[Bug 970128] Re: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks
Neil Wilson, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970128 Title: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/970128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 970128] Re: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks
Neil Wilson, thank you for testing the mainline kernel. Could you please answer the following questions: + Does your computer have this problem connecting to other/any WiFi devices or just the Apple Airport? + Regarding your Bug Description: Wireless kill switch is erratic and often disables the wireless completely. Are you referring to a wireless hard switch on the computer that if you toggle is buggy and often disables the wireless? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970128 Title: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/970128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 970128] Re: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks
I've had constant problems with this wireless adapter on several APs. With the Apple Airport it is intermittent whether it picks it up on the scan and it never authenticates. With other APs (the previous netgear I had) there was intermittent disconnects for no good reason, and it never worked with Oneiric's kernel. Are you referring to a wireless hard switch on the computer that if you toggle is buggy and often disables the wireless? Yep. The wireless on/off button on the keyboard. Switch it off and back on and you rarely see any APs on the scan - almost like the driver has given up the ghost. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970128 Title: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/970128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 970128] Re: ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9280 Rev:2 fails to scan networks
Neil Wilson, ok. As this is two different issues, this bug will only focus on the first one regarding: I've had constant problems with this wireless adapter on several APs. With the Apple Airport it is intermittent whether it picks it up on the scan and it never authenticates. With other APs (the previous netgear I had) there was intermittent disconnects for no good reason, and it never worked with Oneiric's kernel. Regarding the hard switch causing wireless to be disabled, your welcome to file a new bug via the Terminal and subscribe me to it: ubuntu-bug linux As well, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/docs/lkml/reporting-bugs.html . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance. ** Description changed: - 9280 is failing to scan and connect to Apple Airport network - - Wireless kill switch is erratic and often disables the wireless - completely. + I've had constant problems with this 9280 wireless adapter failing to + scan and connect several APs (ex.
