[Bug 785474] Re: system test program references Open Office in Ubuntu 11.04
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have been unable to reproduce this bug. What I tried is: 1- Launch the System Testing application 2- On the Test Selection screen, I press Deselect all and then select User Applications 3- When the tests start, I press Next to skip tests that aren't related to *Office. 4- When I hit a test that says Now we will attempt to open... and refers to a file type that can be handled by *Office (for instance, an .odt file) I press Test Upon doing this, my Natty system correctly launches LibreOffice and displays the requested document. In any case this doesn't look like a problem with System Testing, as all it does is launch the user's preferred application by invoking xdg-open /usr/share/checkbox/data/documents/OpenOffice_Text_Test.odt So what I'd like to ask you is to run the command I posted above, from a terminal window (press ctrl-alt-t to open a terminal window), and let us know what happens. Ideally it should open the document with LibreOffice. You can also check which application your system uses to open odt files with this command: xdg-mime query default application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text on Natty this should output libreoffice-writer.desktop If it outputs something different, please also let me know. Thanks! ** Changed in: checkbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/785474 Title: system test program references Open Office in Ubuntu 11.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 785833] [NEW] ubuntuone-syncdaemon crashes system, disables nautilus and makes banshee not see external music players
Public bug reported: When ubuntuone-syncdaemon is installed and active (autostart on boot, syncs files) it has the following results for my system: - The syncdaemon process uses 100% of CPU all the time, causing my laptop to overheat after a while and thus crashes the system. It also renders the system hardly usable since the CPU is used by the syncdaemon and does not have enough resources for the apps I need (like unity...) - Nautilus can not be started. Sometimes it does start after (literally) hours but it's frozen and all I can do is force quit it. Starting Nautilus from command line does not work either - Banshee can not see external (USB) drives with music on them like my android phone. When completely uninstalling ubuntu one (there seems to be no way to stop the syncdaemon), the system works perfect again. Is there any alternative to uninstall ubuntuone? I would love to use it, but not at the cost of rendering my system unsuable. These problems only started to occur after the upgrade to 11.04, and on previous versions ubuntu one worked flawlessly. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/785833 Title: ubuntuone-syncdaemon crashes system, disables nautilus and makes banshee not see external music players -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 189329] Re: Undesirable focus while closing or minimizing
The bug really does exist, at least in 10.04. The screencast shows what is happening. The animation for focus in the compiz animation plugin is set to Dodge to make the behavior more apparent. When the rear window is closed using its close button, the front window Dodges and the back window gets focus before closing. ** Attachment added: Bad focus behavior https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/189329/+attachment/2136516/+files/screencast1.ogv -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189329 Title: Undesirable focus while closing or minimizing -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 189329] Re: Undesirable focus while closing or minimizing
By contrast, this second screencast shows how it really should behave. This is the good behavior which you get when you close the rear window using the contextual menu in the task bar. The rear window is not give focus. Instead it quietly disappears, using the correct close animation, while remaining behind the front window. ** Attachment added: Good focus behavior https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/189329/+attachment/2136517/+files/foo2.ogv ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189329 Title: Undesirable focus while closing or minimizing -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 762308] Re: kdeinit4 crashed with SIGSEGV in exit()
I have a similar problem - does kdeinit4 take 100% CPU after it crashes? It does on my machine, and disables custom shortcuts as well. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. [Bug 785668] Re: bonding inside a bridge does not update ARP correctly when bridged net accessed from within a VM
Actually, I may be wrong about this being a kernel issue. Are you always able to ping the remote host from the kvm host, even when you can't do so from the VM? In addition to kvmhost's /etc/modprove.d/bonding.conf, can you also please provide the configuration info for the KVM vm? (If a libvirt host, then the network-related (or just all) xml info, or else the 'ps -ef | grep kvm' output). Also the network configuration insid the KVM VM. In particular, if the KVM VM has a bridge, that one would need to have stp turned on, but I doubt you have that. ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/785668 Title: bonding inside a bridge does not update ARP correctly when bridged net accessed from within a VM -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 768506] Re: CIFS VFS Server is slowing down shutdown
Ernst is correct; after further testing this turns out *not* to be a wireless network issue for me. I am developing a background process that mounts/unmounts shares as defined by users in a configuration file in their home directory. My script interferes with umountcifs when user logout occurs on shutdown or restart. If I have umountcifs installed and I kill my script before shutting down the shutdown occurs normally. When I tested with hardwire I either did not have my script running or it was one of those lucky shots where the two second time delay in my infinite loop occurred at just the right moment to allow umountcifs to do its work. Now I just have to fix my code. My apologies for the red herring. [Bug 306497] Re: gwibber uses a lot of memory
I've never noticed high memory use with Gwibber. My problem has been with the high CPU usage. I have a dual core Atom N270 processor, and Gwibber has one of the cores running constantly high ranging between 94% and 107% (I didn't even know the graph could go over 100%). And this is when the program is technically closed. I can't watch videos any more because of the high CPU usage, and Thunderbird freezes periodically, making reading mail a pain. In the end, I had to completely eliminate Gwibber just to get some decent functionality back. I'm using Seesmic Desktop (an Adobe AIR program) to check my feeds now, but I like the convenience of Gwibber being connected into Ubuntu. I hope they can get this sorted out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306497 Title: gwibber uses a lot of memory -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 780932] Re: libreoffice printing ignores paper feeder setting
** Description changed: Binary package hint: libreoffice - When trying to print an A3 opendocument text file, I need the printer to - switch to another paper feeder. Though setting the paper format to - letter or anything supported by the default paper feeder or changing - page orientation works fine, switching the paper feeder gets partly - ignored, that is when I close and reopen the printer settings dialog it - just disappeared and the printer uses the other paper feed but only - prints A4 on A3. + My printer has different paper feeders and the appropiate one needs to be selected for printing certain paper types. + Though, after selecting any non-default paper feeder, when reopening the printer properties dialog (using file = print = settings ; ok ; settings), the paper feeder setting is gone. Nevertheless, when not reopening the settings dialog, the + last paper feeder setting is used for printing. The main issue arises, when during this print (which uses the correct paper feeder), the wrong paper format is selected which causes the print to be rendered invalid. + The invalid printing is rendered in the preview the same kind as it gets printed, so I guess the paper format cannot be applied + due to libreoffice believing in the wrong paper feeder setting. (There are PPD UIConstraints that exclude my paper format + and the default feeder to be combined.)
