[Bug 1306769] Re: pinlock snap decision potentially allows malicious app to gain access to user PIN and Passcode
I am going to mark this as incomplete. Antii says Currently the pinlock dialog is implemented as snapdecision and thus any application that is allowed to use the notifications can potentially trick the user to provide his PIN code or Passcode to the application by invoking the pinlock dialog. However, AppArmor policy explicitly disables the snapdecisions interface and there is no code or described methodology describing the problem so I can't determine if this is mere concern that there might be a problem or that there is an actual problem. ** Changed in: unity-notifications Status: Triaged = Incomplete ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306769 Title: pinlock snap decision potentially allows malicious app to gain access to user PIN and Passcode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-notifications/+bug/1306769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1369604] [NEW] Display not updated when shift-selecting with autorepeat
Public bug reported: When using shift selection mode (i.e. shift-select-mode set to 't'), if I hold down shift and an arrow key to select a long range (in any direction), the display only updates to show the selection for the first keypress, and after that does not update to reflect the selection until the arrow key is released. [Bug 1369457] Re: Can re-order and un-pin launcher items and launch apps while phone is locked
Ah thanks - didn't know about those options! Disabled both now :-) The use case for launching apps from the lockscreen is that as a user, you think oh I want to go to facebook, click facebook, we start the app in the background so that once you enter your passcode, it's sitting there ready. Again, Design and Security have already talked about this feature and were planning to leave it as is. Please let's not have a title-editing fight over this. The fact that I raised this bug demonstrates that I was not aware of these discussions. Personally, I cannot see a huge benefit in allowing this behaviour. Maybe if a particular app is very slow to start and/or if a user has a particularly long pass-phrase this could be marginally useful? But to counter that, what if you have an app that sucks down huge amounts of data on startup and a nefarious user starts the app without your knowledge when you happen to put your phone down for a minute? That would be more than a little annoying if 3G charges applied. It could be argued that the risk of that scenario playing out is small, but nevertheless the potential is there. The use case for re-ordering apps is *likely to be* (Design hasn't actually chimed in) that the person doing the re-ordering is overwhelmingly likely to be the owner, rather than some malicious attacker that just loves to re-order your icons. Again, I personally don't see that feature as particularly compelling, hence I've turned it off :) If these features are perceived as generally useful are we planning on introducing them to desktop Ubuntu? Regardless of whether we decide to leave these features as enabled or not, maybe we should ensure they form part of the initial setup wizard? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1369457 Title: Can re-order and un-pin launcher items and launch apps while phone is locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1369457/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1369615] [NEW] FFe - Update python-geoip to 1.3.2, Add python3 support
Public bug reported: state the reason why you feel it is necessary The current package is 5 years out of date and has neither support for IPv6 nor bindings for python3. I've just uploaded the current version to Debian (due to the addition of python3-geoip, it will hit New there). This is a low risk update as the changes to existing code are almost entirely either white space or addition of if/defs for python3 support. There is little chance of regression. It would be really nice to get this into Utopic (and I want to backport to Trusty ASAP for a project I'm working on). The update also switches from CDBS to dh, so progress on that front too. I did drop the -dbg package as it's not in Debian and it seems redundant since we have the -dbgsym packages in Ubuntu. There is no upstream changelog. Package builds, installs, and works (I experimented with the subset of tests for which we have data and they pass). If this gets approved before the update makes it out of Debian New, I'll do a direct upload. ** Affects: python-geoip (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Changed in: python-geoip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1369615 Title: FFe - Update python-geoip to 1.3.2, Add python3 support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-geoip/+bug/1369615/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1369633] [NEW] 4k laptop eDP display not working on a dell precision m3800
Public bug reported: Impact: Some new laptops with 4k screens are starting to use dp 1.2 only feature of supporting 5.4ghz link rates over displayport which was not turned on until 3.15 even though the plumbing for it was (mostly) there. This should only make more devices work since it has to advertise support for the feature in the dpcd. previously dp 1.2 screens which needed 5.4ghz link rates were forced to use 2.7ghz instead, which would not provide enough bandwidth for some high resolution/high bandwidth screens. It only affects haswell for trusty, broadwell is handled through i915_bdw module which already as this fix and the fix was upstream in 3.15-rc1 so utopic is unaffected. Fix: Allow the 5.4ghz link rate over displayport. This has been tested on an affected OEM laptop with a 4K display that requires 5.4ghz link rate to light up (without it the display never turns on) as well as 2 other haswell machines to be sure it doesn't regress. [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update
Yes, I have version 4. Is it possible that when I installed version 6 it created that file and that it's still there? I'm using versions 4 and 5 on this partition since the week in which I reported this bug. When I sent the log I was with version 4 (and still I am). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365695 Title: No longer able to use GUI after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates/+bug/1365695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1369644] [NEW] Should be possible to take a screen shot on the phone from the phone itself
Public bug reported: Currently, the only way to take a screenshot is to attach the phone to a computer via USB and use phablet-screenshot. There should be a way to take a screenshot from the phone.
