Yeah, probably safe to close. As janc correctly states, Celtx turned into a SaaS a couple of years ago, and the previous open source app is no longer developed. It was also based on XUL which is also no longer a thing. ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: Bernhard Reiter (ockham-razor) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99965 Title: [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/feisty-backports/+bug/99965/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99965] Re: [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite
I've just packaged version 2.9.1 for natty and uploaded it to my PPA, https://launchpad.net/~ockham-razor/+archive/ppa/ Please test! You might notice that it's not based on the previous effort found in this bug report; I wanted to use current packaging techniques like debhelper 7 and source format 3.0 (quilt). In the end, I'd like to submit this package to Ubuntu (and Debian), but there's obviously still some work ahead, like: * Possibly put the stuff that goes to /usr/share into a celtx-data package * Figure out all copyrights/licenses * Add localization packages For debian: * Check if it's DFSG compliant and/or has to be rebranded * Unbundle xulrunner Any help and/or comments welcome! ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: Andrew Hunter (rexbron) => Bernhard Reiter (ockham-razor) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99965 Title: [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/feisty-backports/+bug/99965/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99965] Re: [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite
Here's my first attempt at making a package from source. The newest version of the source available is 2.0.1. I've put in request that the source for 2.0.2 be released (they're more than a month late posting it). This is a BINARY package compiled for amd64. I'll have a i386 version when I finish figuring out how to build debian source packages. Right now, the dependencies are the same as Firefox, even though only libc6 is specified as a dependency. A SOURCE PACKAGE WILL COME WHEN I GET IT BUILT. [Bug 99965] Re: [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite
Thanks for trying out, Thom. Now that I know that the little build system I set up works (I couldn't get dh_make to work acceptably with their package), I can proceed trying to build the source package I planned on building. Chris, thanks for a reminder of the policy. I am aware of the need for a source package, but wanted to make /a/ package first before putzing with celtx's source. I know much more now about compilation and packaging than I did the last time I tried to compile celtx, so hopefully it will go much more smoothly. -- [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99965 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've completed an initial attempt at the package. Please note that this version of the package was NOT compiled on Ubuntu! It's the stock English package from Celtx's web site with sufficient structure and files to make a Debian package. I may try to recompile it myself at a later date, but there are no guarantees that I'll get around to doing it before the package freeze-- August is booked solid for me. I'm not sure what all is needed. Indeed. I noted that here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/99965/comments/3. I had word from another maker of a library system, and they advised not to separate xulrunner from their package. I think that if a programmer specs their program "with" (not "for") and included program, then unless you know more than the programmer on the issue, then it would probably be wise to stick with what is known to work well. It's based on the mozilla codebase, and I believe is mostly written in javascript. It's license is an MPL Derivative. There is already a debian rfp: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=409048 http://www.celtx.com/ Earlier sources can be found on mozdev, but since it's mostly javascript, the source and the binary should be the same. + + Description added from #249715 + + Description: + Celtx is the world's first all-in-one media pre-production software. It has everything you need to take your story from concept to production. Celtx replaces 'paper, pen & binder' pre-production with a digital approach that's more complete, simpler to work with, and easier to share. + + Multi-Media Friendly + Celtx helps you pre-produce all types of media - film, video, documentary, theater, machinima, comics, advertising, gaming, music video, radio, podcasts, videocasts, and however else you choose to tell your story. + + All-In-One + Unlike scriptwriting software, you can use Celtx for the entire pre-production process - write scripts, storyboard scenes and sequences, develop characters, breakdown & tag elements, schedule production, and prepare detailed and informative production reports for cast and crew. + + Fully Integrated + Celtx is designed to help your entire production team work together on a single, easy to share project file - eliminating the confusion of multiple project files, and the need for 'paper and binder'. + + World Community of Media Creators + More than 250,000 media creators in 160 countries create with Celtx in over 20 different languages. Celtx is used by independent filmmakers and studio professionals, and by students in over 1,400 universities and film schools - many that have adopted Celtx for teaching and class work submission. + + Non-Linear Project Development + Unlike scriptwriting software, Celtx puts a choice of fully integrated development tools right at your fingertips, giving you total flexibility to determine how your story takes shape. + + License: + Celtx is distributed under an open source license, so you can download it, use it, and distribute it for free. + Celtx uses the CePL, which is a derivative of Netscape's Mozilla Public License (MPL). + To find out more about open source licenses, please see www.opensource.org. -- [needs-packaging] celtx - all-in-one video and media pre-production suite https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99965 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99965] Re: [needs-packaging] celtx
I'll take a stab at it if someone with stronger licensing-fu can determine by the CePL if such a package is legal. http://www.celtx.com/CePL/ I've not make a package before, but I've been wanting to take a stab at it--might as well do it with a decent project. -- [needs-packaging] celtx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99965 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
