[Bug 1420514] [NEW] scrollbar sees reduced mouse movement

2015-02-10 Thread Shahbaz Youssefi
Public bug reported:

I am not using overlay scrollbar, so just normal scrollbars.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

- Open a program with large scrollable content, where handle is small (for
example, a long pdf in evince, or even the sound volume scrollbar of
indicater-sound - It doesn't happen with Firefox)
- Take the scrollbar (left mouse press on scrollbar handle)
- **Very slowly** start moving the mouse for a second or two
- Move the mouse normally

Expected behavior: The scrollbar handle moves with the mouse with the
same speed

Observed behavior: The scrollbar handle moves with greatly reduced speed
compared to the movement of the mouse

[Bug 1199571] Re: Huge multi-threading violations in freetype

2015-02-10 Thread Brian Murray
This bug report is missing Stable Release Update information as
discussed at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. A test case
isn't strictly necessary for this bug report as there is at least one
crash report at the Ubuntu Error Tracker we can use to make sure the
version of the package being SRU'ed isn't appearing there.

[Bug 1417771] Re: juju-core vivid ppc64el fails to build

2015-02-10 Thread Curtis Hovey
** Description changed:

The vivid ppc64el builds are failing. The last success was on
2015-01.20. their first failure was on 2015-01-23.

We suspect that golang-go sets the wrong GOARCH in vivid.

We cannot see the build logs because Lp is a punk. The builds were in the
~juju-package stable and devel ppas
- https://launchpad.net/~juju-packaging/+archive/ubuntu/stable/+packages
-

https://launchpad.net/~juju-packaging/+archive/ubuntu/devel/+packages?field.name_filter=juju-corefield.status_filter=supersededfield.series_filter=vivid

  Using the source packages at

+
https://launchpad.net/~juju-packaging/+archive/ubuntu/stable/+packages?field.name_filter=juju-corefield.status_filter=publishedfield.series_filter=vivid

- We trued to build it in a vivid lxc on a ppc64el machine (stilson-07).
- the build failed at the first call to use the built juju. The first call
- is to generate the man pages using juju version and juju help
- commands debian/rules sets the GOPATH and then adds the GOPATH/bin to
- PATH. The build binaries were placed in $GOPATH/bin/linux__ppc64le, not
+ When we build in a vivid ppc64el container on (stilson-07). the build
+ failed at the first call to use the built juju. The first call is to

+ debian/rules sets the GOPATH and then adds the GOPATH/bin to PATH. The

The dpkg --print-architecture for both the host and the container are
ppc64el.
The host'ss go env shows GOARCH=ppc64
The container's go env shows GOARCH=ppc64le

I can contrive a successful build doing this
- GOARCH=ppc64 dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
+ GOARCH=ppc64 dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc

So we could change debian/rules, but we first need to understand if
GOARCH for vivid ppc64el is sane.

[Bug 1417220] Re: After upgrade from 12 to 14.04, suspend/resume doesn't work

2015-02-10 Thread proteus
Good news: I have updated the BIOS and now the suspend/resume works
again! Thank you!

At least I think it was the BIOS. I did perform a Ubuntu update one of
the past days out of habit - I should not have done it, to make sure
that only one thing is changed in the system - sorry for that.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was the BIOS, so this can be marked as not a
bug. Is there any other information that you need from my system before
closing this one?

This is important as any programs that are packaged so they can be used

Re: [Bug 1418671] Re: unity8-lxc-setup crashed with FileNotFoundError in __main__: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/lxc/unity8-lxc/rootfs/etc/hostname'

2015-02-10 Thread Agmenor
Hello!

`sudo unity8-lxc-setup` is now working for me too. I tried it until the
end of the download and the setup.
However, like before, launching the session from lightdm still doesn't
work. I reported it at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity8-preview-lxc/+bug/1420518.

Keep up the good work,
Agmenor

No relevent local data found - I will be downloading the whole file. If
that's not what you want, CTRL-C out. You should specify the local file is
the old version of the file to download with -i (you might have to decompress
it with gzip -d first). Or perhaps you just have no data that helps download

I then aborted because I'll do the download at some other point in the future.
At least the part where it was crashing before seems to have been fixed now.

[Bug 782997] Re: Lubuntu fails to install using USB on netbooks

2015-02-10 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Natty Narwhal reached EOL on 28
October 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

It could also be an issue with an error in the download of your ISO, or
in the copying to the installation media. Because of this, you will want
to verify the image (there's an option at the boot menu).

Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the
steps to recreate it so we can try again.

I will make this bug incomplete until this additional information is
obtained. Within 60 days, the bug will automatically expire.

Thanks again!

[Bug 1420528] [NEW] click scope search is sometimes case sensitive

Public bug reported:

I found a great new feature in the click scope search function today. I

Unfortunately, searching for Price:2.99 does not work. The prefix

Could we remove the case sensitivity here?

[Bug 1413084] Re: cvsps chokes on servers that print more than one M response to version command

2015-02-10 Thread Brian Murray
The debdiff could use a couple of changes, the package version should
not be 2.1-6build1+bug1413084.0 but rather 2.1-6ubuntu1. Additionally,
it'd be good if you were to follow the patch tagging guidelines at
http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/. This isn't as important for SRUs but
is very helpful when fixing bugs in the development release and adding
patches that will prevent automatic sync'ing.

[Bug 1292290]

2015-02-10 Thread Squalou-jenkins
(In reply to comment #1)
 Humm, works just fine here.

Super is a bit special with some keyboard mappings and is reported as both a
modifier and a regular key, I guess this is the source of your problem.

 I don't think it's a bug in xfwm4 (as I said, works just fine here, Fedora 13)

Strange.
I've got the super key mapped to other shortcut, (super v for vertical
maximize e.g. ) : it works fine.
If I use this working hortcut for maximise : this one does not work.

That's why I'd say it points to maximize issue.

Next time I login, I'll try Alt instead of Super, I'm pretty sure I
already did that but I prefer try again.

I just tried with Alt M shortcut : same result.
After reboot, the shortcut doesn't work anymore, even if it appears as
associated in the conf panel.

This confirms that - at least in my case, who knows why - the maximize
thing get disassociated after reboot, or is not correctl associated at
start.

But Alt F10 does not work either.

[Bug 1292290]

2015-02-10 Thread Olivier Fourdan
Humm, works just fine here.

Super is a bit special with some keyboard mappings and is reported as
both a modifier and a regular key, I guess this is the source of your
problem.

I don't think it's a bug in xfwm4 (as I said, works just fine here,
Fedora 13)

[Bug 1292290]

2015-02-10 Thread Olivier Fourdan
Yet there is nothing particular to the maximize shortcut, it's just one
of the shortcuts like the others.

What gives xfconf-query -c xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts -lv beffore and
after the reboot?

There is also a known issue with shortcuts being lost (see bug 5537).

[Bug 1292290]

2015-02-10 Thread Stephen Warren
Bug 4875 reports basically the exact same issue. It is marked as a
duplicated of bug 4695. Should this bug be marked as a duplicate too?

However, bug 4695 is more about the handling of multiple entries in the
keyboard shortcut config files with the same logical function not being
ideal. This bug and I think 4875 are more about the fact that xfce is
creating a keyboard shortcut file with duplicate entries in the first
place. Hence, I'm not sure if the duplicate marking is entirely correct.

For additional details, please see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-settings/+bug/992579

There I observe that xfce itself is creating this issue (it creates a
config file with both ALT-F7 and ALT-F10 pointing at
maximize_window_key; no user editing of the config file or use of xfconf
is needed to cause this issue). Quoting from that bug:

Strange. I believe the file /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-
xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml is the default content for
.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml,
and should be copied to it when Reset to defaults is executed in the
XFCE settings application.

However, /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-
shortcuts.xml does NOT contain entries for both ALT-F7 and ALT-F10 being
set to maximize_window_key (it just has an entry for ALT-F10), yet
Reset to defaults DOES recreate this issue in the user's
.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml.
It seems like something in the application code rather than the default
settings file is causing this problem.

[Bug 1292290]

2015-02-10 Thread Squalou-jenkins
I'm using Archlinux, which provides version 4.6.2 of Xfwm4,
so I apologize if this is no more relevant.

What happens : I bind the keyboard shortcut super m to the maximize function.
It works juste fine.

If I reboot (or leave the session), next time the shortcut won't work.

In the configuration panel, the shortcut appears as if correctly set,
but it is not working.

Other shortcut work fine.
I tried another key cmbination : same problem.
I tried the super m for another shortcut : it works.

So it narrows the issue to the maximizeé thing.

Thank you,

regards

Oof. This package does not seem in good shape. Last Debian upload in

[Bug 1419695] Re: Should default to --user to not fail default pip install usage

2015-02-10 Thread Donald Stufft
We're unlikely to ship a solution within a week, however we can likely
hammer out what solution we're going to go with and probably land
something in trunk so that Ubuntu isn't different/broken it's just ahead
of the curve.

I wish y'all had reached out to us so we could have prioritized the
issue, it looks like this was decided to happen ~4 months ago which
would have been a great time to come to us and say that Ubuntu needs a
solution to this issue by X date. We haven't made a lot of progress on
the issue because it's a thorny issue with a lot of far reaching
complications and while it should be fixed it's at least not flat out
broken and the current behavior as well understood. At the same time
there were other, lower hanging fruit which were places where there were
actual broken pieces of behavior.

A side comment by someone who wasn't involved in the change is not a
great way to find out that Ubuntu broke a fairly major use case by
default, especially given that there's only a week or so to figure out a
good solution before the feature freeze. It's obviously too late to do
anything about it in this case besides us (pip) change gears and try to
quickly hammer out a solution in time. However I would suggest that
things will be better for everyone involved if engaging upstream is
treated as the first step to these things and is done early in the
process instead of being done after the fact, if at all. Doing it the
other way makes upstreams like myself feel like we have to try and
monitor all of the downstream distributors for breaking changes to try
and protect our users.

2015-02-10 Thread houkouonchi
Well it was downburst which is a tool I maintain but the problem is that
if you have a program that will pull from pypi for dependencies (and you
have libvirt-python) listed as a dependency, (like in this case) then it
won't be able to detect you already have the python bindings installed
from a system package but instead it will try to download the newest
libvirt-python from pypi.

This is problematic for multiple reasons. Since you are using a version
of libvirt that is maintained by your distribution then its probably
better to just use the same version of python bindings of your installed
version of libvirt (IE python-libvirt) rather than try to use bleeding
edge from pypi (which likely will fail to build anyway against your old
version of libvirt).

I am not sure why you wouldn't want the egg info file installed so
things like pypi can detect you already have a version installed. Trusty
has the egg-info file and this is not an issue on trusty (just
precise).

7.8.2-0ubuntu1) -nw -nx -data-directory
/root/gdb-7.8.2/build/objdir/gdb/testsuite/../data-directory

Package: gdb-7.8.2-0ubuntu1

I've reproduced the tests and looking at gdb.log, noticed that for some
reason breakpoints for main() are being hit in an unexpected place and
this is causing a lot of testcase failures. Also, this problem happens
only when using gcc 4.9 (Ubuntu 15.04 default); it's not reproducible on
gcc 4.8 or 5. This is still being investigated.

Moreover, in the gdb.python/python.exp specifically, there is this
commit 55cfb2c4c8accd5031fd7c8167988fc4624e847c from upstream gdb that
fixes the testcase, removing 19 of the unexpected failures.

I've created this testcase that exemplifies the issue with the
'breakpoint main' hit the unexpected place:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cat array.c
int main (void)
{
  int array[1];

  return 0;
}
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gcc array.c -g -o array-4.9
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gdb -q ./array-4.9 -ex 'break main' -ex run
Reading symbols from ./array-4.9...done.
Breakpoint 1 at 0x160c: file array.c, line 3.
Starting program: /home/ubuntu/array-4.9

Breakpoint 1, main () at array.c:3
3   {
(gdb)

While with gcc-4.8, gdb stops at the expected place:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gcc-4.8 array.c -g -o array-4.8
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gdb -q ./array-4.8 -ex 'break main' -ex run
Reading symbols from ./array-4.8...done.
Breakpoint 1 at 0x15a0: file array.c, line 6.
Starting program: /home/ubuntu/array-4.8

Breakpoint 1, main () at array.c:6
6 return 0;
(gdb)

Comparing the assembly output generated by both gcc's, we can also
notice a repeated '.loc 1 3 0' in the code that seems to cause this
misplaced breakpoint:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gcc array.c -g -o array-4.9.s -S
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cat array-4.9.s
(...)
main:
.LFB0:
.file 1 array.c
.loc 1 3 0
.cfi_startproc

addi 2,2,.TOC.-0b@l

std 0,16(1)
std 31,-8(1)
stdu 1,-64(1)

.cfi_offset 31, -8

.cfi_def_cfa_register 31
.loc 1 3 0 -- repeated .loc
ld 9,-28688(13)

cmpld 7,10,9
li 10,0
li 9,0
beq 7,.L3
bl __stack_chk_fail
nop
.L3:
(...)

If this additional .loc is removed, gdb is able to hit the breakpoint at the
correct place.
Moreover, it might be worth mentioning that this additional .loc doesn't appear
on gcc-5 output too, where this breakpoint issue is not reproducible as well.

[Bug 1308105]

2015-02-10 Thread Steve Dodier-Lazaro
Raj,

Thanks for clarifying. There might have been several sources of crashes
in the same report.

Could the people who commented on this report test whether
Xfce4-Settings git (hence with Olivier's recent fix) + Alexander's patch
work well for them?

Olivier, André: would you like to take ownership of this bug and push
whichever additional patch is required?

[Bug 1271975] Re: Compiz related non-specific (Compiz application closed unexpectedly due to error)

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
honeybuntu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have
apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the
automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a
new report, you would be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1271805] Re: vertical coloured lines on boot

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Lostground, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Saucy
reached EOL on July 17, 2014.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Is this an issue on a supported release?
