That assumes you can determine which one you want from all of the thumbnails. Please actually try the use-case I described in my previous comment. Open 25 gvim windows, all on different files and then try to pick a specific one from the "spread". Thumbnails only works when you have a couple of large windows in which you can make out the contents of the thumbnail. If I have 25 gvim windows open but all minimized, I have to unminimize all 25 of them and then cycle through all 25 of them to find the one I am actually interested in?
