[Bug 1294279] Re: [webapp-container] Facebook app appears to open links in a new tab, rather than external browser window or popup windows

2014-04-24 Thread David Barth
I verified the bug fix again by navigating to my facebook wall and
opening links to articles or sites that were obviously not Facebook
content. The container did open the links with the default browser, as
intended.

I will keep the verification-needed tag for now, to let testers outside
of our development group verify this fix.

[Bug 1311178] Re: log in interface does not display correctly

2014-04-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

** Description changed:

I chaneged my system from 13.10 to 14.04 by clean install. I got
kerneloops on 14.04 beta 2 so I went back to 13.10.

To try to new kernel on 14.04 I installed it yesterday. After the clean
install and run updates my first task was to modify the grub and fstab.
I'm using for it the gksu gedit command. Now I got error message and
  gedit not opened. For example:

  barricade@Barricade:~$ gksu gedit /etc/fstab

(gksu:4983): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to error
parsing markup: Error on line 1 char 86: Element 'b' was closed, but the
  currently open element is 'big'

  ** (gksu:4983): CRITICAL **: fcntl error

** (gksu:4983): WARNING **: Lock taken by pid: -1. Exiting.

We talked about it on hungarian ubuntu forum and got same message from
gksu other user too. I tryed to purge and reinstall the gksu but it not
solved the problem. The sudo nano /etc/fstab and sudo gedit /etc/fstab
  commands working well.

I tryed reinstall all system but the gksu problem is occured again.

[Bug 401674] Re: Firefox running and not responding

2014-04-24 Thread Franck Arnaud
In my case firefox when firefox is stuck with no visible window but a
zombie process (as happens every so often for unknown reasons) I also
get this message.

Via xlsclient I do find a firefox 10x10 pixels unmapped window that is
not visible anywhere (the Unity dock doesn't find it either). The output
of xwininfo is attached.

The user interaction design is very poor: in this case the dialog should
either:

(a) offer a "kill and retry" button
(b) detect the hung firefox and do a kill and retry silently, counting the
retries to avoid an endless retry loop, and only when that procedure has failed
show the dialog

there is in this case no reason to force the user to "restart the
system" to emulate the mediocrity of the Windows user experience.

@attente Had already reverted the packages. Re-installed and the crash
still occurs. I'm using exactly the same versions.

I tested in a guest account and it works, so it must be because of
plugins?

[Bug 1312171] [NEW] Installation of phpldapadmin fails due to missing conf.d folder

2014-04-24 Thread brejoc
Public bug reported:

Just wanted to install phpldapadmin on Ubuntu 14.04, but the
installation fails during the execution of the post install script. I've
noticed that the script tries to create a symlink in
/etc/apache2/conf.d. But in trusty config handling seems to have
changed. Now it seems like configs should be stored in conf-available
and symlinked in conf-enabled.

A shell output (sorry, it's German) can be found here:

Hi Raymond
I install the the alsa-tools-gui and using the advanced override flag I
have seen that the Headphone jack was present on the panel but it was
not inserted. So using override I mark it as not inserted and the audio
works, but if I restart I have to repeat the operation.

[Bug 1310167] Re: Twin head displays not retaining settings across reboot.

2014-04-24 Thread Hil
Turns out it is when I run the Gnome 3 interface vs Unity. Unity works
fine. But if I go to G3 it keeps moving my smaller screen up when I
want it down.

To configure the screens I go to Systems Settings -> Displays. Then
drag the screen to where I want it. Hit Apply and Keep this
configuration.

[Bug 1311737] Re: Shotwell crashes on launch

2014-04-24 Thread chrisedona...@gmail.com
I'm sorry, I've been using Ubuntu for many years now, but I'm still very
much a novice who's good at research and copy-paste. I'm not sure how to
run shotwell from the command line, except to simply launch it. If you
give me more specific instructions, I can run them and get back to you.
I looked at gdb and should be able to run that. Do I start gdb first and
then try to run shotwell? How does that work? Sorry...

[Bug 1061069]

2014-04-24 Thread Jsmeix-x
Regarding banners and test page:

CUPS banners and the CUPS test page are no longer supported since CUPS
>= 1.6.

The banners and the test page from cups-filters must be used instead.

The CUPS banner files in /usr/share/cups/banners/ and the CUPS testpage
/usr/share/cups/data/testprint (which is also a CUPS banner file type)
are basically useless since CUPS >= 1.6 because there is no longer
a filter that can convert the CUPS banner files, see
http://www.cups.org str.php?L4120

Therefore those files will be no longer be provided in the cups RPM.

Since CUPS >= 1.6 only the banner files and testpage in the
cups-filters package work via the cups-filters PDF workflow
and the cups-filters package also provides the matching
bannertopdf filter.

@Sergio
I actually was able to reproduce this even with Ubuntu Precise 64 bit. Please
do report this to bugs.kde.org: I currently don't have much time to debug this,
while Hugo (another upstream developer) might be able look into this.
When reporting, please be sure to include terminal output of scilab when it
crashes.

[Bug 1311172] Re: Chromium appears to stay on top of other applications even when it is not

2014-04-24 Thread Aren Cambre
I saw http://askubuntu.com/questions/453475/chromium-display-is-
remanent-since-14-04-upgrade-with-gpu-acceleration-enabled and noticed
how he got better results when using the --disable-gpu option. Indeed,
that appears to make Chromium not stay on top.

I've attached console errors and warnings I get with and without that
switch enabled. You'll see a ton of errors and warnings in the one
without --disable-gpu.

In case it matters, I am running Ubuntu as a VirtualBox guest under
Windows 8.1 x64. I'm on VirtualBox 4.3.10 and am using the current Guest
Additions.

[Bug 1310489] Re: xorg.conf overwritten by booting system

2014-04-24 Thread Uwe Cappeller
Changing the gpu-manager to let the xorg.conf unchanged caused a freeze
of the system.

I tried the new beta driver from amd catalyst 14.4 (Beta) from the AMD
site where explicitly my two cards are listed and it works perfectly.

Both cards HD8650G (1Gb) and the internal HD8670M are working now and
the xorg.conf will not be overwritten by booting any longer.

It seems that Ubuntu 14.04 64bit is not compatible with the amd-
catalyst-13.12-linux-x86.x86_64 .

I am currently using amd-driver-installer-14.10-x86.x86_64 which is a
beta release and latest rc.

[Bug 1310552] Re: could not extract the package.xml file from "/build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/packagename.tgz"

2014-04-24 Thread kolAflash
Related:
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=67075
http://askubuntu.com/questions/451953/php-pear-is-not-working-after-upgrading-to-ubuntu-14-04

This doesn't helps (actually the mentioned patch seems to be already applied to
the Ubuntu files):
http://cweiske.de/tagebuch/pear-php-5.5.htm

This workaround seems to work for me (still playing around with it). It
probably also works for "pear install".

# First run pear to download the packages. It will probably put the packages
into
# /build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/
# but it can't install them.
$ pear upgrade

# Un-Gzip the downloaded packages.
$ gunzip /build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/*.tar

# Now pear should be able to work with the pure tar-files.
$ pear upgrade /build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/*.tar

So by this workaround I guess, the bug's reason is something about the gzip
compression.

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2014-04-24 Thread Brian Candler
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but the command syntax to
the "drbdsetup" command has changed totally between drbd8-utils 8.3 and
8.4

e.g. if you are using drbd-utils 8.3 then the command is
drbdsetup /dev/drbd0 show

if you are using drbd-utils 8.4 then the command is
drbdsetup show /dev/drbd0

Therefore if you upgrade your kernel to the raring enablement one, your
pacemaker (etc) scripts will break too.

[Bug 1250439] Re: suricata complains about NFQUEUE in newer kernels

2014-04-24 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
Fix seems ok since this type of detection is being used on similar
projects.

1) Proposed patch for Debian sid:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=725301

2) Proposed patch merge for Ubuntu development on:

https://code.launchpad.net/~inaddy/ubuntu/trusty/suricata/lp-1250439/+merge/216963

3) Created one diff for precise, with a minor correction on default init
configuration file (reference.config).
* fix-precise-suricata_1.1.1-1.diff

4) Created one diff for saucy equal to upstream patch proposal.
* fix-saucy-suricata_1.4.3-1.diff

5) Created one diff for trusty equal to upstream patch proposal.
* fix-trusty-suricata_1.4.7-1

Packages have been tested and daemon can init out-of-the-box on all versions.
(remembering to set RUN=yes on /etc/default/suricata)

Attaching diffs on next comments...

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1292306 ***

Just to confirm -- in split mode, the session should look at whether it
is the active session or not to suspend apps. And in current unity8,
it's just the non-blocking swaps that prevent the greeter from coming in
on power off.

[Bug 1293789] Re: package nvidia-331 renames xorg.conf on non-Optimus systems

2014-04-24 Thread anj
I'll post another gpu-manager.log if it happens again, but so far
everything's been fine -- as of some time today. Some people on the
Kubuntu 14.04 pre-release testing forum were having the same problem,
but that forum's locked now that 14.04 is out so I can't tell if
anything changed for them.

[Bug 1301015] Re: Networking does not restart

2014-04-24 Thread SeanBoran
Er, I've been just bitten by this "feature" too.

Having the habit of using /etc/init.d/* (since it works on many
different platforms and my fingers learned it many years ago) I presumed
that would at some stage be replaced by the "service" command - but not
that networking would be started in some different way.

So I would also agree with comment #2 :-)

[Bug 1241632] Re: LDAP support auth not working

2014-04-24 Thread Karsten Richter
Fix for Trusty (following dgkim's solution):

1. download
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/ejabberd/2.1.11-1ubuntu2/+files/ejabberd_2.1.11-1ubuntu2.tar.gz
2. apply flatforms patch on src/eldap.erl
3. Compile the ASN.1 dependency: erlc -bber ELDAPv3.asn
4. Compile eldap.erl: erlc -DSSL40 -I ../ -pz ../ eldap.erl
5. replace eldap.beam in /usr/lib/ejabberd/ebin/

NOTE: also for saucy I'm quite sure it is eldap.erl and not eldapd.erl
(typo in dgkims solution).

LDAP auth works again like a charm after that patch (ejabberd 2.1.11 on
trusty AMD64)

[Bug 1312188] [NEW] gnome-control-center > Details > Overview display 13.10 logo on 14.04 distro

2014-04-24 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Public bug reported:

On ubuntu-gnome 14.04 (updated from 13.10) when accessing :
gnome-control-center > Details > Overview

The ubuntu logo is labeled with "ubuntu 13.10" text.

When I access :
$ eog /usr/share/unity-control-center/ui/UbuntuLogo.png
I see the "ubuntu 14.04 LTS" text

When I access :
$ eog /usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/UbuntuLogo.png
I see the "ubuntu 13.10" text

Does I've do something wrong or it's juste a miss from packager ?

[Bug 1312168] Re: cannot upgrade to 14.04

2014-04-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1279762 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1279762

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon to
be available or uninstall the package and then upgrade.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Yes, it is because of libwxgtk3.0.

If the official version remains problematic, use this ppa:
