I might find a difference, but there was no obvious difference - to my eye at least. I will be happy to try to do anything else you want to try, but at the moment it is 11PM and time to turn off the computer.
