[Bug 1095684] [NEW] Ubiquity crashes upon clicking 'New partition table' twice in the manual partitioning step during raring installation
Public bug reported: Clicking 'New partiong table' for the second time makes the ubiquity crash. This occurs with all the raring desktop images (i386 and amd64- 20130103). Also occurrs on VMs and HWs. The steps to reproduce: 1. Start the raring installation (live session or otherwise) with 20130103 amd64 or i386 image 2. Click continue on the Welcome screen 3. Click continue on Preparing to install Ubuntu 4. Select 'Something else' and click continue on the Installation type screen 5. Click New partition table 6. Click again on 'New partition table' button (this button appears grayed out but clickable and hence it could be clicked accidentally) 7. Now the crash could be observed. ( apport does not allow bug reporting from the 'Ubuntu 13.04 has experienced an internal error' dialog box hence report using ubuntu-bug ubiquity and the crash file is attached) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: ubiquity 2.13.7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.7.0-7.15-generic 3.7.0 Uname: Linux 3.7.0-7-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.7-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.330 Date: Thu Jan 3 15:19:24 2013 InstallCmdLine: file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130103) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug qa-daily-testing qa-manual-testing raring running-unity ubiquity-2.13.7 ** Attachment added: "_usr_lib_ubiquity_bin_ubiquity.0.crash" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095684/+attachment/3473339/+files/_usr_lib_ubiquity_bin_ubiquity.0.crash -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095684 Title: Ubiquity crashes upon clicking 'New partition table' twice in the manual partitioning step during raring installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1095684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1095686] [NEW] xorg needs to be updated to allow quantal xserver stack to be installed
Public bug reported: Right now installing xserver-xorg-lts-quantal will uninstall xorg, and as a side effect ubuntu-desktop. A small update to xorg is required to deal with this. Multiple changes are required: - xorg needs to allow xserver-xorg-renamed to satisfy its xserver-xorg dependency. - xserver-xorg must not be coinstallable with renamed packages, so explicitly depend on versions there. - xserver-xorg-lts-precise gets added for smoother rollback, it recommends libgl1-mesa-dri/glx unrenamed, and video/input-all unrenamed. Normally because of the xserver-xorg might not install either, but the recommends should allow easier rollback. - xserver-xorg also provides/replaces/conflicts with xserver-xorg-renamed, so xserver-xorg-lts-* cannot be coinstalled accidentally with xserver-xorg. - xserver-xorg replaces/conflicts with xorg-renamed-package, so installing xserver-xorg will block any renamed package from being installed. They all provide xorg-renamed-package. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Status: Invalid ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Critical Assignee: Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst) Status: Fix Committed ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) => xorg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => ubuntu-12.04.2 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095686 Title: xorg needs to be updated to allow quantal xserver stack to be installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1095686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1093757] Re: Placing Windows in corners does not always work as expected
In addition, I'm inclined to say that the spacing between the terminal windows here is not a bug. Terminals set specific size hints so that they aren't resized to exactly fit their contents in character size. If the window can't be allocated to a position that exactly fits those size hints, then we resize it a little smaller. The only case where we don't do that is in the semi- maximize and maximize case, and that's fine. The maximization bug, however, is. ** Description changed: + Using the grid plugin to resize a window in the corner, and then + maximizing the window will result in the window being maximized in- + place, rather than covering the whole screen. + + ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: + If you use the shortcuts to place a window in the corners (for example the bottom left corner KP1) then some applications like Gnome Terminal get not resized correctly, which results in free spaces left to the workspace edges. (All settings for Gnome Terminal are default). This happens for Compiz 0.9.9 using Nvidia 313.x drivers. Most applications like Nautilus work perfect, though. But for all tested applications one bug is common: Part 2: If you place the window in any corner and then press KP5 the window does not get placed correctly (the application gets resized correctly but is placed somewhere in between the workspaces. This varies from position to position. It gets distributed to all workspaces symmetric.) ** Summary changed: - Placing Windows in corners does not always work as expected + Using grid-resize prevents windows from maximizing correctly -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093757 Title: Using grid-resize prevents windows from maximizing correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1093757/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 931967] Re: Corrupted graphics after the login until the unity launcher appears
OK. The problem with 12.10 was that the code responsible for drawing the background between logging in and the session starting (which was fixed in 12.04 previously in this bug) was accidentally dropped completely. That was my fault. :-/ I've got a new branch up, which should easily make it into 13.04. Once it does, I'll start an SRU for 12.10. Now, as for why 12.04 is regressing... I'm not sure. I can't reproduce myself and the code looks fine to me. There may be a further bug affecting 12.04 in small quantities or certain hardware configs (vs the 12.10 bug which affected everybody). In which case, it would also affect 12.10 in those same configs even after my fix. But that's less of a problem than fixing 12.10 for most people. ** Changed in: unity-greeter (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931967 Title: Corrupted graphics after the login until the unity launcher appears To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/931967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1095692] [NEW] Hide the 'back' button on the first page of oem-user-config
Public bug reported: On the first page of oem_user_config, where you select your Language, the "Back" button is present, although it is set to be insensitive (i.e. you can't really click on it and do anything since there is no previous screen to show). Technically, the button is supposed 'grayed out', but, I'm guessing that the gtk themeing in use makes the button appear to be more clickable than it really is. Since the bulk of our OEM projects utilize oem_user_config, it has been requested that we either: 1) Hide the "Back" button altogether on this screen 2) Gray out the "Back" button so that the user cannot click it (which it already is, but it doesn't appear obvious). This is mostly cosmetic, but, it can also help avoid potential confusion with users when they fire up their pre-loaded machines for the first time. I've found a way to hide the back button in oem_user_config on the first page as well as un-hide it on subsequent pages. I've also tested the proposed 'fix' and it doesn't appear so far to cause any regressions. I'd like to have this included in upstream as well as 12.10 and 12.04, with emphasis on 12.04 since our OEM projects are based on the LTS release. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095692 Title: Hide the 'back' button on the first page of oem-user-config To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1095692/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello Jean-Baptiste, or anyone else affected, Accepted nvidia-graphics-drivers-96 into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /nvidia-graphics-drivers-96/96.43.23-0ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Bug 656745] Re: notebook crashes on battery with particular wlan or other pcie devices enabled dell vostro 3700
I tested the latest mainline kernel and can confirm that, the bug still exists on the folloswing mainline kernel: Linux 3.8.0-999-generic #201212310405 I have used this kernel also after disabling proprietary Wireless lan driver. But that didn't help avoid the crash either. Nevertheless, I found a workaround for this issue: Setting the following boot option solves the crash problem: pcie_aspm=off The above boot option can be easily set by editing /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=off" And then running "update grub" command. I'd really love to help but the problem happened just once. I use this headset on a daily basis and the kernel panic only happened this one time. [Bug 1095686] Re: xorg needs to be updated to allow quantal xserver stack to be installed
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected, Accepted xorg into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/1:7.6+12ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Adding the jme kernel module to SUSPEND_MODULES fixes this bug on both ubuntu 12.04 LTS and 12.10 Solution: Create the file /etc/pm/config.d/modules with contents 'SUSPEND_MODULES="jme"' (The file is attached) Some ubuntu tech now has to implement a test if a JMC250 or JMC260 network card is on the system and add the jme module to the SUSPEND_MODULES list. [Bug 1095711] [NEW] unity dash and top bar shown while using compiz enhanced zoom desktop
Public bug reported: when i zoom-in using Compiz's Enhanced Zoom Desktop - i use it to navigate and manage the desktop while being zoomed-in. however, when using Unity (unlike Gnome-Classic) - the dash icons and top bar aren't hidden (again, unlike gnome classic). beyond the fact it's an aesthetically annoying issue - it's also a bug - due to the fact i can't click the indicator applications nor the global menu. Compiz within Unity should behave like it does in Gnome Classic - blend in when i zoom in so i can click in any place around the desktop. cheers.
