[Bug 1131919] Re: Changing gtk-key-theme-name to Emacs has no effect
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. [Bug 1069877] Re: Nautilus crash when unmounting SMB share
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1114370] Re: [gm45] Hard hang when plugging, unplugging, or turning off LG 55LE5400 TV
ppa:mainline is not strictly a repo, but an archive of daily snapshots of the upstream kernel. They don't want to make it a repo to avoid the kernel and inadvertent breakage. Hmm, seems it is out of date. You can just clone the upstream kernel, pull in drm-intel-next and build that using your ubuntu config, all it takes is a little bit of time. Answer to questions: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, no specific steps or actions from my side at all. 2. the behavior you expected, and I am expecting not to crash. 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). crash every time after login to OS instance. [Bug 1119842] Re: [ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G75VX] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
@gabriel-thornblad, It is not clear (for me at least) where the wl module is actually loaded when you try to suspend. From the dmesg (in WifiSyslog.txt) it seems that the wl module fails to load: Feb 7 11:15:36 amaranth kernel: [3.380643] wl driver 6.20.155.1 (r326264) failed with code 11 Feb 7 11:15:36 amaranth kernel: [3.380652] [ cut here ] Feb 7 11:15:36 amaranth kernel: [3.380653] Kernel BUG at a0d36b8c [verbose debug info unavailable] Feb 7 11:15:36 amaranth kernel: [3.380655] invalid opcode: [#1] SMP Feb 7 11:15:36 amaranth kernel: [3.380672] Modules linked in: wl(POF+) coretemp ... Unfortunately I only have kernel 3.5 (bcmwl works fine there -- BCM4313). My suspicion is that the problem is with the interface between wl.ko and cfg80211.ko (I've seen somewhere a patch for wl to use WEXT instead of cfg8011 for kernel 3.8, but I always thought WEXT is deprecated). Sorry I can't be more precise. One of these days I want to install kernel 3.8, but having BCM4313 (wlan) and AR8161 (ethernet), both requiring non-standard modules makes me think very carefully before touching the kernel :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1119842 Title: [ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. [Bug 1079440]
(In reply to comment #25) I couldn't find a commit with the number Chris gave. But I loaded up the 3.8.0-997_3.8.0-997.201302180432 kernel from drm-intel-next. However, despite the fact that it seems to have built and installed okay, it dies with an almost-all-black screen a few seconds after it starts initializing the ramfs. I repeated it all and got the same results. Both downloads of the parts gave the same md5sums as follows: That's a complete different problem. And a critical one to boot. Normally if it breaks that early it is because the initramfs is broken and needs to be rebuilt. Try passing nomodeset to your kernel as it boots and see if that makes diagnosing the problem easier. Besides the date on kernel is earlier than the patch I referenced to fix the original issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079440 Title: i945: Random complete freeze using dual monitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1079440/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1092928] Re: asus ul30a resume broken very badly
Dear Christopher, The mainline kernels I initially installed continued to show this error, but the kernel I currently have installed, 3.8.0-030800rc6-generic #201301312135 SMP seems to generally not have this issue anymore. So I guess for now we can consider it fixed upstream, although I wish I knew what had happened with it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1092928 Title: asus ul30a resume broken very badly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1092928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1132531] Re: Use an arrow to show the date is too large to fit the column, instead of ###
Would need to be fixed upstream, bug track added. [Bug 1132736] [NEW] Xorg fail to start after installing the hardware enablement stack on precise due to missing symlink
Public bug reported: After installing the hardware enablement stack on precise by running: sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal xserver-xorg-lts-quantal Xorg fail to start. There is no error message or anything, just a black screen. [Bug 1101187] Re: in case ow two networks on the same bridge nova overwrites dnsmasq config
I modified update_dhcp funciton in nova/network/linux_net.py , so it would be something like : def update_dhcp(context, dev, network_ref): (Re)starts a dnsmasq server for a given network. If a dnsmasq instance is already running then send a HUP signal causing it to reload, otherwise spawn a new instance. network = network-%s % str(network_ref['id']) conffile = _dhcp_file(network, 'conf') So it can bring up a dnsmasq instance for each network, hoever, it doesn't work either, maybe cause it had listen on the same bridge of two dnsmasq. [Bug 1072206] Re: [nvidia] Window content is black
Whatever the precise effect, this is a reproducible (just open enough windows - often as few as 5 in a high resolution setting) and disasterous (it prevents any reasonable use of the OS). It appears to have been an on-off problem with Compiz with nvidia for years and years. This needs a high priority fix to make compiz usable on the large number of nvidia card based systems. I also note, in case it is a help, that once the memory limit has been bumped into (i.e. enough windows opened), then not only do windows black out but at every new open window the whole sceen flashes off very briefly. This only happens when the memory limit is reached. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072206 Title: [nvidia] Window content is black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1072206/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1123588] Re: wrong usage of the `malloc' function attribute
A common convention in Upstart+NIH is for functions to accept a parent pointer as in the following example: Foo *make_foo (const void *parent) __attribute__ ((malloc)); Foo * make_foo (const void *parent) { Foo *foo = nih_new (parent, Foo); /* ... */ return foo; } But, if I'm understanding this correctly (?), using the malloc attribute here is also invalid iff parent != NULL since nih_new() ultimately saves the value of foo to the parents context before returning the address of foo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1123588 Title: wrong usage of the `malloc' function attribute To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc/+bug/1123588/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1132776] [NEW] Please update freecad package to latest upstream release (0.13, already packaged in Debian experimental)
Public bug reported: Please update freecad package to latest upstream release (0.13) - this version is already packaged in Debian experimental, but it fails to build on amd64 architecture :( There are lots of improvements in 0.13 release, see http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/free-cad/index.php?title=Release_notes_013 I'm pasting here descriptions of most important improvements: General * Color preferences: Getting bored of the good old grey-shapes-on-black-lines FreeCAD default aspect? It is now changeable in the user preferences (Display - Color), together with several other default colors. * Alignment: two shapes can be aligned to each other with up to three points with this tool available in the Edit menu. Drawing module * Clip feature: A new Drawing Clip object allows to place views of objects inside clipped rectangles on Drawing pages. * Editable titleblocks: When designing Drawing templates, it is now possible to mark texts as editable. Those texts become then directly editable in FreeCAD. * Annotation feature: A new Drawing Annotation object, a simple feature to quickly place text blocks on a Drawing page. * Orthographic Views: A new Drawing Orthographic Views tool facilitate creation of multiple views all aligned to each other, according to first-angle or third-angle projection. * Browser preview: Since all SVG capabilities are not always supported by the internal Qt SVG viewer, this button allows you to check how a page looks like in the webkit browser, which fully supports the SVG format. This is provisory, until we definitely switch our SVG viewer to webkit... * DXF export: you can now export a view of a page directly to a DXF file. * Some bug fixes now allow printing of pages to scale. Sketcher module * Point Creation Points can now be added and used as a feature within a sketch * Sketch Origin User can now use the sketch's origin to define geometry as well as the sketch axes. * Tangency and perpendicularity constraints for arcs and circles. * Constraints with respect to external (projected) geometry. * Improved counting of the sketch degrees of freedom. * Symmetry constraint with respect to a symmetry point (midpoint constraint). * Improved Datum Label and Constraint Visuals: *o Each constraint label (including arrows) will correctly scale to the size of the scene automatically to the 3D viewport o Datum label text for Distance, Distance X, Distance Y and Radius can be freely positioned now with greater control. o Small improvements to overlapping constraint icons and fix freezes. o Datum Label text will reverse when the view is orientated from the opposite side. * Fully constrained Sketches are now highlighted: The sketch color turns from white to green to indicate it is fully constrained. These default colors can be customized. * Rubber band selection: Geometry (Points, Lines and Curves) may be selected by dragging on the background to create a rectangular selection. * Extended functionality of the polyline tool: using the m key one can switch between arc and line mode and among free, tangent and perpendicular transitions from the previous segment. * Map sketch to face is a new tool to map (or remap) an existing sketch to the selected face on a solid. This allows the use of this sketch for features such as Pad and Pocket. * Small Improvements: o When constructing geometry, tool tip with related information is shown next to cursor. o Sketch view which sets the 3D view perpendicular to the sketch plane has now an icon in the Sketcher toolbar. Draft module * Taskmode: The Taskview mode of the Draft module is now default. Fear not, if you liked the toolbar, it is still available in the Draft preferences settings. * DXF importer: The DXF importer now supports points (translate to Draft Point) and leaders (translate to Draft Wire * Brand-new snapping system: The snapping system of the Draft module has been rewritten almost from scratch. It is now much easier to extend and use in other scripts and modules, has now new visuals with snap cursor icons, and a toolbar that allows to switch on/off individual snap locations or the whole snapping system. * Better constraining: When entering 3D points, besides the existing Shift-constraining, you can now constrain the movement in X, Y or Z direction by pressing the X, Y or Z keys. Pressing them again switches constraining off. * Draft - Sketch conversion: The Draft workbench now features a new Draft2Sketch conversion tool, that converts selected Draft objects (or any flat shape) to Sketches, and vice-versa. * Clone tool: Make copies of selected objects with this handy tool.
