Just ignore the error-message, the installation is still o.k. The only error is the error-message. -- Thank you for your suggested lines. Terminal didn't make sense of all put in together or the first line by itself. It did nothing with the 2nd. The next two brought some upgrades and this message twice: Errors were encountered while processing: ttf-mscorefonts-installer msttcorefonts E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) The error is to do with dependencies clashing. I unistalled and reinstalled in synaptic as per your kind suggestion. I got this message, which I get each time I do upgrades: E: ttf-mscorefonts-installer: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 E: msttcorefonts: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured I assume future upgrades or next distribution will sort it out as I have no idea how to fix it.
