[Bug 782997] Re: Lubuntu fails to install using USB on netbooks
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Natty Narwhal reached EOL on 28 October 2012. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases It could also be an issue with an error in the download of your ISO, or in the copying to the installation media. Because of this, you will want to verify the image (there's an option at the boot menu). Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again. I will make this bug incomplete until this additional information is obtained. Within 60 days, the bug will automatically expire. (In reply to comment #1) Humm, works just fine here. Super is a bit special with some keyboard mappings and is reported as both a modifier and a regular key, I guess this is the source of your problem. I don't think it's a bug in xfwm4 (as I said, works just fine here, Fedora 13) Strange. I've got the super key mapped to other shortcut, (super v for vertical maximize e.g. ) : it works fine. If I use this working hortcut for maximise : this one does not work. That's why I'd say it points to maximize issue. I just tried with Alt M shortcut : same result. After reboot, the shortcut doesn't work anymore, even if it appears as associated in the conf panel. Yet there is nothing particular to the maximize shortcut, it's just one of the shortcuts like the others. What gives xfconf-query -c xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts -lv beffore and after the reboot? [Bug 1292290]
Bug 4875 reports basically the exact same issue. It is marked as a duplicated of bug 4695. Should this bug be marked as a duplicate too? However, bug 4695 is more about the handling of multiple entries in the keyboard shortcut config files with the same logical function not being ideal. This bug and I think 4875 are more about the fact that xfce is creating a keyboard shortcut file with duplicate entries in the first place. Hence, I'm not sure if the duplicate marking is entirely correct. For additional details, please see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-settings/+bug/992579 There I observe that xfce itself is creating this issue (it creates a config file with both ALT-F7 and ALT-F10 pointing at maximize_window_key; no user editing of the config file or use of xfconf is needed to cause this issue). Quoting from that bug: Strange. I believe the file /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel- xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml is the default content for .config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml, and should be copied to it when Reset to defaults is executed in the XFCE settings application. However, /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard- shortcuts.xml does NOT contain entries for both ALT-F7 and ALT-F10 being set to maximize_window_key (it just has an entry for ALT-F10), yet Reset to defaults DOES recreate this issue in the user's .config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml. It seems like something in the application code rather than the default settings file is causing this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292290 Title: [SRU] Window manager keybindings don't work after reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfwm4/+bug/1292290/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm using Archlinux, which provides version 4.6.2 of Xfwm4, so I apologize if this is no more relevant. What happens : I bind the keyboard shortcut super m to the maximize function. It works juste fine. If I reboot (or leave the session), next time the shortcut won't work. In the configuration panel, the shortcut appears as if correctly set, but it is not working. Other shortcut work fine. I tried another key cmbination : same problem. I tried the super m for another shortcut : it works. So it narrows the issue to the maximizeé thing. [Bug 1419695] Re: Should default to --user to not fail default pip install usage
We're unlikely to ship a solution within a week, however we can likely hammer out what solution we're going to go with and probably land something in trunk so that Ubuntu isn't different/broken it's just ahead of the curve. I wish y'all had reached out to us so we could have prioritized the issue, it looks like this was decided to happen ~4 months ago which would have been a great time to come to us and say that Ubuntu needs a solution to this issue by X date. We haven't made a lot of progress on the issue because it's a thorny issue with a lot of far reaching complications and while it should be fixed it's at least not flat out broken and the current behavior as well understood. At the same time there were other, lower hanging fruit which were places where there were actual broken pieces of behavior. A side comment by someone who wasn't involved in the change is not a great way to find out that Ubuntu broke a fairly major use case by default, especially given that there's only a week or so to figure out a good solution before the feature freeze. It's obviously too late to do anything about it in this case besides us (pip) change gears and try to quickly hammer out a solution in time. However I would suggest that things will be better for everyone involved if engaging upstream is treated as the first step to these things and is done early in the process instead of being done after the fact, if at all. Doing it the other way makes upstreams like myself feel like we have to try and monitor all of the downstream distributors for breaking changes to try and protect our users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419695 Title: Should default to --user to not fail default pip install usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pip/+bug/1419695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1379585] Re: python-libvirt lacks egg-info on precise
Well it was downburst which is a tool I maintain but the problem is that if you have a program that will pull from pypi for dependencies (and you have libvirt-python) listed as a dependency, (like in this case) then it won't be able to detect you already have the python bindings installed from a system package but instead it will try to download the newest libvirt-python from pypi. This is problematic for multiple reasons. Since you are using a version of libvirt that is maintained by your distribution then its probably better to just use the same version of python bindings of your installed version of libvirt (IE python-libvirt) rather than try to use bleeding edge from pypi (which likely will fail to build anyway against your old version of libvirt). I am not sure why you wouldn't want the egg info file installed so things like pypi can detect you already have a version installed. Trusty has the egg-info file and this is not an issue on trusty (just precise). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1379585 Title: python-libvirt lacks egg-info on precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1379585/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, this problem happens only when using gcc 4.9 (Ubuntu 15.04 default); it's not reproducible on gcc 4.8 or 5. This is still being investigated. Moreover, in the gdb.python/python.exp specifically, there is this commit 55cfb2c4c8accd5031fd7c8167988fc4624e847c from upstream gdb that fixes the testcase, removing 19 of the unexpected failures. I've created this testcase that exemplifies the issue with the 'breakpoint main' hit the unexpected place: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cat array.c int main (void) { int array[1]; return 0; } ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gcc array.c -g -o array-4.9 ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gdb -q ./array-4.9 -ex 'break main' -ex run Reading symbols from ./array-4.9...done. Breakpoint 1 at 0x15a0: file array.c, line 6. Starting program: /home/ubuntu/array-4.8 Breakpoint 1, main () at array.c:6 6 return 0; (gdb) Comparing the assembly output generated by both gcc's, we can also notice a repeated '.loc 1 3 0' in the code that seems to cause this misplaced breakpoint: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gcc array.c -g -o array-4.9.s -S ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cat array-4.9.s (...) main: .LFB0: .file 1 array.c .loc 1 3 0 .cfi_startproc 0: addis 2,12,.TOC.-0b@ha addi 2,2,.TOC.-0b@l .localentry main,.-main mflr 0 std 0,16(1) std 31,-8(1) stdu 1,-64(1) .cfi_def_cfa_offset 64 .cfi_offset 65, 16 .cfi_offset 31, -8 mr 31,1 .cfi_def_cfa_register 31 .loc 1 3 0 -- repeated .loc ld 9,-28688(13) std 9,40(31) li 9,0 .loc 1 6 0 li 9,0 .loc 1 7 0 mr 3,9 ld 10,40(31) ld 9,-28688(13) cmpld 7,10,9 li 10,0 li 9,0 beq 7,.L3 bl __stack_chk_fail nop .L3: (...) [Bug 1271975] Re: Compiz related non-specific (Compiz application closed unexpectedly due to error)
honeybuntu, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report. Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding.
