Is this still an issue on trusty? I tried to reproduce in a VM but the gnome fallback session seems pretty broken atm. Give it a couple of minutes and it finishes loading. and the 3D didn't come up right at all (ie, the unity launcher showed up on the left even though I had top and bottom panels). That's bug 1232299. The workaround is to log into unity first, let Compiz process its upgrade scripts, and then log into Flashback afterwards. Ok, thanks. Once upstream has approved this I think it would be fine to get into the archive. I'll note that the patch attached to this bug is different than the one in the upstream merge request. Since trusty will get that bug fix once it is merged, I am ging to unsubscribe ubuntu- sponsors for now, as there is nothing to sponsor.
