My fix no longer works on Jaunty, sadly. Even with my fix (above), the external mouse is frozen on resume. I can confirm this on 2.6.27 kernel. I have this problem on a desktop computer. On suspend+resume, my MIDI to USB adaptor is turned on but the computer won't interact with it. If I unplug and plug the adaptor back in, it works again. I think (IIRC) it's systematic, every suspend+resume leaves the device temporarily unusable. However my USB printer and DVD writer don't have this problem (I think -- they get far less use than the MIDI adaptor). The workaround of comment #10 fixes my MIDI adaptor -- no need to unplug and reconnect the device after resume. Upgraded to intrepid from hardy (with working suspend to ram) on Thinkpad R50e. On resume: all letters disappeared from the screen. Used workaround suggested above and it worked. The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. I face the same problem on an IBM T30 laptop. Boot up - USB works (ie. mouse) - close lid - suspend - open lid - mouse doesn't work (optical mouse - led not glowing). Removed ehci_hcd from the MODULES variable in /etc/default/acpi-support. I had put that there when having problems with USB after suspend in previous Ubuntu releases. Inital testing suggests that it seems to have resolved the issue.
