[Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the following commands in a terminal window: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released. If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add a tag named: bot-stop-nagging. Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: kernel-request-3.2.0-23.36 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919815 Title: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/919815/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Hi all, I have been having this same issue with my Acer AspireOne 722/Atheros wifi. My workaround has been to boot up while plugged into ethernet, then after I am logged in, switch to WiFi. The Netboot workaround works too (Thanks!), just thought I would add my experience. [Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Hi Fyodor, Many thanks for this. You saved my live ;-) Don't know why but until now with this BIOS change I have no furter freezes. I noticed a fan is running permanetely. But I am not sure if this was the case before I enabled Network boot option in BIOS. Only issue now is the message when BIOS message Network not availabel or so, because I had to enable Network boot and to set in BIOS boot order Network boot to the top. I think I can live with this workaround but it is worth no know why it works now! [Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Hi guys, I've managed to find a workaround for this problem on my 7250 laptop. Turning on Network boot feature in BIOS fixed the problem of freezes after login. [Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Hi Colin, Many thanks for your test kernel, but I got the screen freeze again :-( Additionally I installed Ubuntu 10.04 with current kernel 2.6.38.38 (I guess) and as I already said got no issue but desktop with low screen resolution and let's say old looking desktop. You support is very much appreciated. Hi Joerg Upstream commit 07445f688218a48bde72316aed9de4fdcc173131 may help, so I've built some test kernels for you to try. http://zinc.canonical.com/~cking/lp-919815 Please download the appropriate headers + kernel debs for your system (e.g. amd64, i386 or i386-pae) and install them (using sudo dpkg -i) and see if this helps. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919815 Title: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/919815/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
We've been looking around and cannot find any other users with this model seeing such an issue with that particular wifi hardware, so I'm wondering if it is a H/W related issue. Is it possible to see how this functions with a previous release, just in case its a H/W fault and not a regression with the latest kernel. Re: [Bug 919815] Re: Ubuntu freeze on battery after power on/off - blacklisting ath9k stops freeze
Hi Colin, I think this is not a HW issue. I will install 10.4.4 when I am back from hospital where I am now. I had this version up and running well beside grafic not in full resolution. Regards, Joerg -- Diese Nachricht wurde von meinem Android Mobiltelefon mit WEB.DE Mail gesendet.
