[Bug 308410] Re: Latest Xorg removes nvidia driver ... conflicting xserver-xorg-video-4
I think this is the bug I have. I ran the most recent updates for Intrepid and it disabled something with xconfig. This is also causing me to be forced into low-graphics mode on restart. When trying to run NVIDIA Xserver settings I get the following error: You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server. I have tried reinstalling everything and the forums do not have a solid solution yet either. -- Latest Xorg removes nvidia driver ... conflicting xserver-xorg-video-4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308410 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 272825] Re: writer crashes after loading certain files
Chris, I am sorry that I did not reply sooner. I just noticed your email today. I am running OpenOffice 1.2.4.1-1Ubuntu2.1 Thu Nov 20 09:02:58 UTC 2008 It crashed when I loaded the attached file today. When restarted it crashed on trying to recover the same file. I think it has something to do with the links. When I save a file like this as a doc file I have the same problem both in OO and Word. OO has no easy way that I know of to disable all links and fields in a document at once, but it can be done in Word with ^Shift F9. Once this is done to a document the crashing does not occur. The problem may be some type of copy protection. All of the documents were copied and pasted from the web. All are court cases from WestLaw. All are contain many links. [Bug 308302] Re: Please merge eclipse 3.2.2-6.1 (universe) from Debian unstable
eclipse 3.2.2-6.1 FTBFS due to compiler options in source- tree/baseLocation/plugins/icu4j-build-temp/build.xml for eclipseCore and eclipseWrapper. The problem arises due to three compiler options: compiler=javac1.3 source=1.3 target=1.1 Package build-depends on default-jdk-builddep which for jaunty is openjdk-6-jdk. It is well documented that for jdk 1.5+ if target=1.1 is specified then source=1.3 must also be specified. According to the ant manual when the specified compiler is 1.3 or less the source option is ignored. http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/javac.html#compilervalues This produces a situation where the target is specified, source is ignored and so we compilation explodes with error [javac] javac: target release 1.1 conflicts with default source release 1.5 Since javac1.3 is an alias for modern the FTBFS can be fixed by changing compiler=javac1.3 to compiler=modern. However this is where I run into a problem I don't know how to solve. The source-tree directory is not produced until debian/rules uncompress is issued. After this source-tree/baseLocation/plugins/icu4j-build-temp/build.xml is compiled, and moved before any patches are applied so I can't use the patch system and I can just modify the src. There seem to be three options: 1) Untar, modify source for icu4j and retar 2) Make a small patch and apply it after untaring but before compiling icu4j-temp 3) Your better suggestion? ** Attachment added: eclipse-3.2.2-6.1-FTBFS.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20583636/eclipse-3.2.2-6.1-FTBFS.log -- Please merge eclipse 3.2.2-6.1 (universe) from Debian unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 309836] [NEW] Forced to use acpi=off with 64 bits OS, not with 32bits
Public bug reported: Hi everyone, I'm experiencing difficulties with my laptop, a Samsung R710. I'm currently using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, the amd64 OS. As far as I've tested, I've had the same problem using the 64 bits versions of Fedora, and an other linux OS I've forgotten. Let's describe it : I've had no trouble using the 32 bit versions of Ubuntu. As my computer was able to use a 64 bits OS (and as it has 4 GB of RAM), I decided to switch to this version. But my laptop crashes a few seconds after booting the kernel. If I erase quiet splash from my boot entry, I don't even have the time to read the messages my screen displays before my computer suddenly reboots. Using the rescue page from doc.ubuntu-fr.org, I found that using acpi=off was the only solution to this crash. But the real pity with it is the management of energy. My laptop restarts as soon as i unplug the AC/DC power adaptater. So, I'd like to ask you. Will I always have to use this option to use linux 64 ? It appears to be very strange, because everything was allright with the 32 bits versions ! Thanks ! P.S.
