[Bug 937522] Re: rdp clipboard sync doesn't work anymore.

2012-08-15 Thread Martin G Miller
Damir Butmir:
This may be a problem on the Windows machine itself. There are 2 things to
try.

First, put something in the clipboard by ctrl-c ing any random text on
your local Linux machine before trying to copy from the XP box. If this
works, then I agree, its' still a bug in Remmina, even if the dev says
it's normal behavior.

Second, the XP remote clipboard in Windows may be hung. I have found
this to be a problem NOT exclusive to RDP in Linux. It is also reported
as a long standing problem in all Windows OS's when running RDP. Once
you have the remote session open, run the Windows task manager (right
click the task bar and select task manager) and look for the process
rdpclip.exe. End task on this process and then at the top of the task
manager window, click on File New Task (Run) and enter rdpclip.exe in
the dialog box and run it. Now try your clipboard and see if it is
working.

If that fixes it for you, then it's a Windows problem. I have created a
small batch file that I leave on the Windows desktop that I can click on
to quickly end and restart the rdpclip.exe.

Place the following in a file called clipboard.bat
Taskkill.exe /im rdpclip.exe
Rdpclip.exe

I actually got this info from a Windows discussion site where many
people who only run Windows were having the same problem.

[Bug 966222] Re: Launch feedback near-invisible for applications with big square icons

2012-08-15 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Description changed:

  unity 5.8.0-0ubuntu2, Ubuntu Pangolin

- 1. Add an application to the launcher that has a square, maximum-sized icon.
For example, guake, gpicview, screenruler, extcalc, or recoll.
+ 1. Add an application to the launcher that has a square, maximum-sized icon.
For example, guake, gpicview, screenruler, extcalc, recoll, or Treasure Catch.
  2. Click on the launcher tile.

What you see: The launching feedback is almost impossible to see.

What you should see: Launcher feedback is very easy to see.

The simplest way to fix this would be to throb the application icon, as
well as (or instead of) its background.

Another way to fix it would be to animate launching applications in a
  different way.

It may save time to design the fix for bug 838050 at the same time as
  this bug.

[Bug 794835] Re: Wishlist: Alt-F2 integration with Bash/readline/.bash_history

2012-08-15 Thread selkovjr
And it should place a highlight on the first of possibly many
altertatives and let me launch it by pressing enter.

For example, I should be able to launch google-chrome by simply typing
gooEnter, even though there is google-earth further down the list.
Also, I should be able to move selection using arrows. It is very
annoying to have to switch from keyboard to mose interaction just to
launch an app.

The readline functionality was there just recently; where did it go?

I think the history should be a simple hash, rather that a list, and it
should be unlimited. I can't remember a single day during the entire
history of bash (or tcsh) history when I needed to know the order of my
commands. I only needed to recall and edit them.

So I don't think it will be good to link it to bash history, as it is.
Order is not important.

   New

 Bug description:
   Ubuntu 11.04
   reference:
 http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/007904975/basedefs/inttypes.h.html

inttypes.h defines macros for fixed integer types. The ones for 8-
and 16-bit types are currently the same as the 32-bit types, which
   pretty much makes them useless.

PRIx16 is x I suggest it should be hx
PRIx8 is xI suggest it should be hhx

Otherwise, only by excruciatingly correct typecasting in the printf can you
get the correct output for something like
   int16_t this = -1;
   printf(% PRIx16 \n, this);

As it stands, it will print 8 hex digits. It makes more sense for it
   to print 4.

As it stands in K3b 1.91.0, the docs shipped with K3b haven't been
touched since K3b 1.x days. The screenshots are all for KDE3, and
there's even an entire section on the DCOP interface. There's also
grammatically ...unique... passages such as:

In this dialog is nothing you can do. Just wait for you computer to
finish the session.

At this point, I think that it'd be better to just skip the
documentation for 2.0, as the current documentation contains a lot of
useless, outdated information, outdated screenshots, and generally gives
off an unprofessional vibe.

[Bug 1037112] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-08-15 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for liblvm2app2.2: package version
2.02.88-2ubuntu2 dbgsym version 2.02.66-4ubuntu7.1
outdated debug symbol package for initscripts: package version
2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu13 dbgsym version 2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu11.1
outdated debug symbol package for module-init-tools: package version
3.16-1ubuntu3 dbgsym version 3.16-1ubuntu2

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1037115] [NEW] Repeated SRP logins trigger a kernel crash

2012-08-15 Thread Bart Van Assche
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:
1. Install ib_srpt r4468 from the SCST trunk on a target system.
2. On an initiator system connected via InfiniBand to the target system,
install Ubuntu 12.04.
3. Run the following commands on the initiator system (where the login string
must be modified according to the target login details):

modprobe ib_srp
for ((i=0;i100;i++)); do echo -n $i ; echo
'id_ext=0002c9030005f34e,ioc_guid=0002c9030005f34e,dgid=fe82c9030005f350,pkey=,service_id=0002c9030005f34e'
 /sys/class/infiniband_srp/srp-mlx4_0-1/add_target; done

Initiator details:

[Bug 1037114] [NEW] Cannot start VPN plugin authentication dialogs

2012-08-15 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Public bug reported:

All NetworkManager VPN plugins fail to start with an error in keyfile
load_from_data():

JS ERROR: !!! error while reading VPN plugin output keyfile
JS ERROR: !!! message = 'Cannot convert string to array of 'utf8''
JS ERROR: !!! fileName =
'/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/networkAgent.js'

([object _private_Gio_DataInputStream],[object
_private_Gio_SimpleAsyncResult])@/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/networkAgent.js:517
'

I started debugging this bug couldn't get much farther than noting the
issue is with taking the string data in load_from_data(). Here is some
example data from a VPN plugin, which fails to be parsed. The same
applies if Gnome Shell is started with LC_ALL=C, and all the data passed
from the plugins is in English:

[Bug 1009855] Re: 1814:0601 Linksys WMP600n stop working in a few minutes

2012-08-15 Thread Dan Keefe
I'm also experiencing this issue with the WMP600N. It's too bad that
these bug reports keep expiring!

To add to the info, the WMP600N does seem to work as long as I
reconnect. I have a dual band router, so as soon as it drops I just
choose the other band's SSID. It will often work for a while and then
drop again.

[Bug 1010441] Re: PUT plugin can't move window to next monitor when placed with CTRL ALT NUMLOCK

2012-08-15 Thread FuzzyQ
I think it's important to note that the problem occurs with latest compiz
versions 1:0.9.7.8-ubuntu1.4 (precise-proposed) and 1:0.9.7.8-ubuntu1.2
(precise-updates).
It does not, however, occur with version 1:0.9.7.8-0ubuntu-1vvpreproposed2
(precise).

The whole PUT and GRID plugins are misbehaving. I can't move a window
from one monitor to the other, much less from one desktop to the other.

Just as a side note: the preproposed package of compiz delivers very
much less issues as the proposed does. The only gain I experienced so
far from proposed package is less cpu usage than preproposed. And I'm
suffering the blank window regression bug from both packages.

[Bug 1037120] [NEW] [HP Pavilion dv6z Notebook PC, IDT 92HD81B1X5, Black Headphone Out, Front] volume slider problem

2012-08-15 Thread Daniel Lemnaru
Public bug reported:

Volume seems to work fine on the built-in laptop speakers (4 of them).
When headphones are plugged in (two stereo headphone outputs), volume
cuts to zero once the 16% level is reached in Master channel (as seen in
alsamixer).

I suspect that the headphones are not properly detected/setup, because I
have no analog headphones profile to choose in pavu/sound settings, as
I heard some other people have. This seems to be similar to the issue
described at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1850159 (different
hardware, but a similar two headphone plugs hardware), and partially
with the issue described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/429844

The solutions presented (ignore_dB=1, channel=PCM etc.,) didn't work.

that we have the correct ubuntu-defaults package installed and that it
is pulling in the correct language packs, this should be translated at

hi,

it seems cue sheets are still under development so this is just a
reminder:

* please also integrate the tracks defined in the cue sheet in the collection
* use cue sheet bookmarks for file that are in collection (currently works only
when addy files using the file browser)

Martin, you can not compare Amarok 2.x with Amarok 1.x. Amarok 2 has

doesn't mean if it was there in 1.4, that it will be back in 2.0.

I still miss this feature too. I guess we have to wait just a little bit
longer. :)

support external cue (what about this bug), and better to implement cue
support step by step - support external cue for first, and support of
embedded cue later. Then better set 230272 openede like a different bug.

2012-08-15 Thread Dale Maris
I may se what is happing. A few weeks, maybe a few months ago I did not
apply all the updates to Evolution as I use Thunderbird for my e-mail.
I thought that may be a mistake, but I dont know how to undo this. When
I run update manager, I have 3 unchecked boxes for Evolution. Maybe I
need to reinstall Evolution?

[Bug 956051] Re: libc6 crash while running 'xm'

2012-08-15 Thread Tom Worley
Can I ask that the Precise fix gets put into 12.04.1 LTS as at the moment the
12.04 LTS installer will not install on XenServer, this would make a big
difference rather than having to try and install 11.10 and then upgrade (if the
correct package will be used in the upgrade).
This is quite an urgent issue for Xen/XenServer/XCP users meaning that the LTS
edition can't be used on a very large range of servers and virtual machines
either by installing it directly or by upgrading.
Thanks very much.

Tom Worley

[Bug 1037125] [NEW] Bluetooth device AR3012 not working properly

2012-08-15 Thread Miroslav Sabljić
Public bug reported:

This is a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 with latest updates on my new
laptop Toshiba Satellite L850-12W. Laptop has bluetooth device Atheros
AR3012 which isn't working properly with any of the Precise kernels
available. Device VID/PID is 0930:0219.

The simptoms are different but there are few that are constant.
a) device is recognized and enabled but the search isn't working (laptop can't
find any other bluetooth device and other devices can't find laptop). Bluetooth
visibility is turned on but regardles search isn't working, i.e. hcitool scan
just finishes and doesn't print anything.
b) sometimes the device isn't enabled after boot and it isn't listed in lsusb
output, therefor hci0 isn't existing and in this case bluetooth doesn't work at
all.

When the device is recognized and enabled if I shutdown my laptop then after a
new start device isn't recognized at all and it isn't listed in lsusb output.
Also if bluetooth device is enabled and if I hibernate/suspend my laptop after
wake-up form hibernate/suspend device isn't present anymore and it isn't listed
in lsusb.
In situations when my device isn't enabled I noticed that rebooting in windows
helps. Every time when the device isn't enabled if I reboot in Windows 7 and
then boot again to Ubuntu the device will be enabled and working properly but
as long as I reboot or shutdown Ubuntu and start Ubuntu againg the device isn't
working properly.

I'm willing to help debuging this further and help to resolve this
issue.

I'm reporting this bug to linux package because when I was investigating
this problem on google I noticed that it is related to btusb and ath3k
modules. If this isn't true please point where to submit this bug.

I tested your kernel from
http://people.canonical.com/~jsalisbury/lp1030894 and it does not fix
the problem.

2012-08-15 Thread Michal Hruby

was indeed improving the situation a lot.

[Bug 1037134] [NEW] Variable wait when going out of suspend using xfce/xubuntu

2012-08-15 Thread Aleksandar Ivanovic
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS xfce/xubuntu

What happened is for a long time I had an issue that when I want to work
on always on computer and I want to get the screen, the screen would be
black with one line on top (with time) somewhat available and mouse
would be working but nothing else. The time of the wait would depend how
long I didn't use the machine. If I login for another machine and do top
I would see that CPU is being used to process something graphical.

I was able to fix the bug when playing with screen saver controls. Even
though I was running xfce/xubuntu gnome screen saver was active and
making problems and ubuntu offer to kill gnome screen saver which I
accepted.

I might get the same issue if I restart the machine but the problem is
hopefully fixed now for me I just wanted to share the knowledge.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
