[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2009-03-02 Thread Jan Groenewald
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 234532 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234532

Confirmed on hardy 8.04.2 up to date.
openoffice.org-writer 2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1

docs, xls, and odt on the SSH share (via nautilus and connect To Server
do not open. they ask for the password again with an openoffice dialogue.
It seems even the correct passwords fail.

Then it says General Internet error has occured

As an aside, winscp from windows used to open these.
I am not sure it is related, but the files now have to
be dragged out of winscp to be opened properly.
Very strange, since that seems to point at it NOT being
an openoffice problem.

But other (not doc, xls, odt) files are opening fine
on the Linux desktop, it is only the offiice formats
with problems.

Similarly on the Linux desktop, dragging the files from
the SSH nautilus window to the desktop and then opening
works fine.

This problem still exists with OpenOffice 2.4 and Intrepid Ibex. I
cannot browse through a Nautilus ssh folder and open a document without
being prompted for a password and given a general internet error. Why
is this marked as being fixed?

[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2009-01-01 Thread the motorman
Just loaded Ubuntu on an older laptop ( dell D505) nothing else on it, new hard
drive. Everything works fine unless I try to access my other computer running
winXP ( yuck! ) via wireless link linksys.
I can see the files but when I try to open them up I get the OO startup then it
asks me for a password.
It also puts guest as the login name. I do not have anything protected as it's
my own network. If I try to enter a password ( I tried the one I use to open
Ubuntu ). I get first another identical window login guest and waiting for
password. At the second attempt it gives me a network error same as other posts
above.. I do not know what login or password OO is referring to ..I am a newbie
and excited to finally find Ubuntu.. thanks for any ideas I'll try them If I
get simple instructions.

[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2008-08-26 Thread Internux
having quiet the same problem on hardy with
1280:ii openoffice.org-base-core 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 [and
deps]

opening a smb shared file works [well... sometimes.], saving them often crashes
with I/O error, and replacing existing file is NOT possible...
only OOo has this problem. As far as I read things on google, this problem is
really an old one [smb/network file support in OOo), as there are threads on
forum dated from 2003 and on different Linux flavour [fedora, suse, ubuntu,
debian...]

[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2008-06-25 Thread John Kuang
i am experiencing the same problem. using nautilus to browse files on
remote computer via sftp, i then dbl click on openoffice files and a
dialog pop up asking for password, with my username already there. after
entering it, the same dialog opens up again, this time without my
username (no field to key username either), asking for password again.
key in password, then same thing happens. after a few tries, i get the
msg general internet error has occurred.

this password dialog works when browing openoffice files using nautilus
via samba, but not sftp.

could it be because i dont use port 22 for ssh? i switched ssh to use
another port on both remote and client computers. is there a way to
change the port that OO use for sftp?

[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2008-05-21 Thread Martin von Wittich
Same problem here, Hardy and OpenOffice 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6. I am opening a
document on a Samba share; the credentials are stored in my keyring and
they work if I i.e. use Nautilus to open the share. OpenOffice though
seems to ignore the keyring and I have to enter the credentials into
OpenOffice manually. They work though; as soon as I have entered the
credentials and the checkbox store until end of session is checked, I
don't have to enter them again until I logout.

2008-03-25 Thread Mauro Vale
I'm using Hardy 8.04, and I can browse samba shares, using my username
and password...

But if I try to open that share in Openoffice it asks me for a
Username/Password and I cant open anything :(

Openoffice doesn't accept any username/password I insert in the box...

In the office there is more 10 ubuntu boxes with 7.10 working with
openoffice and samba, and openoffice doesnt ask for a username/password,
it only happens in Hardy

What's going on where ???

[Bug 94326] Re: OpenOffice does not accept password when opening files remotely over ssh

2008-01-28 Thread Neil Smith
For a quick fix, in the the address bar of Nautilus put the user and
password.

ssh://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/folder

Here's an example:
ssh://neil:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/home/neil/Development/Web

Where the login is neil and neil's password into the server is pa55word.

Not ideal as it leaves them visible, but for a home user it may not
matter too much.

Cheers,

Neil.

popping up and we cant get any further than that.

Thanks

I can confirm this on Feisty Herd 5 with the latest updates (OOo 2.2

Every file I tried to open over SSH worked fine except for OpenOffice
documents. When I try to open up an OOo document the splash page comes
up with the password dialog and I get the same problems except the error
I get is: General internet error has occurred

If I went through the console and used SSH -y (X11 forwarding) I could
open OOo files with no problems.
