[Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
Bearing in mind that it's early days for Unity, it's as well to remember that new builds are tested in the wild on us. Only then can they be 'completed'. Gnome 3, maybe, should be the main development with Unity being a spin off build for those who have the kit. For me at least I just want an OS that I can work on. I don't want to be worried that every time I shut down that I may not be able to boot up again nor have to spend hours with workarounds and fixes. It might even help if there was an updating list of working cards to refer to. So if the worst happens (nothing) it would be possible to go get another card. There is a tension between forging ahead technically (probably touch screen) and being sensitive to users with old kit. So far as I can see tested cards (which you probably have seen) from another posting ATI cards: Radeon 7500, Radeon 9250, Radeon 9500, Radeon 9600, Radeon X300, Radeon X1600, Radeon HD 2600. NVIDIA cards: TNT/Vanta, GeForce 2MX, GeForce 3, GeForce 4MX, GeForce FX 5200, GeForce FX 5500, GeForce 6200, GeForce 6800, GeForce 7600, GeForce 8600, GeForce 8800. Intel cards: 865 ('Extreme Graphics'), 915 ('GMA 900'), 945 ('GMA 950'), 965 ('GMA X3100'). Others: SiS 661, SiS 760, S3 UniChrome, Matrox G400, S3 ProSavage. Hi, boinc always crashes when it starts; I can provide my /var/lib/boinc- client dir if this is needed to reproduce. I've installed boinc-dbg now and ran boinc in gdb. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. They worked fine, but I decided to try the nvidia-current (which I had used before with the previous install) and used Jockey to switch. This made Jockey install a new xorg.conf without the EnableBrightnessControl option. [Bug 782637] [NEW] Desktop is not locking automaticaly when there is seahorse prompt for wifi password
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver I'm using Unity interface with new Ubuntu 11.04 (64 bit version). I've set up automatic login without password prompt and after boot I'm prompted for password to unlock seahorse (in order to login to my wifi network). I can leave computer for any time and screen is not getting blocked by gnome-screensaver. But when I fill the password and unlock seahorse, screen gets instantly blocked by screensaver. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use autologin (however this issue may be present also without autologin - I havent' checked it) and different password for seahorse than for user login to system. 2. Boot computer with wifi turned on 3. After booting there should be prompt for password from seahorse 4. Wait 5. Re: [Bug 647404] Re: Udev worker error during boot worker [XX] did not accept message -1 (Connection refused), kill it
A few weeks before the release of 11.04, there was evidently an update which caused at least part of the problem to cease. I still saw the 10.04 background on the login screen (which switched immediately to the 10.10 background once I had logged in), but the udev message no longer appeared. I won't go into my reasons for doing this but, rather than try a network upgrade on this particular computer (Asus Eee PC 1000/Linux, formerly with Asus' proprietary distro but replaced with Ubuntu last year), I decided to 'wipe' (with DBAN) and completely reinstall Ubuntu (with 11.04). I have very few programs on this computer; my wife and I use it when traveling to get e-mail, listen to internet radio stations, and so forth. It has two hard drives, both SSDs - 8 GB (primary) and 32 GB (secondary). (Why Asus made it this way I cannot understand; until you really get to understand how to coordinate the two drives, it can be a real pain.) The 'wiping' process took a couple of hours; reinstallation of Ubuntu took only a half-hour and the configuration to our tastes took another hour. Now everything works perfectly. I recommend that anyone who is annoyed by this udev message (or who is having some other problems) consider wiping and reinstalling. It has certainly worked for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647404 Title: Udev worker error during boot worker [XX] did not accept message -1 (Connection refused), kill it -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 578506] Re: [Kernel] ACPI: EC: input buffer is not empty, aborting transaction
@Pedro Carrasco : perhaps your directory structure is not exactly what the patch expects. You might use the alternate patch syntax: patch /pathto/originalfile /pathto/patchfile In my case i didn't apply the omnibook patch, because I have another laptop model : samsung r719 NB : Amazingly, when I boot in a (non patched) natty live cd the laptop works fine, and it also works in windows. But when I install natty the problem reappears *on the second boot* So I used the ec.c patch from comment 66 in https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14733 (the recommended one for 2.6.38) Unfortunately it didn't really work! Sure, I don't get flooded with the EC input buffer message any more and at last I can boot, but many other things are broke: - unexpected remounts - xorg problems - keyboard malfunction - all similar issues to those that had been described for maverick in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/610055 I'm wondering if these are separate problems that just suddenly appear because the system actually boots, or if they are connected to the original thing. I suspect the latter because i get similar behaviour with noacpi option at boot and non patched kernel. Btw, I tried the patch successively on both the generic-pae and generic config, it's the same problem in both. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578506 Title: [Kernel] ACPI: EC: input buffer is not empty, aborting transaction -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
