[Bug 589576] Re: Mplayer and VLC problems with unicode Chinese subtitles

2012-06-28 Thread Henrik Pitkala
Another solution is to use a TTF font specifically made for Chinese, for
example I got it working with 'WenQuanYi Micro Hei Mono' font.

mplayer ... -sub -utf8 -font 'WenQuanYi Micro Hei Mono'

This font is from package 'ttf-wqy-microhei'. I used the command 'fc-
list' to find the font name. Arial, Times New Roman et al. didn't work.
This works in Ubuntu 12.04.

I am running ubuntu 12.04. The link to the patch mentioned in bugzilla
no longer works. Has this patch been applied to Ubuntu's package or is
there a way to correct this?

thanks

kesten

Dear Christopher,

Thank you for taking time to answer on such a short notice.

I ran the command, it seems apport was already running.

Reproducing the crash is very difficult, I haven't been able to do it
yet. But now that the debug symbols are installed, if it happens again
we're more well off. This is what my crash directory looks like now. Is
there something of interest for you?

I tried

ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_libreoffice_program_soffice.bin.1000.crash

which results in a window saying an internal error has happened, but it
looks like the file is not sent?

I hope I was of some use, let's hope the crash happens again now that
the debug symbols are installed.

@Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt): Any chance of getting the patch for bug
#974242 included in your preproposed PPA as well? I just tried the
patch out using a different PPA and it works great. The only problem is
that the other PPA doesn't include the patch for bug #862430 so I'm
stuck with that bug again.

Maybe the files you added are in the so-called «queue» (Edit → Queue →
Clear). Gave me a hard time as well.

issued as a security fix for previous releases?

Hello Sam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted compiz into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.1 in a few
hours and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing
this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed
for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will
aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case details of your testing will
help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the
verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1018619] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin paravirtualized DomU can't be bootet with the Ubuntu Kernel and Mainline Kernel on Xen 4.1 and Ubuntu 12.04 as Dom0

2012-06-28 Thread Lukas Laukamp
Hello Joseph,

I tried the kernel revisions 23-25 of the generic and virtual kernel
distributed with Ubuntu 12.04. Also I have tried to boot with the
Mainline Kernel 3.1.10 from the Ubuntu Kernel Team PPA but it didn't
work. Because of this fact I think it's a problem which is located at
the interaction with the kernel.

There was no upgrade before it's a normal Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin
installed with the alternate CD. The DomU also was fresh setuped with
debootstrap and never worked as PV guest.

The same problem was discussed short time before the release of Ubuntu
12.04 at Askubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/126631/why-do-i-get-
disk-i-o-errors-booting-the-3-2-kernel-on-a-xen-vps-server

The as workaround declared fstab option barrier=0 does not solve the
problem.

Best Regards

[Bug 1018907] Re: plymouth in quantal on arm does only boot with black screen

2012-06-28 Thread Steve Langasek
The log shows:

[ply-renderer.c] ply_renderer_open_plugin:trying to open
renderer plugin /lib/plymouth/renderers/drm.so
[...]
[./plugin.c] load_driver:Attempting to load
driver 'omapdrm'
[...]
[ply-renderer.c] ply_renderer_open_plugin:opened renderer
plugin /lib/plymouth/renderers/drm.so
[...]
[./plugin.c] ply_renderer_head_map:Creating buffer for
1920x1200 renderer head
[./ply-renderer-libkms-driver.c]
create_buffer:Could not allocate GEM object for frame buffer: 22

So the kernel is exposing a DRM interface which is not usable by
plymouth (or, according to what Oliver tells me on IRC, by anything else
either). Either the kernel needs fixed, or we need to blacklist omapdrm
so that we fall back to the framebuffer renderer instead, which is what
was used in precise and earlier.

[Bug 1018873] Re: weird behavior after "cancel" on the Authenticate dialog (systemsettings/network/network proxy)

2012-06-28 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
So this looks to me as though each change is applied separately, and
each with its own authentication: once for the system service, and
however many times for each gconf key that needs changing. There ought
to be a better way; I'll look at the code to see if I can figure it out.

[Bug 1001068] Re: debchange: "quantal" is the default distribution in precise

2012-06-28 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Paul, or anyone else affected,

Accepted devscripts into precise-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devscripts/2.11.6ubuntu1.3 in a few
hours and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing
this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed
for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will
aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case details of your testing will
help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the
verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 581566] Re: udevd inotify_add_watch no such directory error for physical volumes

2012-06-28 Thread Dominic Raferd
I have found this fault too with Ubuntu Server 12.04LTS. I had installed
LVM2 non-raid (it is a VM anyway) for a 2nd drive to be mounted at
'/home'.

The boot-time message I saw was:
udevd[252]: inotify_add_watch(6, /dev/dm-0, 10) failed: Invalid argument

As others have noted, installing cryptsetup makes the boot message (and
delay) go away, but it is evidently a workaround not a real fix.

[Bug 1018933] [NEW] NetworkManager does not connect eth0

2012-06-28 Thread Frank Denissen
Public bug reported:

NetworkManager does not start eth0 when /etc/network/interfaces only
contains "lo auto", " iface lo inet loopback" and "eth0 auto".

The connection only comes available when /etc/network/interfaces contains
additionally "iface eth0 inet dhcp".

[Bug 994577] Re: NM keeps trying to reconnect to wifi, "No agents were available for this request"

2012-06-28 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Is that connection set to "Available to all users"? Please try to toggle
that setting (turn it off if it's on, turn it on if it's off) and see if
it improves the situation.

Could you also please attach .xsession-errors? If secrets are missing;
NM will ask the applet. If the applet doesn't successfully respond then
you'd be stuck with no secrets.

Thanks Stéphane,

This isn't a security flaw per se requiring a CVE. If you have something
to SRU in previous releases, you can include this, else we'll bundle it
next time we do have a security issue to fix.

[Bug 608701] Re: vino establishes a HTTP connection to check connectivity

2012-06-28 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Jonathan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted vino into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vino/3.4.2-0ubuntu1.1
in a few hours and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by
testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case details of your testing will
help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the
verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!
