[Bug 750386] Re: compiz crashed with SIGABRT in raise() from abort() from __libc_message() from malloc_printerr() from _int_free()

2012-10-03 Thread Joey Stanford
Apparently this is still happening to many people (including myself) and
I'm getting pings and emails about the work-around that I've discovered.
This is the script that I use. Don't trust me... research this
yourself.

1) I login at lightdm and verify that launching anything from Unity causes a
hang/crash/freeze.
2) I control-alt 1 to a console terminal and login
3) I run this script (replace me with your login name. I've called it
fixcompiz.sh

#!/bin/sh
sudo service lightdm stop
rm -rf /home/me/.compiz*
rm -rf /home/me/.cache/.compiz*
sudo service lightdm start

4) when lightdm starts it forces me over to console 7 where I can just
login and continue on my happy way with a working system.

I have to perform the above 4 steps on my two nvidia machines on every
boot.

[Bug 1060991] [NEW] Desktop entry name is way too vague - makes finding in USC difficult

This is a Searhorse Nautilus plugin to decrypt AND encrypt a file which

This makes USC have the title of this package Decrypt File which makes
finding it difficult.

[Bug 1058641] Re: No devices detected radeon regression

2012-10-03 Thread 2blue
I have the last iBook G4 with ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 card, and it
seems to work all fine when adding video=radeonfb:1024x768-32@60 in the
boot stage. I have installed and computer has booted fine the last two
days. When using video=offonly nothing works; coarse pixeled screen
image and non working installer.

How do you make sure the radeon driver and graphics card are activated,
or even check for it?

[Bug 978430] Re: Enter hangs when using it entering password with onboard in lightdm

2012-10-03 Thread Michael Terry
OK, I have a branch that merely turns the SIGKILL into SIGTERM (a
simpler change this late in the cycle). I also uploaded it as a patch
to Ubuntu.

Thank you marmuta and Francesco for walking me through this, as I
couldn't reproduce. I'm eager to hear if 12.10.4-0ubuntu3 will fix this
for you.

(FYI marmuta, I couldn't have merged your branch if I wanted to. You

for unity-greeter. http://www.canonical.com/contributors )

[Bug 365300] Re: Randomly I get double clicks when I do a single click.

2012-10-03 Thread Thomas Pilarski
Did someone experience this problem on an non Logitech mouse?

I exchanged many Logitech mouse at my dealer because of this problem.
The problem appears at the Performance MX after one month of usage, even
under windows. After exchanging the mouse the problem disappears. My
Anywhere MX mouse was exchanged after a year, after sending in to
Logitech. Same with Logitech V270 Cordless. Logitech is just using cheap
micro switches, which cause this problem. I even exchanged the micro
switches in one mouse, which solved the problem.

Perhaps the windows driver has a software debouncing and the problem
appears much later.

[Bug 1046088] Re: No Brightness Control on ASUS G75VW Notbook (304.43)

2012-10-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the
issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0] and first email the
appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then a bug may be
opened on bugzilla.kernel.org.

[Bug 1060831] Re: Sierra/ZTE LTE modem gives no signal quality in LTE mode (only in 3G/2G mode)

2012-10-03 Thread Aleksander Morgado
+CSQ is usually defined as a value between 1 and 31; plus 99 for
unknown. ModemManager scales this value to the expected [0,100] range.

The signal strength reported with QMI is based on RSSI, which we then
convert to the same [0,100] range.

[Bug 1060395] Re: Installing local deb gives an error in packagekit

2012-10-03 Thread Matthias Klumpp
PackageKit is the backend, the small background tool which does all the work.
GNOME-PackageKit is the frontend, which just provides the UI. (Most stuff you
reported is against the backend daemon packagekit, not gpk so I reassigned it)
I already solved the issue you descibe above differently in Debian some time
ago - it will flow back with the next Ubuntu release.

[Bug 1060489] Re: FTBFS due to build-dep conflicts

2012-10-03 Thread Barry Warsaw
This was very likely caused by the libgdata 0.13.1-0ubuntu2 upload which
added a dependency from libgdata to liboauth-dev (and thus added the
libcurl4-nss-dev dependency which conflicts with libetpan-dev's libcurl4
-gnutls-dev). Don't look at the changelog for libgdata, cause it got
cut off.

Subscribing the developer that uploaded the last libgdata.

[Bug 1060200] Re: Detect in the postinst that resolvconf is installed but /etc/resolv.conf is not a symlink to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf

2012-10-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
This shouldn't be done in a postinst (because the state can change after
NM is installed), and is resolvconf's job to handle.

We can try to play nice and avoid trampling settings if /etc/resolv.conf
isn't a symlink though. Didn't we already discuss this and apply such a
patch? :)

[Bug 1059520] Re: dnsdomainname not set from DHCP

2012-10-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Indeed, it would be.

The question is, should we change this, considering that we've already
removed such behavior for the hostname.

Arguable, it's simpler and safer to change the domain name...

What does this affect? Does the current behavior break something besides
the output of hostname/fqdn?

[Bug 1059065] Re: Network Manager does not connect the network adapter to a network with a DHCP server automatically

2012-10-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
That is expected behavior; you'll want to create a new connection for
fixed rather than modifying the default one. In any case, if the default
dhcp connection is changed, you should have two connections so that
standard DHCP can still work for wired.

Since this isn't a bug but expected behavior, I'm closing this report as
Invalid.

[Bug 1061015] [NEW] Will not stream mp3 over SOCKS proxy

2012-10-03 Thread emptythevoid
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit and Audacious 3.2.1 (also can reproduce on
version 3.3.2)

Although Audacious has a setting to use a network proxy, it seems that
proxies created using SSH (ssh -C -D), which are SOCKS proxies, do not
work when streaming mp3s (such as SomaFM's streaming mp3s). I've tested
that the proxy works just fine otherwise, and I have configured
Audacious with the same proxy configuration as Firefox. The only
difference I can see is that Audacious doesn't ask if it's an HTTP proxy
or a SOCKS proxy, which makes me suspect that's where it's breaking
down.

2012-10-03 Thread Kuba Iwanicki
Thanx Joseph! That patched kernel for 32bit restore sound in my Acer Aspire One
722.
I removed kernel linux-headers-3.5.0-16 and install Yours.
 Really good work!

Regards,
Kuba
