[Bug 927558] Re: jockey doesn't detect nvidia in lenovo t420

2012-02-06 Thread Andreas Hasenack
I believe this is the key:
2012-02-05 18:01:29,218 DEBUG: Disabling Nvidia driver on intel/hybrid system
2012-02-05 18:01:29,218 DEBUG: NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver not available

It thinks I'm using the hybrid optimus mode, but I'm not.

** Summary changed:

- jockey doesn't detect nvidia in lenovo t420
+ jockey doesn't detect discrete nvidia in lenovo t420 (NO OPTIMUS)

[Bug 926136] Re: CPU1 on Dell PowerEdge M610 and R715 is offline by default

2012-02-06 Thread Brendan Donegan
Another test run done today seems to indicate that the CPU is not
offline initially. Perhaps one of our tests is making it go offline
(this wouldn't be intentional and might still be a bug)?

[Bug 927552] [NEW] Analog headphones port output doesn't work

2012-02-06 Thread Avihay
Public bug reported:

On an MSI PR600 laptop:

My default output port is: Analog Speakers.
When I plug in my earphons, the output port autoswitches to Analog earphones,
where I can barely hear audio unless I turn up the volume to 11.

Setting the output port to Analog Speakers works, and output only to
the earphones, unplugging the earphones causes the audio to come out of
the speakers as expected.

As a workaround, I've commented out module-switch-on-port-available ,
and now the system works as expected.

I also have no option to use both outputs at the same time, which I can
find usefull on rare occations.

I belive the automated tool picked up any relevant info, but if some
info is missing I'll be glad to provide it.

[Bug 922037] Re: reduce brightness key freezes system

2012-02-06 Thread Andreas Hasenack
I updated the BIOS of this laptop from 1.33 to 1.37, no change.

I then installed precise alpha 2 and upgraded, also no change. Still
freezes.

Finally, I reinstalled precise alpha 2 but 32bits, not 64 as I had
before, and now it works. I can dimm the backlight without having the
laptop freeze.

So what will RAOF do, make different drivers for every single computer
on the planet? You waste your time with childish experiments. The only
fix for this is to scale or shrink the window when launcher appears. I
have to repeat this over and over again. This is the only reasonable fix
for now from this guy. - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-

[Bug 903558] Re: Unable to boot 12.04 without 'noapic' flag enabled in GRUB

2012-02-06 Thread Stephen Rees-Carter
I've started the 'git bisect' process, but I've found something
interesting. Using the git repository at
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-
stable.git;a=summary , the v3.2.1 tag is broken on my system while the
v3.2 tag works. So for some reason the v3.2.1-precise build is different
to the tag...?

Anyway, I'll follow the bisect process and report back when I have a
commit to point a finger at.

[Bug 927569] [NEW] hard disk crushed during format

2012-02-06 Thread George Kov
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I had some problems trying formating my hard disk with windows 7 and I
have decided to install the last edition of ubuntu to avoid the annoying

[Bug 921798] Re: KDE 4.8: make libkactivities-bin@4.8 conflict with kde-runtime@4.7

2012-02-06 Thread Peter Birch
I am also having this problem.

I have Ubuntu Oneiric, I had kubuntu-desktop 4.7 installed, then did the
following

* sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
* sudo apt-get update
* sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

After download, it started to install, but got the same error as above.
I'm now stuck in a loop. apt-get -f install fails, apt-get autoclean,
etc all fail.

[Bug 829648] Re: No easy way to turn the sound menu on/off

2012-02-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Charles, the merge done there could probably benefit from the tweaks you
did from the bluetooth one, i.e drop the schemas checking, it's not
required since the schemas is part of the application, also using
g_settings_bind

Omer, if you read the wiki pointed the checkbox will be in the control
center which will be available even if the indicator is not there

[Bug 888039] Re: Gradual degradation in desktop performance.

2012-02-06 Thread Joar Jegleim
I'm still having some issues, I had some performance drop (as in very
lag'y desktop) on thursday or friday before the weekend, and I'm seeing
some symptoms again now.

I'm thinking I may have an other bug if no one else see any regression
after last update .

I'm having trouble reporting in detail since my work days are pretty hectic,
and when I hit performance problems I seldom have time to look into it 'cause
I'm in the middle of something and just have to reboot and pick up where I left
.
I'm working mainly through terminals, I've got 6 virtual desktops, 1 with
chromium and firefox, 1 with thunderbird and the rest is filled with terminator
+ I got xchat, spotify and a terminator on my second monitor 'always on visible
workspace' .

I'll just fix the webcam issue as part of this bug, although David is
correct in general that it's better not to batch these things up.

no the issue is fixed in Ubuntu 11.10 it may happen when nautilus
crashes and is not drawing the desktop.. Or in some rare cases after a
Unity crash you may face the issue but for other cases its fixed.

[Bug 783050] Re: unable to use keyboard after xdm login

2012-02-06 Thread Alfie John
I've still got the same issue (Oneiric). I'm using XDM and EvilWM.

As a work around, what I do is:

  - Alt+Ctrl+F1
  - login
  - /etc/init.d/xdm restart
  - login via XDM
  - kill the F1 console

I think the encryption is correct. By logging in via a console and then
restarting XDM, it sees the unencrypted home directory and carries on.

[Bug 927572] [NEW] Cannot enable file sync once disabled via control panel

2012-02-06 Thread Roman Yepishev
Public bug reported:

STR:

1. Open ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk
2. Go to Services tab
3. Untick File sync - syncdaemon shuts down
4. Close Ubuntu One control panel

5. Open control panel again
6. Try to enable file sync

Actual results:
SD does not start therefore it is not providing the dbus method to enable
itself. Control panel status shows File Sync error.
(org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: )

Expected results:
SD is found to be disabled and data is not being fetched from it, when SD is
enabled again, the config is modified directly and sd is started via dbus call.

[Bug 927580] [NEW] package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2012-02-06 Thread Paul Crawford
Public bug reported:

I tried updating my kernel from the current default LTS version
(2.6.32-38) to the latest version (3.0.0-15) using synaptic's option for
that. However, this failed to be usable due to the Nvidia driver. I
booted in to the older kernel and de-activated the Nvidia driver, then
booted in to the new kernel and tried to enable the latest driver (which
I assume is working as it is the same kernel as 11.10?)

Result was failure, and apport caught this crash.

[Bug 927569] Re: hard disk crushed during format

2012-02-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 841541] Re: num lock is on warning remains even after num lock is turned off (thinkpad, numlock status for laptop and external keyboard different)

2012-02-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Note sure that should be a blocker bug, it's a pretty specific
configuration (specific laptop with external keyboard use and bios
option dependent), the issue is also cosmetic

I've no real objection to just drop the numlock warning in gtk, you
would assume that numlock on is the default for most users and not
something to warn about, ideally that would be discussed upstream first
though

Note that, at least for me, bamfdaemon was restarted by the system.
Unity got confused, but it is mostly working (it believes incorrectly
that I had a nautilus window open).

This could be solved by creating a link from /usr/share/openstack-
dashboard/local/local_settings.py to /etc/openstack-
dashboard/local_settings.py:

ln -s /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py /usr/share/openstack-
dashboard/local/local_settings.py

IMHO, this should be manged by the package, not by the user.
