[Bug 93158] Re: Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 92042 *** Your problem was also reported by other users, therefore I am marking your bug report as a duplicate now. See the other report (bug 92042) for more info about the problem. It was caused by an attempt to improve the configuration facility for the backend. From cupsys_1.2.8-0ubuntu7 on it should all work again. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 92042 cupsys in feisty doesn't put any backends into /usr/lib/cups/backend/ -- Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected https://launchpad.net/bugs/93158 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Pascal, That did the trick detected and test page printed. Many thanks to all of you! [Bug 93158] Re: Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected
For some reason you have no cups backends activated. Note that package updating keeps the current backend configuration, so you need to activate the backends manually. Please activated the backends again with this command: $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure cupsys By default all backends should be activated, for your usb printer the usb backend should definitely be activated. -- Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected https://launchpad.net/bugs/93158 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 93158] Re: Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected
Ooops - in too much of a rush. I have tried re-installing the printer - it is no longer detected. I deleted it because all jobs were marked stopped after about a minute, with no actual output. Sometimes deleting and reinstalling works not this time. Prior to this problem I had not printed anything for a week or so. The Device Manager ( from Control panel) shows "Stylus CX6600" under USB Printer Interface. For what it is worth, I tried my Knoppix 5.1.1 boot CD and that detected the printer. ** Attachment added: "Correct file" http://librarian.launchpad.net/6853086/printingbuginfo.txt -- Epson cx6600 - stopped printing, now not detected https://launchpad.net/bugs/93158 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
