[Bug 1557248] Re: OpenLDAP: Backport a fix for use-after-free in GnuTLS-related code

2016-03-24 Thread Maciej Puzio
I have just found that Howard Chu of OpenLDAP team had already uploaded this
patch to Launchpad VCS:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/openldap/master/revision/20757
Hopefully we will have the package released soon.

[Bug 1561703] [NEW] Auto choose container type when none is given

2016-03-24 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

When the "-t"/"--type" option is not given during the create operation,
libertine-container-manager should auto choose the type based on the
running kernel.

For kernel version < 3.13, chroot type should be used.

[Bug 1560583] Re: reading /sys/kernel/security/apparmor/profiles requires CAP_MAC_ADMIN

2016-03-24 Thread Tyler Hicks
I spoke with John in IRC. While he still doesn't like the two patches
that were written to fix this bug, he understands the reasoning.

They're needed for 16.04 so do not revert them.

In a future release, we'll do a more complete lock down of the
apparmorfs profiles file and apparmorfs profile directory to satisfy the
goal that John has.

[Bug 1561719] [NEW] xenial server install keyboard layout broken

2016-03-24 Thread zoolook
Public bug reported:

Xenial server install doesn't allow to have US English keyboard layout
when location is Argentina.

I live in Argentina but I usually configure my servers install with the
following options:

Language: English
Country: other
Location: South America, Argentina
Locales: United States
Keyboard: English (United States)

This allows me to configure my servers with English US layout (faster
and better than Spanish layouts, at least for administration and coding)
and at the same time have the correct time zone (Buenos Aires,
Argentina).

In Xenial I can do all except for keyboard layout where the only layout
in English (Cameroon).

I have to install with Spanish layout and change it to English after the
installation is complete. No big deal actually, but I prefer the
previous behavior.

Thanks.

[Bug 1522422] Re: Update to php 7.0

2016-03-24 Thread Nish Aravamudan
@bhat3, @colan,

Thank you very much for the feedback. I just submitted a debdiff in Bug
# 1544352 for drupal7 as it is in 16.04 to change the deps to PHP7. It
does work, in that I can setup a very basic instance and it ... runs :)
But I don't really have the bandwidth to test it further. While I
understand that upstream (drupal.org) may not mention these packages,
the goal is obviously for a distribution to provide a self-sufficient
instance. Would either of you be able to help test that version once it
lands and indicate which if any of the upstream patches are relevant?
Feel free to contact me offlist if need be. Thanks!

[Bug 1560202] Re: [LENOVO 80LM] suspend/resume failure

2016-03-24 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.5 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

2016-03-24 Thread Christian Dywan
For the record, how I finally reproduced the crash.
On the phone, with Silo 64 *correctly* installed, which at the time of #4 was
not the case:

QML2_IMPORT_PATH=:/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/payui ubuntu-app-test gdb
--batch -ex 'handle SIGILL nostop' -ex run -ex bt --args qmlscene
/usr/share/payui/qml/payui.qml purchase://com.zeptolab.cuttherope.full

On the desktop, with account-plugin-ubuntuone installed and
https://code.launchpad.net/~dobey/pay-service/payui-
uitk1.3/+merge/289421 applied (works with the pay-service package, no
full local build required):

QML2_IMPORT_PATH=$QML2_IMPORT_PATH:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/payui gdb
--batch -ex 'handle SIGILL nostop' -ex run -ex bt --args qmlscene
/usr/share/payui/qml/payui.qml purchase://com.zeptolab.cuttherope.full

The attached snippet is a standalone test case for the crash.

[Bug 1547133] Re: After automatically upgrading Xubuntu library libnss3 to version 2:3.21-0ubuntu0.15.10.1 some apps stop working

2016-03-24 Thread Marc Deslauriers
This is a bug in QtWebEngine.

The file
src/3rdparty/chromium/net/third_party/nss/patches/chacha20poly1305.patch
contains the following:

+/* This is a bodge to allow this code to be compiled against older NSS
+ * headers. */
+#ifndef CKM_NSS_CHACHA20_POLY1305
+#define CKM_NSS_CHACHA20_POLY1305 (CKM_NSS + 26)

Unfortunately, CKM_NSS + 26 got used for something else in nss 3.21:
#define CKM_NSS_TLS_EXTENDED_MASTER_KEY_DERIVE_DH (CKM_NSS + 26)

In nss 3.23, we now have:
#define CKM_NSS_CHACHA20_POLY1305   (CKM_NSS + 28)

This means QtWebEngine isn't using the right value.

To fix this, QtWebEngine needs to be patched to use the proper value of CKM_NSS
+ 28 in the following files:
src/3rdparty/chromium/net/socket/ssl_client_socket_nss.cc
src/3rdparty/chromium/net/third_party/nss/patches/chacha20poly1305.patch
src/3rdparty/chromium/net/third_party/nss/ssl/ssl3con.c
src/3rdparty/chromium/third_party/nss/patches/nss-chacha20-poly1305.patch
src/3rdparty/chromium/third_party/nss/nss/lib/util/pkcs11n.h

Once that is done and QtWebEngine is rebuilt, I believe it will be compatible
with nss 3.21 and 3.23.

I am closing this bug since the product using QtWebEngine is not in
Ubuntu and there is no further action to be done.

[Bug 1561627] Re: After days of uptime, apps do not receive position updates.

2016-03-24 Thread Thomas Voß
I'm not questioning if you are observing an issue. I'm trying to track down
the issue
as fast as possible hence why I'm asking for data to narrow down the error
condition.

I just flashed a Krillin with latest rc-proposed and will use it over
the next couple of days.

 * Do you happen to remember how many days of uptime we are talking about?
 * Did you have the phone in active use? Did the battery level ever become
critically low?

[Bug 1561712] [NEW] EFI doesn't show multiple installs of the same operating system

2016-03-24 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

STEPS:
1. Install 14.04 on a fresh vm/hdd
2. Drop into the efi system and ensure there is an entry for it
3. Now install 16.04 along side it (For example an experiment on hardware for
if it is safe to upgrade)
4. Now check the efi system again

EXPECTED:
All versions should be visible in the efi system

ACTUAL:
Because both the systems install the same files to the same folder in the EFI
system the 16.04 install overrides the 14.04 efi install, this means if you
remove the 16.04 install because for example it isn't suitable for your system
you can nolonger boot 14.04 either because there is only a grub boot entry and
not an efi entry anymore.

SUGGESTION:
Tag efi entries with at least a timestamp and maybe the version. This will
give each ubuntu efi entry a unique entry and mean both are bootable even if
one is removed.

[Bug 1560583] Re: reading /sys/kernel/security/apparmor/profiles requires CAP_MAC_ADMIN

2016-03-24 Thread John Johansen
To clarify "necessary to open up".

1. the old behavior was wrong. It allowed introspection of policy in situation
that it should not have.
2. In order to open up the profiles file so that more than the system root
could introspect it, DAC restrictions needed to be removed and the permission
checking of what is allowed needed to be moved fully into apparmor. Since there
was not time for fine grained mediation in the first iteration, the tightest
restriction with original intent was used.

That is that only the policy admin is allowed fully view of loaded
policy. This can be opened up with further development but is the
original intent of how policy introspection was supposed to work (hence
#1 noting that implementation was flawed and wrong).

[Bug 1460750] Re: Virtual network (vboxnet0) down after resume from suspend

2016-03-24 Thread Ibrahim Awwal
There's an upstream issue thread, and a workaround is here:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/13873#comment:17

But the issue is apparently actually a NetworkManager issue, so this
should possibly be cross posted or moved? Not sure how to do that, but
just wanted to post here so that others can find the fix more easily.

[Bug 1561698] [NEW] Build hangs on s390x

2016-03-24 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

The build reproducibly hangs on the buildds on s390x.

It's always at the same place, in the "642026" test.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/glib/tree/glib/tests/642026.c

I don't think it's this testsuite that is at fault though - the same
thing builds on other Ubuntu architectures and for Debian s390x.

The last successful build was 2.47.6-1 which used "Kernel version: Linux
z13-019 4.3.0-6-generic #17-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 11 21:29:24 UTC 2016
s390x"

and the latest failure was 2.47.92-1 "Kernel version: Linux z13-012
4.4.0-15-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 18 19:07:12 UTC 2016 s390x".

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1366546 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366546

Laney do you have an entry in /boot/efi/EFI/boot/bootx64.efi there is a
bug in the efi firmware which means if this file is missing it
effectively can not see your partition. when you manually add an entry
it will stay till the boot partition is triggered like on the usb
pendrive.

Re: [Bug 1561627] After days of uptime, apps do not receive positionupdates.

2016-03-24 Thread costales
The battery is perfect (98% and 45% of average).

The phone is coming from a fly mode in the night.

There is not a number of days. Something is affecting it (maybe network?)
and when you open an application, it didn't get a position.

The first time this happened was in March of the 2015 with HERE, it didn't
get a position and it needed a phone reboot.

I haven't a behavior for reproduce, I am sorry. I will try to use the tool
you mentioned and if it is happening again to me, I'll not restart for
analize it :)

[Bug 1557612] Re: evolution: e-data-server Error opening directory '/usr/lib/evolution-data-server/credential-modules'

2016-03-24 Thread Thiago Martins
I'm facing this problem too... But I am unable to install the package,
look:

---
$ sudo apt install evolution-data-server-online-accounts
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  mir-client-platform-mesa4 mir-graphics-drivers-desktop
mir-platform-graphics-mesa-kms8 mir-platform-graphics-mesa-x8
mir-platform-input-evdev5 qtubuntu-desktop
  ubuntu-application-api3-desktop
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  address-book-service address-book-updater buteo-sync-plugins-contacts-google
qtcontact5-galera qtdeclarative5-ubuntu-telephony0.1 unity8
unity8-desktop-session-mir
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  evolution-data-server-online-accounts
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 7 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 33.6 kB of archives.
After this operation, 9,486 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] ^C
---

It tries to uninstall Unity8, which I'm experimenting / using now.

 So, what to do?

Thiago

2016-03-24 Thread Viktor Pálinkás
Hi There,

In the meantime I did install more updates as BETA is freezed now and my
current kernel is:
4.4.0-14-generic

Since then my issue did not happen so far. If it does I'll resubmit the bug
report and try the 4.5 kernel.

Thank you,
Viktor

[Bug 1561762] Re: [FFe] AppArmor 2.11 Beta 1 for policy namespace stacking and bug fixes

2016-03-24 Thread Tyler Hicks
As part of the upstream AppArmor project requirements, we've already
performed considerable testing when cutting the upstream release.
However, we're still doing testing to complete the Ubuntu test plan
defined here:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor

When that is complete, I'll post the final details/results and subscribe
the release team.

** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu)
   Importance: High => Critical

** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Tyler Hicks (tyhicks)

** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => In Progress
