2015-02-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
the application being used for the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1271975] Re: Compiz related non-specific (Compiz application closed unexpectedly due to error)

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
honeybuntu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have
apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the
automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade &&
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a
new report, you would be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1420158] Re: [vivid] apport-bug crashes under KDE

2015-02-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1420158/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1300211] Re: Can't install both gcc-multilib and gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf

2015-02-10 Thread Tzafrir
A workaround for me was to create the symbolic link from
/usr/local/include/asm to /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm
instead of (as supplied by gcc-multilib
/usr/include/asm to /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm

If this will be the default the packages won't conflict as arm-gcc does
not look in /usr/local/include

[Bug 1417010] Re: Reloading services can result in a deadlock under systemd

2015-02-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 218-8ubuntu2

---
systemd (218-8ubuntu2) vivid; urgency=medium

  * debian/tests/logind: With dropped systemd-logind-launch we don't have a
visible /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd/ any more under cgmanager. So adjust the
test to check /proc/self/cgroup instead.

[Bug 1308105]

2015-02-10 Thread Steve Dodier-Lazaro
Raj,

Thanks for clarifying. There might have been several sources of crashes
in the same report.

Could the people who commented on this report test whether
Xfce4-Settings git (hence with Olivier's recent fix) + Alexander's patch
work well for them?

Olivier, André: would you like to take ownership of this bug and push
whichever additional patch is required?

[Bug 997978] Re: KVM images lose connectivity with bridged network

2015-02-10 Thread Ramiro Varandas Jr
- Updating -

The problem came back today - the VM was running OK for more than 72
hours - and then the connectivity with the gateway was lost again.

Looking Martin's post #132, I was seeing some packets being dropped by
being incorrect. Applied the ethtool fix and also changed the driver to
e1000 and going to monitor it.

After applying the ethtool patch, I got no more dropped packets with
incorrect checksum.

The same is true for a couple of other packages.
(It least initially, after the first upgrade they are "fixed".)

The reason is that dh-make-perl was a bit over-enthusiatic in
massaging upstream versions; this behaviour was changed in commit
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-perl/packages/dh-make-perl.git/commit/?id=f21a54b8a64578817d5e2036eef2ae4518361575
which was first released in 0.77-1.

>From a practical point of view, I'm not aware of any problem this
version mangling causes. dpkg doesn't care:

% dpkg --compare-versions 0.04 eq 0.4 && echo equal
equal

and we also never found other issues. So while this is unnecessary
and aesthetically inconvenient I don't consider this an actual bug.

Cheers,
gregor

2015-02-10 Thread Sander Jonkers
Public bug reported:

Running Vivid with kernel 3.19 (debs from http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.19-vivid/), I get the warning below in dmesg.

I can't use "ubuntu-bug linux" because I get "It appears you are
currently running a mainline kernel. It would be better to report this
bug upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ so that the upstream kernel
developers are aware of the issue. If you'd still like to file a bug
against the Ubuntu kernel, please boot with an official Ubuntu kernel
and re-file.". IMHO that last advice would be a DTO (Defeating The
Objective), as this message does not appear in the 3.18.

[Bug 572521] Re: vertical coloured lines on bootup dell inspiron 1501 (still in 13.04)

2015-02-10 Thread Yu (Br) Shen
This problem of "vertical coloured lines on bootup dell inspiron 1501"
still presents with 14.04. I just upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04, in the
upgrade process the fix of adding radeon.nomodestet=1 at grub bootline
got lost, and the vertical colored stripes came back when booting up.
However, it seems that it seems it happened not as often.

I wish that the problem could be fixed. My laptop is a Dell INspiron
1501.

I read in the list that it has related to Unity? Is it true?

Thanks for your help!

[Bug 1420299] [NEW] [MIR] python-elasticsearch

2015-02-10 Thread Corey Bryant
Public bug reported:

Availability: Currently in universe
Rationale: Dependency for Openstack Ceilometer kilo-2
Security: No security history.
Quality Assurance: Package works out of the box with no prompting. There are no
major bugs in Ubuntu and there are no major bugs in Debian. Unit tests are run
during build. [1]
Dependencies: All are in main except python-pylibmc [2]
Standards Compliance: FHS and Debian Policy compliant.
Maintenance: Simple python package that the Ubuntu Server Team will take care
of.
Background: Python client for Elasticsearch - Official low-level client for
Elasticsearch. Its goal is to provide common ground for all
Elasticsearch-related code in Python; because of this it tries to be
opinion-free and very extendable.

[Bug 1419575] Re: WiFi not detected - Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hi Ian,

Thanks for submitting this bug report.

This is due to how the Linux Container (LXC) is set up for the Unity 8
session. A best practice for setting up LXC's is to use an Ethernet
bridge between the container and the host. This is how the unity8-lxc
is set up.

That said, I can look into seeing if it's possible to directly set up
the network from the Unity 8 session and if so, make sure it's sound as
far as LXC's go.

[Bug 1417909] Re: Container fails to start with error mounting /sys/fs/cgroup

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hi Serge,

Ok, I understand I can fix this issue by adding that line in my config.

However, my gripe now with this is that my configuration was working
with no issues prior to an update in LXC, then it broke for no apparent
reason. Why was it automounting /sys before and not now? Shouldn't
this be a default when pulling in
/usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf as I do in my config?

[Bug 1065974] Re: dmesg full of "ICMPv6 RA: ndisc_router_discovery() failed to add default route"

2015-02-10 Thread LaMont Jones
I believe that this happens because the config
(/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/accept_ra_defrtr) says to accept a default
route, and you have one specified in /etc/network/interfaces, and
therefore the advertised default route fails to get added to the routing
table.

It would be a good thing if the logged error (1) said what it was trying
to add as the default route, and (2) was rate limited, and (3) pointed
at accept_ra_defrtr

Having ifup turn off accept_ra_defrtr when it adds a default route might
be a good thing, too.

Just my thoughts.

[Bug 1419372] Re: After install completes, Xubuntu 14.04.2 hangs on reboot

2015-02-10 Thread Phillip Susi
I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the logs so my only guess is
that whatever error happened caused the disk to go read-only so the logs
could not be written, thus the only way to find out what went wrong is
to run dmesg and look.

[Bug 1315221] Re: 8086:08b1 (rev 6b) [Dell XPS 13 9333] iwlwifi regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-02-10 Thread Ethan Blanton
OK. 3.16.0-29 seems to be much better, but I just experienced the same
symptoms as for the logs (I believe) referred to in comment 77 above;
specifically, the machine lost association with the AP and could not
reestablish. Removing and reinserting the iwlmvm and iwlwifi modules
fixed the problem and I was able to reassociate (using Network Manager)
immediately.

Seth, I took a wifi-debug dump during the period when it would not
reassociate, let me know if you want it.

Oof. This package does not seem in good shape. Last Debian upload in
2011. Got removed from Debian testing due to unfixed RC bugs. Also,
it's in multiverse. So you're looking for a promotion to restricted?

Is there a way you could avoid depending on this package?
