[Bug 1061169] Re: Installation prompt needs internationalization support

2012-10-03 Thread David Planella
** Description changed:

Right now whenever the user navigates to a site with webapp support, the
browser prompts them with a message describing that there is an
integration script available and whether they want to install it or not.

This message is in English only, which breaks consistency on desktops
(and browsers) localized in other languages, as well as making it
difficult for those not fluent in English to understand what they are
  actually being asked.

The messages need to be marked for translation, extracted and exposed in
Launchpad Translations, and then translations either loaded at runtime
or embedded in the script at build time (or a mixture of the two,
  whatever the best approach is).
+
+ This affects the components/unity_webapps.js script

Ok. Could you downgrade the version of libqca2 library in your system

For example, fast way:
wget -c

sudo dpkg -i libqca2_2.0.3-2_amd64.deb

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-10-03 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Why are you talking about notifications and password prompts, the computer
should shut down (by default) of course!
It could prompt and say "X is logged in, are you really sure you want to shut
down?" but nothing more. If an admin wants to disable it there should be a way
to do that instead.
Let's say I'm logged in but I'm not at home and my wife wants to shut down the
computer. Of course she should be allowed to!

Therefore I think setting org.freedesktop.consolekit.system.stop-
multiple-users to allow_active=yes is a great and correct solution.
What's missing there is a local override solution so and admin of a
multi-seat server could turn it off for example without having it
overwritten everytime policykit updates.

[Bug 1059347] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV after selecting 'KDE compaitibility' in CCSM, while running Unity

2012-10-03 Thread Edward Donovan
I don't know, Marius, it just came up for me, as usual. Compiz was
gone, and I did have to click 'Relaunch' on the apport window, to get a
window manager again. But it sounds like you didn't even get to that
point. I guess you could check whether you have a

  ~/.apport-ignore

file, just in case.

I haven't had an opportunity yet where I'm free to crash my desktop
session, again. But hopefully soon.

OSSv4 seems like it would be a fairly small portion of the jackd2 Linux

Would it be an adequate compromise to compile and ship only the OSS

[Bug 1049028] Re: Unable to create gmail account

2012-10-03 Thread paraiko
additionally: I managed to add my gmail account to evo by unchecking the
contacts/calendar boxes
I also manually added contacts to evolution from the contacts tab and it works.
I could now also display my google contacts in the gnome-contacts app while
this was previously not possible, both contacts and calendar did not showup
after adding my gmail account to gnome-online-accounts.

To me this still feels as if it is not an evo bug, but something related
to the (gnome-)online-accounts plumbing in ubuntu, but unfortunately a
feeling is not the same as proof ;)

[Bug 1061190] [NEW] could not mount /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 M for manual S for skip

2012-10-03 Thread David Nemeskey
Public bug reported:

I get the message in the bug summary during the boot process. The boot
takes quite a long time and also, the Resources tab in the Gnome System
Monitor reports the swap is not available.

I am on 12.04, and during installation, I selected the "encrypted home"
option. Though it is a fresh install, I left my /home partition intact,
and it dates back to ... I don't even know, maybe 10.04? At first I
installed Kubuntu, but since then I have changed to Unity and I have
uninstalled the Kubuntu desktop.

I am aware of bug #874774, but I felt the need to open a new bug report,
since even though the fix has supposedly already been released for that
one, I still experience this problem.

[Bug 928434] Re: update-manager doesn't remember its position on screen

2012-10-03 Thread Edwin Lee
I see this all the time...perhaps every time update manager is opened.
I have additional behavior such as the window "size" is maximized, but
it is not positioned properly. Part of the window appears on my
secondary monitor, or off-screen, as the case may be. Perhaps this is
the same effect as mentioned in previous comments. Another perhaps
related issue is that occasionally the update manager window is all
white, no widgets or data shown. When I *actually* maximize the window,
it is properly refreshed and everything appears properly. Seems all
related, but I guess we'll see.

I am running 12.04 (64-bit), which was upgraded from 11.10 way back
when. I don't believe I saw this behavior back on 11.10.

[Bug 1061195] [NEW] Can't create EWS or MAPI account

2012-10-03 Thread Steve Riley
Public bug reported:

Evolution appears unable to create an EW or MAPI account. All the steps
proceed normally, including fetching the URL (for EWS) or authenticating
(for MAPI). However, at the conclusion of account creation process, no
actual account appears in the list.

I've tried starting Evolution from the command line using various DEBUG_
variables and there are no EWS- or MAPI-specific errors. So I'm not
exactly sure what to do next.

I am fairly certain the problem doesn't lie with my corporate Exchange
server, as web mail works fine and any other EWS-capable client (like
the mail app in Android).

[Bug 999977] Re: [rt73usb] WPA2 Authentication Requested Multiple Times

2012-10-03 Thread Edwin Lee
This bug is so annoying! I am running a new dell XPS17, my wife is on a
Dell Inspiron something...not new. Often times when we open her
computer lid there are dozens of Wireless Network Authorization dialogs
piled up on top of each other. To clear them all at one, I just right
click on the little wifi icon and click quit, which closes all instances
of the dialog. The wireless is still connected. On my XPS, I often see
this while I am connected to my LAN at work. Even though I have a fine
connection to the internet, these dialogs pop up every few minutes,
albeit intermittently. Will attach syslog when it pops up next.

[Bug 1060200] Re: Detect in the postinst that resolvconf is installed but /etc/resolv.conf is not a symlink to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf

2012-10-03 Thread Thomas Hood
Hi Mathieu,

The idea is to do it when the new network-manager installed which
listens at 127.01.1 instead of at 127.0.0.1. The old NM worked with an
empty or absent /etc/resolv.conf; the new one doesn't.

Yes, it is resolvconf's job to do take care of /etc/resolv.conf, but the
sudden termination of name service will only arise when NM is also being
used. So it's convenient if network-manager maintainer scripts performs
the check. It could also be implement in a resolvconf maintainer
script. It doesn't really matter where it's implemented.

We are extremely respectful of the nonstandard configuration where
/etc/resolv.conf is not a symlink to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf. The
/sbin/resolvconf program never touches /etc/resolv.conf at all and the
resolvconf package makes one and only one attempt to convert
/etc/resolv.conf into a symlink, doing this only if an affirmative
answer is given to a debconf question. This is all fine. But this
respectfulness just expands the problem I am addressing here, the
problem of there being a significant number of systems out there which
--- unintentionally --- are missing /etc/resolv.conf, which currently
have name service via nm-dnsmasq, but which won't have name service
after upgrading to 12.10, resulting in some unhappy admins.

[Bug 1048000] Re: Precise: Very slow boot / Unity 3d does not start on some USB drives

2012-10-03 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
> I'm highly suspecting that the issue is simply the USB driver or the

Since everything works fine in oneiric, you are probably right. The
question then is, should I file a bug against the kernel or usb module?
There certainly is a problem in precise, with some USB drives.

> Note that USB disks can easily range from 2MB/s to 40MB/s, so the
brand does matter a lot.

My drives were in the range of 13-23 MB/s. However, how should a slow
data rate prevent Unity from starting up? I'd expect it to start up, but
slowly. Instead, it does not start up at all.

Re: [Bug 993939] Re: 12.04 Desktrop fails to load kernel; CPU has no PAE feature

2012-10-03 Thread Stan Osborne
Developers are building personal distros with the PAE kernel.
This allows people who are willing to download a non-supported
equivalent release to continue installing new releases of Ubuntu
on old hardare. There is no technical reason for locking people
out of the future, it is soley a political one. This prevents
the bottom feeders from receiving the benevolence of the work
done to cater to the 1%. It also means Ubuntu is not longer for
everyone.

[Bug 1061206] [NEW] launcher/auto-hide-clickhold and auto-hide-clickmove reversed expected result

2012-10-03 Thread Carla Sella
Public bug reported:

In Unity Launcher in Unity for Unity 6.6 & Lenses Testing in these two
tests:

Test-case launcher/auto-hide-clickhold

1 -Make sure auto-hide is enabled.
2 -Move the mouse to the left edge of the screen and make the launcher
revealing (by other pushing on the left for 3D or just waiting for 2D)
1 - Launcher appears
3- Click on an application launcher icon and don't move the mouse
1 -Launcher should disappear [2D: fail, lp:898238]

Test-case launcher/auto-hide-clickmove

1- Make sure auto-hide is enabled.
2 - Move the mouse to the left edge of the screen and make the launcher
revealing (by other pushing on the left for 3D or just waiting for 2D)
   1 - Launcher appears
3 -Click on an application launcher icon and immediately move the mouse to
another launcher icon
1 - Launcher should not disappear

at point 3 the expected result: "Launcher should disappear [2D: fail,
lp:898238]" on the first and "Launcher should not disappear" on the
second are reversed.

What happens to me is that in Test-case launcher/auto-hide-clickhold
the launcher does not disappear and in Test-case launcher/auto-hide-
clickmove the launcher disappears.

[Bug 105519] Re: livecd clock is (inevitably) wrong

2012-10-03 Thread Stéphane Graber
casper isn't touching the clock at boot time.
ntpdate is triggered by ifupdown which sets the clock to the right time. The
timezone is going to be UTC until a location is selected in ubiquity at which
point the clock will change to reflect the timezone change.

I think the current behaviour is correct, though it indeed could be
slightly improved by having NetworkManager parse the dhcp flag and
expose that to the desktop environment somehow.

** Description changed:

  Hello,

I'm a developer of the Cairo-Dock team and if I load libsyncindicator.so with
"indicator_object_new_from_file" and then display the menu of the first
IndicatorObjectEntry of the list, this is what I have:
http://uppix.net/3/1/c/dc16dc9cb56675b3cb5b0d6c7145b.png
(the first menu entry has this text ":1.71" (instead of "Ubuntu One") and the
icon is wrong)

It seems ":1.71" corresponds to the Bus name.
I don't have this problem with other indicators (e.g. libmessaging.so,
libpower.so, libprintersmenu.so, libsession.so or libsoundmenu.so) or do I need
to do something else after having loaded 'libsyncindicator.so'?

  Thank you!

Re: [Bug 1058883] Re: start-on conditions in Upstart script prevent aiccu from restarting during resume from suspend

2012-10-03 Thread Caleb Callaway
I'm not sure why the restart is there. Perhaps it's trying to guarantee the
routing tables are correct. Or perhaps it's intended to start up the aiccu
daemon if the computer is suspended on a network with native IPv6 support,
then resumed on a network without native IPv6 support, where the aiccu
daemon is needed. It also restarts aiccu if ping6 isn't found, not sure why.

Just in case it wasn't clear, the sleep.d script is part of the default
installation as well--I don't have a link, but it can be easily verified by
downloading the aiccu source package and looking for the file `60aiccu` in
the debian/ directory.

[Bug 1060722] Re: Nautilus does not obey Previews preferences for files other than pictures

2012-10-03 Thread Lisa Schmidt
** Description changed:

Setting Nautilus preferences for previews to generate thumbnails only
for files smaller than X does not have any effect on non-images.

For example, if I set in Nautilus preferences to show thumbnails only
for files smaller than 10 MB. Then Nautilus generates thumbnails only
for images smaller than 10 MB -- but not for any other file type.
Nautilus still generates thumbnails for non-images, such as videos or
pdf files, regardless of their file size.

This is a huge problem for users who have lots of big sized video files
and don't want them to get thumbnailed, but want to keep thumbnailing
  for pictures.
+
+ It gets especially annoying when downloading huge video files. Then the
+ thumbnailing process goes on and on unless the file has finished
+ downloading. As a user I feel forced to switch off thumbnailing
+ completely as Nautilus fails to obey what is being set in the
+ preferences.

** Summary changed:

- Nautilus does not obey Previews preferences for files other than pictures

[Bug 1060200] Re: Detect in the postinst that resolvconf is installed but /etc/resolv.conf is not a symlink to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf

2012-10-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I still don't follow. There were no significant changes to how NM
handles /etc/resolv.conf from the version in 12.04 to the version in
12.10; and certainly nothing that would cause things to be handled
differently if /etc/resolv.conf is not a symlink or is absent.

The IP address change has no impact to this -- if people decided to
break their setup by making resolv.conf a standard file, by removing it
or otherwise, we should also be respectful of *that* and ultimately not
revert their changes (which may or may not have been done for a good
reason).

Can you further explain what you mean? Provide an example setup, or even
a patch?

However, there really *should not be* any such changes to the postinst
or any NM maintainer scripts to touch /etc/resolv.conf; it's just not
the right place to do these things. Instead, if we need to cover an
extra case where NM is failing to do the right thing, that fix can go in
src/dns-manager/nm-dns-manager.c or one of the other source files in
that directory.
