[Bug 589576] Re: Mplayer and VLC problems with unicode Chinese subtitles
Another solution is to use a TTF font specifically made for Chinese, for example I got it working with 'WenQuanYi Micro Hei Mono' font. mplayer ... -sub -utf8 -font 'WenQuanYi Micro Hei Mono' This font is from package 'ttf-wqy-microhei'. I used the command 'fc- list' to find the font name. Arial, Times New Roman et al. didn't work. [Bug 1018619] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin paravirtualized DomU can't be bootet with the Ubuntu Kernel and Mainline Kernel on Xen 4.1 and Ubuntu 12.04 as Dom0
Hello Joseph, I tried the kernel revisions 23-25 of the generic and virtual kernel distributed with Ubuntu 12.04. Also I have tried to boot with the Mainline Kernel 3.1.10 from the Ubuntu Kernel Team PPA but it didn't work. Because of this fact I think it's a problem which is located at the interaction with the kernel. There was no upgrade before it's a normal Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin installed with the alternate CD. The DomU also was fresh setuped with debootstrap and never worked as PV guest. The same problem was discussed short time before the release of Ubuntu 12.04 at Askubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/126631/why-do-i-get- disk-i-o-errors-booting-the-3-2-kernel-on-a-xen-vps-server The as workaround declared fstab option barrier=0 does not solve the problem. [Bug 1018907] Re: plymouth in quantal on arm does only boot with black screen
The log shows: [ply-renderer.c] ply_renderer_open_plugin:trying to open renderer plugin /lib/plymouth/renderers/drm.so [...] [./plugin.c] load_driver:Attempting to load driver 'omapdrm' [...] [ply-renderer.c] ply_renderer_open_plugin:opened renderer plugin /lib/plymouth/renderers/drm.so [...] [./plugin.c] ply_renderer_head_map:Creating buffer for 1920x1200 renderer head [./ply-renderer-libkms-driver.c] create_buffer:Could not allocate GEM object for frame buffer: 22 So the kernel is exposing a DRM interface which is not usable by plymouth (or, according to what Oliver tells me on IRC, by anything else either). Either the kernel needs fixed, or we need to blacklist omapdrm so that we fall back to the framebuffer renderer instead, which is what was used in precise and earlier. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018907 Title: plymouth in quantal on arm does only boot with black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1018907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have found this fault too with Ubuntu Server 12.04LTS. I had installed LVM2 non-raid (it is a VM anyway) for a 2nd drive to be mounted at '/home'. The boot-time message I saw was: udevd[252]: inotify_add_watch(6, /dev/dm-0, 10) failed: Invalid argument As others have noted, installing cryptsetup makes the boot message (and delay) go away, but it is evidently a workaround not a real fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581566 Title: udevd inotify_add_watch no such directory error for physical volumes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dmraid/+bug/581566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
