[Bug 383404] Re: networkmanager passive notification wording needs to be changed

2010-01-16 Thread Manish Sinha
I can't understand why such a simple papercut can't be solved and is
being pending since long time.

Secondly, the affected package is "Network Manager Applet" and not just
"Network Manager".
Fixing this bug is so simple. Just open src/applet-device-wifi.c and edit the
line number 1003

To make this work easy, I am even attaching a patch.

[Bug 508484] [NEW] kflickr strips exif tags on upload

2010-01-16 Thread Sandip Bhattacharya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kflickr

I had 200+ photos which for some unknown reason, I decided to upload
using kflickr ( even though I am severely affected by another bug which
prevent kflickr from showing image thumbnails).

After all the photos, I discovered that all the uploaded photos had
their exif tags removed.

To verify, I took a photo with exif tags (confirmed using the 'exif'
tool). Uploaded it using the web uploader of flickr. And then uploaded
the same with kflickr. The photo uploaded by kflickr didn't have exif
tags displayed in the photo page.

P.S. Yes, I have exif display enabled in my flickr account.

after resuming the connection doesn't work.

I click the COnnect button and nothing happens, I cant see orange
traffic in my System MOnitor applet (upload traffic). I have to kill
Ubuntuone-syncdaemon and click the Connect button for it to start.

[Bug 487947] Re: fingerprint reader/webcam found message post install

2010-01-16 Thread tgpraveen
i disagree. though i am not a coder i think that this is a small bug
which can be easily fixed by sending out a notification when the new
hardware is detected for first time.

and it is a usability issue as many people dont know that their
fingerprint reader/ webcam is detected and working in linux. the
notification might also tell user how to set it up/ or start using it.

it will definetely improve the overall expeerience.

and many people to switch to linux from windows miss this feature.

[Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2010-01-16 Thread Michael Fox
When I deleted ucvideo from the blacklist, it didn't make the camera
work. Not only that, but I lost my usb ports again. Putting it back in
the blacklist fixed my usb ports. So I guess they haven't completely
fixed the videocamera problem yet. Still, I'm ahead of where I was
because the brightness problem is fixed. I can live without the
videocam in UNR 9.10; it still works in UNR 9.04, which I also have
installed.

[Bug 502665] Re: cryptsetup: "c_swap_unformatted" still exists after system boot

2010-01-16 Thread Stefan Fleiter
I have this problem here with Lucid as of today, too.

# ls /dev/mapper/
control home home_unformatted root var var_unformatted

According to the cryptsetup bugreport this could be caused by
udev or DeviceKit-disks.

At the moment I assume that this causes mountall not to mount my
home and var partition which means I have to manually support
every single boot process.

[Bug 508124] Re: Weather applet - doesn't work w ith Holešov

2010-01-16 Thread zub
The entry for Holešov in libgweather sources (data/Locations.xml.in) is:

<_name>Holešov
49.33 17.58

  Holešov
  LKHO
  49.316667 17.57

The source of the data seems to be METAR
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/METAR). A lookup on "LKHO"
(http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl?=LKHO) yields:

The most recent METAR observation from LKHO in our system was generated at the
source at:
2009/07/01 08:00 UTC

The observation is:
LKHO 010800Z VRB03KT CAVOK 23/17 Q1019

So this proves (not surprisingly) the data source to be the problem. The
only solution would probably be to change to a different data source/add
more data sources as per http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/17670/

[Bug 471303] Re: K3b multisession fails

2010-01-16 Thread Schily
You are not using cdrecord but wodim. You thus cannot expect that
writing to DVDs works at all.

wodim is a fork made from a more than 4 year old cdrecord version
by adding plenty of bugs and by replacing the mature DVD support
from the original cdrecord by something half baken. Note that if you
have wodim instead of cdrecord you most likely also have a buggy
variant from mkisofs called "genisoimage" that creates defective
filesystems.

I recommend ti install revent original software, it has no known
bugs

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

http://cdrecord.berlios.de/

Just a note with DVD+RW, there is no way to create conforming
multi border sessions, it is currently not clear whether there is
a similar problem with DVD+R (cdrecord does thus not support
multi border for DVD+R). Please use DVD-R or DVD-RW for
multi morder experiments.

2010-01-16 Thread Nils Ole Tippenhauer
I seem to have the same problem in 9.10, using cups 1.4.1. Printing
certain PDF files will cause pdftopdf to grab all the memory it can get.
My current workaround is to print to a .ps-file and then print this ps
file. Should I open a new bug or reuse this one?

[Bug 508494] [NEW] An attachment icon is not always shown in the evolution message list for messages with attachments

2010-01-16 Thread Harm van Bakel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Emails with an attachment are not always marked as such by the paperclip
icon in the evolution message list. The icons show for some users
emails, but not others, which leads me to suspect that it is linked to
the email client used to send the emails. The bug concerns emails in
local folders (pop account, haven't checked imap).

[Bug 483277] Re: Ubuntustudio 9.10 fails to install on Intel RAID

2010-01-16 Thread Noel J. Bergman
I get the same error WITHOUT Intel RAID. Ubuntu Studio Karmic 9.10
simply fails to install GRUB (at least GRUB 1), even if you follow the
alleged workaround for a related problem documented here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8264172&postcount=12.

The fact that Ubuntu Studio won't install, and the developers admit the
issue, seems to me to be what we'd call a STOP SHIP issue, and require
the ISO images to be re-rolled with corrected code.

[Bug 490201] Re: [lucid] Nautilus asks password when accessing workgroup

2010-01-16 Thread Nicholas Roberts
Major issue for me as I cannot open shares on my other Ubuntu machines
to transfer large files... guess this has stumped everyone?

How do you stop Nautilus asking for a password or is there some 'magic'
default for this non-existent password?

Many thanks
Nick

I apoligize, as I thought I had reported the fix to the problem.  I

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 508502] [NEW] Bamboo Tablet and Microsoft Mouse don't start right away after boot in Karmic

2010-01-16 Thread ZacharyS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wacom-tools

A few days ago, after installing some system updates, my Wacom Bamboo
Fun tablet and my Microsoft mouse stopped working when I rebooted the
computer. The mouse starts up a few seconds after the computer finishes
booting, but the tablet doesn't start up for a few minutes. I found out
when I unplug, and replug the USB for the Microsoft mouse, both the
mouse and the tablet start instantly. I checked around here, and found
similar problems from other people, but they have all since been solved
in 2009. This problem started a few days ago with the system update.

My system info
System Release: Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic)

[Bug 486837] Re: Freezes with nvidia-glx-185 or -190 after upgrade from jaunty to karmic

2010-01-16 Thread Mossroy
Today, I tried to watch the same youtube video in a virtualized
environment.

I made this test with Virtualbox 3.1.2 (non-OSE version), on two different
virtual machines :
- one under Ubuntu 10.04 alpha 2, on which I only installed the proprietary
flash plugin (version 10.0.42.34). I did not install the guest additions on
this one
- one under Ubuntu 9.10 (with all updates installed), on which I also installed
the same proprietary flash plugin (same version). I also installed the guest
additions on this machine, and activated the 3D opengl acceleration of
virtualbox

I did not experience any freeze : not in a virtual machine, and not in
my physical computer

It seems to confirm that the problem only occurs when using both the
nvidia proprietary drivers and the adobe flash proprietary plugin

[Bug 481536] Re: k3b fails to burn larger dvd images (about 4gb) when using wodim

Note that if
you use wodim instead of cdrecord you most likely also have a
buggy variant from mkisofs called "genisoimage" that creates
defective filesystems and in addition does not support files
> 4 GB and UTF-8 coded character sets.

I recommend to install revent original software, it has no known
bugs

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

http://cdrecord.berlios.de/

In your specific case, you also first need to call "cdrecord blank=all"
as the disk was written in a mode that is not compatible with SAO
recording.
