[Bug 884856] Re: gnome-keyring integration breaks some GPG functions

2014-11-19 Thread Andre Heinecke
This also breaks GPA (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gpa/+bug/1381926 ) and S/MIME
support in Kontact.

It has required that there is a section about this in the GnuPG Wiki (
http://wiki.gnupg.org/PlatformNotes ). And related problems are
regularly raised on the gnupg-users mailing list.

There was a thread on the gnupg-devel mailing list involving the gnome-
keyring maintainer that shows some standpoints of this problem:

http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-devel/2014-August/028690.html

Imho it is an Ubuntu problem and not an Upstream problem. Ubuntu decides
to create: /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-gpg.desktop

And thus deliberately breaks gnupg2 by default.

[Bug 1393767] Re: [trusty] light-locker-settings may prevent xfpm to apply power source dependent monitor power management

2014-11-19 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
As I already said, backporting those features is not really an option,
even though trusty will be around for quite a bit (simply because our
workforce is too limited for that – feel free to help out and propose
patches).

The main problem the dependency chain (xfce4-power-manager 1.4 needs a
newer version of light-locker-settings etc.), so bottom line: from my
pov we'll have to live with what we got as Trusty is in bugfix mode,
that's how I understand Ubuntu's release model.

[Bug 1390919] Re: Scope template cannot be running for devel emulator

Thanks for your bugreport.

I just created a click chroot with "sudo click chroot -a i386 -f ubuntu-
sdk-15.04-dev1" and checked what is installed there. Both libnet-cpp-dev
and libprocess-cpp-dev are installed. Same for -f ubuntu-sdk-14.10. Is
the SDK creating the chroot in a different way?

[Bug 1392615] Re: OA sign-in should not block

2014-11-19 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
I've been playing around with the phone, trying to reproduce this issue
using multiple configurations:

* Youtube scope signed in.
* Youtube scope not signed in.
* YouTube favourited.
* YouTube not favourited.
* YouTube and Videos scopes at different positions in the favourited scopes.
* Even Online Accounts completely removed from the Youtube scope code.

Granted, the Youtube scope (either loaded directly or indirectly via
Videos) seems to lag more when started than other scopes. However,
regardless of the configuration, I always seem to get the same amount of
lag when scrolling.

I then noticed that the Vimeo scope seemed to also produce a
considerable lag (I'm talking 500ms up to 1.5s). So I tried the above
configurations with the Vimeo scope this time (yes, even removing OA
completely from the scope), but I still could not see any noticeable
change in lag between each configurations.

I'm marking this bug as invalid as I can't see (from my tests, and my
colleges trying this too) that OA sign-in is the reason behind the
lagging issue.

Please take a look at the attachment for how the "service" facility in Linux
correctly handles a service.
If a system utility can NOT do the normal system-wide management, what value
does it really have? I personally think "upstart" in Ubuntu has miles to go
from the average expectation.

I am not a developer so I have not figured out a workaround for this
problem. I have tried updates through the terminal and get errors there
as well. I will probably be doing a rollback to a stable release

this on to the developer community might help this new version become

>From the QtC we create click chroot with this command:

It is imortant to note that there is no reliable update mechanism for

I would suggest to destroy recreate the click chroot.

[Bug 1394249] [NEW] lxc package dependencies over-constrained

2014-11-19 Thread Jens Elkner
Public bug reported:

Obviously lxc does NOT depend on dnsmasq-base and thus this dependency
should be lowered to "optional" or "recommended".

Today entities using containers already have proper DNS as well as DHCP
servers and thus do not need at all another point of failure/possible
weak software/redundant aka non-green services like the dnsmasq stuff.

[Bug 1394251] [NEW] package steam 1:1.0.0.48-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2014-11-19 Thread Alex B.
Public bug reported:

The game crashed while I was playing Team Fortress 2, koth_viaduct_event
(Eyeaduct). I also noticed on the character configuration screen there
was the sound of static, it would go away when I closed that menu and
come back when I would open it again.

The actual package for Steam failed to install in the Ubuntu Store app
and I believe it has something to do with the extra add-on for the
fonts, which is set to be automatically downloaded and install with
Steam from Valve.

I was however able to download Steam and the addition font library
without incident from the terminal with the following command.

sudo apt-get install steam

The Steam launcher installed all the prerequisite files and downloaded
and installed the run-time files with no trouble at all.

[Bug 1301083] Re: Drag and Drop File Auto Opens Folders

This bug is infuriating. It makes Nautilus unusable for any task
involving organizing files / folders. Time is wasted backing out of
folders every time you drag and drop a file. It is even worse if you
accidentally hover over the wrong folder.

[Bug 1394253] [NEW] Bluetooth discoverability confusing

2014-11-19 Thread Michał Sawicz
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. go to Bluetooth in Settings
2. go out of the Bluetooth pane

When going in, the page says "Discoverable" and lists the name. When you
go out... is it still discoverable? Was it already discoverable before?

The indicator icon (or menu) doesn't change, either, so there's
basically no way to know if you're discoverable when outside of the
settings page.

[Bug 1394256] [NEW] click user hooks are not run when "click install --all-users" is used

2014-11-19 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

When click is used to install with the --all-users option the click user
hooks are not run for the user until he/she logs in the next time. This
can be confusing for users, especially since the behavior of systemd for
user services is that they are not run per session (login) but only a
per-user, i.e. only run once for multiple logins.

Colin suggested to use either SUDO_USER/PKEXEC_UID or logind to register
for all logged in users.

per-user, i.e. only run once for multiple logins.
+
+ Colin suggested to use either SUDO_USER/PKEXEC_UID or logind to register
+ for all logged in users.

[Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not

2014-11-19 Thread bjv
I appear to be having the same issue as SergeiS & tonysonney under 14.04,
file system permissions are correct and cp works fine from the command line for
one of my USB hard drives, but drive consistently shows as 'Owner: root' in
Nautilus - even though mount options are identical to an automounted SATA drive
that shows as 'Owner: me'

Other USB devices, (flash drive, HD from a different manufacturer) mount
with correct Ownership in nautilus.. (also, i noticed everything that
mounts correctly has a little icon in the media folder - a thumb-drive,
internal disk icon, etc. while the badly behaving "root" media device
does not have a little icon on the folder)

Ubuntu automount point permissions:
bjv@saucy10:/media/bjv$ ls -lt /media/bjv

drwx-- 1 bjv bjv 4096 Nov 19 06:05 WD My Passport Ultra
drwx-- 1 bjv bjv 8192 Nov 18 07:56 WD Caviar Black

Ubuntu automount options:

(rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096)

[Bug 655619] Re: Hinting: tilde/macron confusion at small sizes (ãñõÕ)

2014-11-19 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
This is a problem with the auto-hinter, not with the font. With the
font's manual hinting, macrons and tildes are distinguishable at all
sizes down to 9px and possibly smaller. With the auto-hinter, Ā and Ã
are distinguishable from 12px upwards, but most of the others aren't
distinguishable until 19px upwards.

** Attachment added: "screenshot of the problem characters from 7px to 19px"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bug/655619/+attachment/4263843/+files/Tildes%20vs%20macrons.png

** Project changed: ubuntu-font-family => freetype (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: freetype (Ubuntu)
Milestone: 1.00 => None

** Summary changed:

- Hinting: tilde/macron confusion at small sizes (ãñõÕ)
+ Auto-hinter muddles tildes/macrons in Ubuntu font <19px (ñĀÃāãŌÕōõ)

[Bug 1393767] Re: [trusty] light-locker-settings may prevent xfpm to apply power source dependent monitor power management

2014-11-19 Thread b3nmore
Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding, I was talking about light-
locker-settings 1.2.1 and xfpm 1.2.0 (both from trusty). The patch is
for those versions. If you decide to apply it, we will loose a gui to
set screen blanking (it will be turned off), but we will gain better
consistency with xfpm and eliminate some confusing configuration
results.

Note that issues are tracked on github now. All Launchpad issues were

github, though. :(

pyOpenSSL code is also now on github. You can find branches and pull
requests there (and presumably perusing them will answer your question
about whether anyone is working on this issue).

[Bug 1393767] Re: [trusty] light-locker-settings may prevent xfpm to apply power source dependent monitor power management

2014-11-19 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
Yeah, I know. Losing control over blanking isn't really an option, as it
defines the timeout for light-locker's timed-locking feature.

[Bug 1394281] [NEW] Thunderbird forget Trash Folder Settings

2014-11-19 Thread Xwarman
Public bug reported:

I recognized that Thunderbird does not seem to have Trash Folder for my
freemail Account anymore. Instead mails get lost. I tryed to create
another folder and define as trash folder. After clicking ok nothing
seems to happen. If I open settings again trash folder shows again the
option to choose a folder and my old entery seems forgotten.

Here other Bugtracking Information if needed:

[Bug 877765] Re: [Latitude E6510] X crashes when lid is closed

2014-11-19 Thread Daniel Manrique
Actually: since the problem was reported on Oneiric, which is EOL, and
the apport information is from trusty (for which this report is NOT
confirmed), I'll set to Invalid (as we never saw a report for any
subsequent Ubuntu release, 12.04, 12.10, 13.04, 13.10, 14.04 and 14.10
have been released in the meanwhile, so I presume this was fixed at some
point).

[Bug 1388530] Re: 14.10 freezes during shutdown on MSI GE60 with Nvidia Geforce GTX 765M

2014-11-19 Thread jean-christophe manciot
Hey,

I have just found a workaround by chance: purging xserver-xorg-video-
nouveau (without replacing it by a Nvidia driver) from the system
removes the freezing issue during shutdown!

That's very strange because the driver is loaded with initrd during the
boot, meaning rebooting after the removal does not prevent X Server from
using the nouveau driver... without the shutdown issue that was directly
caused by the same driver.

Maybe someone can shed light on this mystery.

Yeah, it does look like there's a split-second timeout (it actually
looks like a deferred initialization of the view, especially as the
checkbox above slides at the same time)

That still doesn't help with what happens when I close that page.

[Bug 1325899] Re: evince is excruciatingly slow on some documents

2014-11-19 Thread madbiologist
Sorry for taking so long to get back to this bug. Thanks for setting
the status to "Confirmed" in my absence. The PDF file attached to
comment #2 renders slowly when flipping rapidly between pages on my
newish system (a different system to the one I mentioned in comment #1).
This is on Trusty 14.04 with the update to libpoppler44
0.24.5-2ubuntu4.1.

I have changed the package to poppler. Does this still occur on Ubuntu
14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" which contains poppler 0.26.5-0ubuntu1?

** Package changed: evince (Ubuntu) => poppler (Ubuntu)

2014-11-19 Thread Gabriele Volpi
apport information

** Description changed:

The touchpad functions properly on my F552L laptop under Windows 8 64bit. It
doesn't work properly with Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. The cursor doesn't move at all
or just barely from time to time. Right or left-click doesn't work. The
touchpad is not properly recognized by the OS. BIOS is updated. Mouse work, but
sometimes it work bad (click no effect). For example now click not work and I
use tab.
