[Bug 716311] Re: flash not installed

2011-06-09 Thread Elsevier
I have the same problem and it still exists.

It can be solved by purging the flashplugin-* directories and
reinstalling flash by either using the additional packages available
dialogue when opening reqonk, or using apt-get.

Running updated Kubuntu 11.04_64 KDE 4.6.3.

Would be nice to get this problem solved. Makes updating your system
using KPackageKit for newbies VERY annoying.

Regards

[Bug 777493] Re: nvidia drivers activated but not in use on natty 11.04

2011-06-09 Thread Linuxexperte
hi together,

I would be pleased, if this bug could be fixed soon, because I discover,
that my Notebook (modell is CR500-series from MSI) often gets hot and I
have to switch off for not risking my graphicscard. So this opensource-
driver is no solution for the future. Plese reput the package nvidia-
current-modaliases into the distro and upgrade it to the version of
nvidia-current. This püroprietory driver is better for our
graphiccards!!

And this package nvidia-current-modaliases is a direct dependency of
nvidia-current.

This is the only way, to get this nvidia-driver back to working. I hope,
that the developers look into this and understand this...Please
understand, that this is the only help for not get hundreds of
graphiccards melting because of overheating

Greetings
Linuxexperte

[Bug 794963] [NEW] madam allows growing an array beyond metadata size limitations

2011-06-09 Thread trader...@yahoo.co.uk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mdadm

It is possible to command mdadm to grow an array such that the array space on a
component partition exceeds the maximum size writeable in metadata 0.90 format,
which is just over 2TB (4 bytes representing sector size). When told to do
this, mdadm appears to do it without error and writes a bogus sector count into
the 4 byte container in the super-blocks. Now the system operates with the
over-enlarged array without apparent issue but only until the next reboot when
the system is told the array size based on the superblock value. User data
becomes inaccessible/LVMs don't mount with seemingly no way to recover the
inaccessible data.
Obviously, mdadm should refuse to grow the array size beyond the size
restriction of its own metadata.
Seen using mdadm - v2.6.7.1 - 15th October 2008 and Ubuntu server 10.04 64-bit

[Bug 781350] Re: Name: header is missing in several swatch files

2011-06-09 Thread Daniel Holbach
Alessio: how are things are going with the update? For now, I'll
unsubscribe sponsors from this bug as it seems to be established that
there's nothing to be uploaded to Ubuntu until it's not updated in
Debian.

[Bug 794970] [NEW] Unity task launcher on LHS not loading when I log in

2011-06-09 Thread Rory McCann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 today and I'm using the default unity. For
the first few times I logged in everything seemed normal. However after
1 or 2 logins later, the task launcher at the left hand side of the
screen (and the top bar with the log out / me menu) didn't load and were
missing. I was unable to launch any programmes at all. I had to use
SysReq to reboot the machine into classic mode.

Yes. And I've seen this issue at least in Maverick and I think I've seen
it in Lucid too. I don't have Lucid running anymore so I cannot test it.

[Bug 794980] [NEW] logical train gives misleading question

2011-06-09 Thread g.lambert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gbrainy

The question: How long does it take the second train to overtake the first
train?
This question infers the departure time of the second train, where the answer
would be 3 hours (the time the second train _takes_ to travel 180 distance
units). The answer given is 9 hours. This is the time that the first train
_takes_ to travel 180 distance units. The question should be: How long since
the first train departed will the second train overtake the first?
or How long before the first train is overtaken by the second?.

[Bug 794771] Re: metacity doesn't start, dies with metacity:ERROR:ui/ui.c:754:meta_ui_get_default_window_icon: assertion failed: (default_icon)

2011-06-09 Thread Michael Neuffer
I wonder if this might be related to bug 438274?

Especially to the comment which Ross Alexander wrote on 2010-12-20:
The reason for this is the gnome-settings-daemon is not working so GTK does
not pick up the correct icon theme so it defaults back to hicolor, which does
not have icons for window or gtk-missing-icon. These icons exist in the
gnome-icon-theme package and in GConf this is the default, and is also in
Clearlooks, which is the default for the overall theme.

I currently don't have my laptop available to verify, but I dimly
remember seeing some warning(s) or error(s) from the gnome-settings-
daemon that I didn't follow up on yet. I'll check that later tonight.

[Bug 794520] Re: File publish dialog should be Gtk+ MessageBox, not notification bubble

2011-06-09 Thread Natalia Bidart
Hello Dmitry!

First of all, thanks for helping making Ubuntu One better. When we
designed the notification feature, we decided we will not raise any
popup/dialog to the end user unless is strictly necessary (eg the sync
can not go on due to lack of space in the cloud). So, I'll close this
bug as Won't Fix. If you think I didn't understand your report
correctly, please let me know!

Thanks, Natalia.

[Bug 715257] Re: multi-notification plugin indicator support disabled and broken

2011-06-09 Thread Holger Berndt
It's not necessary anymore in this case, but for future reference: If
it's not a distribution-issue but an upstream change in the library that
causes these kinds of problems (as in this case with the .pc file
rename), it would be nice to notify upstream of the library user (i.e.
Claws Mail) instead of or in addition to fixing it in the distribution.
This affects every consumer, not just Ubuntu.

On a related note, it would be nice if libindicate would provide Release
Notes when doing backwards-incompatible changes. Not being a user of
indicators myself, all I can do now is either review all changes in the
0.5 branch to see if I can safely support the new version (that's not
gonna happen), or just support it and wait for bug reports in case it
turns out to be incompatible.

[Bug 336410] Re: The trash-cli package is outdated

2011-06-09 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I attached a bug watch to a bug in Debian requesting a newer version of
this package. However, since this package has someone Ubuntu-specific
changes it will need to be merged manually once it has been updated in
Debian.

[Bug 786507] Re: in natty, nautilus do not automatically refresh Desktop window

2011-06-09 Thread ThorX89
I think what you're describing is an extension of this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/776904
(that is if you also have problems with windows not being redrawn until they're
resized).
Disabling all mipmapping in ccsm should fix this.

I started the install, killed the download, rebooted the computer, ran

then properly installed the content.

[Bug 745585] Re: XKeysymDB missing in libx11-data

2011-06-09 Thread Timo Aaltonen
It was removed in upstream commit eb023c0f8919e:

Author: Daniel Stone daniel fooishbar.org
Date: Tue Jun 15 18:49:43 2010 +0100

Delete now-redundant XKeysymDB

Since XStringToKeysym now supports all the vendor keysyms, just delete
our XKeysymDB, which was incomplete at best, misleading at worst, and
always an annoyance.

Signed-off-by: Daniel Stone daniel fooishbar.org
Reviewed-by: Alan Coopersmith alan.coopersmith oracle.com

it would be trivial to add it back, but maybe there is another way to
fix the apps.

[Bug 794988] [NEW] Duplication due to generated motd.tail

2011-06-09 Thread Julian Tibble
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpam-modules

Although I deleted /etc/motd.tail, a recent upgrade using aptitude
recreated it (presumably some package's post-install script created it).
This is annoying because its contents is as follows:

$ cat /etc/motd.tail
Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS

Welcome to Ubuntu!
 * Documentation:  https://help.ubuntu.com/

This is a duplicate of information printed by the scripts in /etc
/update-motd.d/, so some info is printed twice when I log in:

Linux eventbookingonline 2.6.32.16-linode28 #1 SMP [...snip...]

Welcome to Ubuntu!

Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS

Welcome to Ubuntu!

Surely this is wrong: as I understand it, /etc/motd.tail is supposed to
be for static content added by the local system-administrator and should
not be touched by scripts.

[Bug 782764] Re: mouse pointer accuracy problem in unity

2011-06-09 Thread zygmurti
Same problem here. Noticed that the problem is somehow alleviated by
maximising the window. However switching between windows or resizing
them makes the problem come back. This is really driving me up the
wall. Hope this gets resolved soon.

[Bug 659738] Re: Duplicate welcome message in motd (caused by postinst script creating motd.tail file)

2011-06-09 Thread Michael Lueck
How's progress getting this fixed in stable distribution? I just had to
sudo rm /etc/motd.tail on Lucid servers again. So I guess doing so is
not a one time manual fix. :-(

[Bug 794992] [NEW] System Freeze and Resolution Problem when Opening Game in Full Screen (Natty)

2011-06-09 Thread Inoe
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, both Ubuntu (Unity) and Ubuntu Classic (GNOME)
session.
Linux Kernel: 2.6.38-8

Opening game in full screen sometimes makes the system freeze (in other words,
it is sometimes successfully opened and playable).
The music of the game still runs, but the screen hangs.
I am still able to exit the game through Esc key or other keyboard action
depending on the game, but after the game exits and the screen looks normal,
the system is still unusable. I can move the cursor, but clicking anything
doesn't have any effects.
It also happens when switching from windowed to full screen mode.
Another problem is that the full screen games open in an unmatched ratio to my
screen resolution (1280x800), leaving the black area on the left and right
sides.

Game tested:
- Frozen Bubble
- Powermanga
- Njam

Specs:
- Intel Celeron CPU 550 @ 2.00GHz
- 1GB of RAM
- Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller

Updated the graphic drivers from ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa and the kernel to
2.6.39 from ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa but it still happens.

I tested some older kernels from Lucid and Maverick repository:
2.6.32-20 (Lucid)
2.6.32-22 (Lucid)
2.6.35-25 (Lucid)
2.6.35-28 (Maverick)

2.6.32-20 and 2.6.32-22 works well as I experienced in Lucid, but it brings the
same problem that I experienced in Lucid: opening a full screen game while
playing music makes the music lags for a moment.
I don't face this music lag problem with Natty's kernel, but having the system
freezes for the game is of course a more serious problem.
