[Bug 1008876] Re: plugin package broken
Let me raise a point. Plugins are things that work automatically or with a minimal manual intervention. Every plugin-enabled product has rules reflected in official documentation how to work with plugins. If the platform that distributes the product breaks this user level API - it shoud provide users with an interface that doesn't make their experience worse. Requiring users a deep knowledge of the platform (not even Ubuntu, but Debian) to use high level package written in cross-platform language - is a very serious issue. And knowing a specific layout of Debian file system is the deep knowledge. The appropriate workaround against this is to enable installed plugins automatically. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008876 Title: plugin package broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hg-git/+bug/1008876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1018419] Re: grub fails to boot OS images on second hard drive
It sounds like the drive may be dieing, or at least there is some problem communicating with it. Please open the disk utility and check the SMART status of the drive. You may also want to run the long self test. If that all checks out, then try to repeat the ls (hd1,5) command and see if it consistently fails the first time, then starts working. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018419 Title: grub fails to boot OS images on second hard drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1018419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1018559] Re: authentication needed doesn't get focus when changing proxy settings
Hi Sebastien, I am using unity, but the dialog I get is not the (rather small) one used by gksudo. That one gets the focus as it should. Here I see a dialog that seems unique to gnome-control-center (why doesn't it use the gksudo mechanism anyway?) [Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
Seems totally arbitrary to me, but at least for me it worked: I read at AskUbuntu http://askubuntu.com/a/133537/71437 about this being related to the USC. In fact since removing it I did not have a single dark resume and I used to have it everytime. As said, this seems completely arbitrary. [Bug 985144] Re: Multiple File Copy I/O Failure 12.04 Precise Pangolin
My problem has this particularity, all files with this problem were create by deja dup, in a Perfect State NTFS external HD. I can access, copy, or move any file, except the created by deju dup. And after trying access (read in fact) one of this files the reading of the HD becomes irresponsible. (same error above). Tried all scans, fixes, windows fixes in this NTFS system, but the only problem is: if I try to read one of these files, the problem start, else I do everything i ever did with this unit, no problem. No badsector, in a bizarre way, the extern drives becomes unreadable, in Windows, Ubuntu, text mode linuxes, USB or Hard connected. This backup are really important to me . [Bug 1018873] [NEW] weird behavior after cancel on the Authenticate dialog (systemsettings/network/network proxy)
Public bug reported: (maybe related to #1018559) When I click cancel on the authenticate dialog from system settings/network/network proxy | apply system wide, the same dialog with (maybe) some text changed is displayed over and over (up to 6 times) until it finally stays closed. See the attached screenshots (note the text in german although my UI is in english, that text sometimes is changing ) How to reproduce: Open SystemSettings / Network, select network proxy, change the settings (e.g. from none to manual or vice versa), click Apply systemwide, click cancel on the upcoming authentication dialog . Changing the settings to automatic doesn't invoke the authentication dialog, even when selecting Apply systemwide ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-25.40-generic 3.2.18 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-25-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Jun 28 16:15:06 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release amd64 (20100427.1) SourcePackage: gnome-control-center UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-01 (58 days ago) usr_lib_gnome-control-center: deja-dup 22.0-0ubuntu2 gnome-bluetooth3.2.2-0ubuntu5 indicator-datetime 0.3.94-0ubuntu2 ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018873 Title: weird behavior after cancel on the Authenticate dialog (systemsettings/network/network proxy) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1018873/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

P.S. Thanks for your comment about Ubuntu! For me as a developer one of my favorite things about Ubuntu is that I get to interact directly with real people who use it everyday, and it's a great feeling to help a person solve a problem that they are having. I am also very appreciative that folks take the time and trouble to report the bugs or other issues they are having. You would not believe what a great help it is to us! [Bug 1018877] [NEW] Thunderbird munges new email that arrives while downloading old emails
Public bug reported: I use IMAP to access my Gmail account, which has a fair number of emails in it. When I set up Thunderbird on a new computer, it takes a while to download all of those emails (presumably for its full-text search). If a new email arrives during that time, there's a 50% chance it will get munged up with an old email. That is, the text that Thunderbird thinks is the email contains fragments of two emails. This text may not start with an email header, so the display is typically rather messed up. There is apparently no way to force Thunderbird to re-download the email, short of archiving it, letting Thunderbird notice that it's gone, and then adding it back to the inbox. Of course, now you have to download it again, and there's that chance that it'll get screwed up again. (This also destroys the order of emails in the inbox, if you like to use sort by order instead of by (alleged) time.) Note that this seems to only be an issue with the full text. I think the headers are downloaded separately, so the email shows up fine in the list of emails. It's just the display that's broken.
