[Bug 498443] [NEW] kernel panic with high network traffic
Public bug reported: My media server locks and needs to be hard reset after high network traffic, this is usually triggered by rtorrent or another machine connected by sshfs. This was previously occuring on 9.04 with a wired connection so I had downgraded to 8.10 and everything was fine. I recently upgraded to 9.10 with a wireless connection (broadcom) hoping this issue had gone away, but it is still occuring. I switched to a terminal and ran rtorrent and was able to get a picture of the kernel message, it is attached (sorry for the blurriness but it should still be readable). While it could be suggested that careful editing the appropriate line /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.devicekit.disks.policy could achieve the same result in karmic, the lucid 'fix' seems better and cleaner . Not to mention that injudicious editing of the files in actions can lead to unintended results and shouldn't be encouraged The patch for lucid ( creation of a file in /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d 0) seems to also work in karmic, have done so here with the intended correct result and with no apparent ill effects ( though could stand to be corrected by those who know better if need be. -- Do not require a password every time to mount internal disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 467976] Re: Ubuntone fails to resume update after temporary disruption of internet connection (ADSL)
Hi, Thanks for your reply. I just tested by pulling out the telephone jack while Ubuntuone was updating a file, but it resumed automatically after I reconnected the line. Not sure if there has been an update somewhere that cured the problem, or whether the problem initially was related to that a lot of files had to be updated, or to my unfamiliarity with Ubuntuone (have had no such problems with Dropbox though). I then had to manually set Ubuntuone to connect after a disruption in the connection. Ubuntuone still doesn't automatically start with a connection on startup (Ubuntuone is loaded on startup and connect on start is set to automatically) even when there is a connection. I then just manually set Ubuntuone to connect and after that it seems to be OK. Cheers, Ernst On Tue, 15 Dec 2009 16:46:27 +0100, John O'Brien wrote: > Thank you for using Ubuntu One. OK, what I wrote above is partly false. I had forgot that under Jaunty, to make sensors work I had run https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HPdv5z#CPU%20Temperature . However: - the linked procedure stopped fixing the issue in Karmic (sensor don't work, and if I get a dump of the DSDT table and decompile it I see it's still the original - maybe something changed in update-initramfs) - I'm quite certain that at least in Intrepid, the sensors did work (out of the box). I found a solution to this problem. Before, I needed to boot with options noapic nolapic which caused the machine to bring up one core only. Replacing the boot options as follows noapic nolapic --> pci=assign-busses apicmaintimer idle=poll reboot=cold, hard fixed the problem on my machine. [Bug 445829] Re: Text on "Games" menu is outside of window
There is definitely some sort of rendering bug in the netbook launcher. After installing, the games menu was fine, but somewhere along the line -- probably after installing a batch of games -- it became corrupted. The problem manifests itself such: The first page or so renders properly, but eventually a large vertical blank space separates the rows and seems to push many of the bottom icons off the page. The last icons before the void render properly, but if one is selected, the "selected highlight" extends all the way down through the empty space. The icons clip at the edge of the launcher window, but many items are past the end of the list and inaccessible. Screenshots are attached to demonstrate the rendering errors. ** Attachment added: "shows the top of the rendering error" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36966743/snapshot1.png -- Text on "Games" menu is outside of window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 497149] Re: Packages using DKMS should make use of /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst
Can you please add some information how that above mentioned problems will be handled? I see them as an important blocker for that bug and will fix it after above mentioned problems are solved. I see the idea behind it as an important benefit, but don't think that the template mentioned in the bug report is the way to go (also with some changes I saw Tuesday in the git repository). It is ok for me to call `dpkg --print-architecture` and send that information to the dkms- postinst script, but I don't feel comfortable by adding that architecture mapping code . [Bug 482255] Re: tuxonice userui is not working
Now I have figured out how to apply the debdiff and here is my report: In my karmic installation of pm-utils there is no 98-smart-kernel-video file in /etc/pm/sleep.d. There are only two files: 10_grub-common and 10_unattended-upgrades-hibernate and a symlink named action_wpa. I have downloaded pm-utils-1.2.5.zip from the pm-utils git repository and copied all the files from the archives pm/sleep.d directory in my /etc/pm/sleep.d directory and applied your patch for 98-smart-kernel- video. After that I have applied the debdiff and I have made new tuxonice- userui package and installed it. Now tuxonice-useui is showing but sometimes it is almost completely faded out so that I can't see almost anything, only if I bring my LCD screen in the distance of about 2 cm to my eyes I can see that status is reported. Yes I can confirm that bug is fully resolved (ATI X700) with radeon.modeset=1 kernel parameter. Windows overlap normal with Compiz on and off. Gogle earth has NO artefacts and flickering (with Compiz on!) Performance of glxgears is slightly decreased (1800 fps against 2400 fps). -- (Needs radeon-rewrite) 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Else 90solaris needs some other changes for the newer Solaris builds. -- os-prober doesn't detect Solaris/OpenSolaris, especially on ZFS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482102 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
