[Bug 1567589] [NEW] New qjackctl version breaks OOTB use of pulseaudio-module-jack
Public bug reported: In the past, qjackctl was shipped with Enable D-bus interface enabled. In the latest version, This option's meaning has changed :P to mean enable dbus interface to qjackctl rather than the old meaning of use jackdbus rather than jackd. The new version (April 6 2016) has a new option "Enable JACK D-Bus interface" which does not seem to be selected by default. As the ubuntu version of qjackctl already changes setting from default (48k is default to 44.1k?) setting this option to selected should be patched as well. To be as clear as possible. The expected result of starting Jack with qjackctl is that pulseaudio will automatically load module-jack-sink and module-jack-source via the module-jackdbus-detect module. This no longer happens. To restore this the default setting for qjackctl needs to change to have "Enable JACK D-Bus interface" enabled. [Bug 1566657] Re: [apt] implement --yes
The apt(8) manpage doesn't list any options (okay, it mentions a selected few, but it has no long list like the other manpages). It lists only subcommands like 'install' or 'show' and refers the reader to the manpage of apt-get or apt-cache or whatever for details because repeating the very same options would not only be a big duplication, but also a freaking long manpage nobody will ever read AND it will also be confusing because the hundreds of options in such a manpage would apply each only to a selected few of the subcommands. So, yeah, the user will have to read the manpages of the underlying applications he or she is pointed to be the apt manpages – but given the potential alternative of lumping all manpages into a single big one, that feels like a feature. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566657 Title: [apt] implement --yes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1566657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1532226] Re: A significant number of fresh boots or restarts result in no menus for most apps
Marco, The bug has been mystically fixed for me after I added and removed the ~/.config/upstart/unity-panel-service.conf I made exactly these steps. 1. Added the file from http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/15670770/ 2. Made a reboot. 3. Tested the menus. They did not appear. 4. Removed the file. 5. Made a log off. The system logged in without asking a password as usual. Still no menus. 6. Made a reboot. 7. Manus appeared and not the issue is fixed. The menus always appear after startup without needing to restart unity or a log off. [Bug 1567615] [NEW] Trusty update to v3.13.11-ckt38 stable release
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch. [Bug 1564058] Re: [MIR] liblouisutdml
Availability: - Currently in the Ubuntu Universe archive Rationale: - Use by the Braille embosser support which got recently added to cups-filters. There it will be used alternatively to liblouis. In contrary to liblouis it does not only translate the plain text content of the input files into Braille but also format and layout information will be expressed in the Braille output. Security: - No known CVEs about this package; no SUID/GUID binaries, no binaries in /usr/sbin/, no daemons or services. no ports opened at all, input and output only via files and stdin/stdout. The executable file2brl is started as the "lp" system user of CUPS, not by root. Quality assurance: - When the package is installed, the filters for the Braille embosser detect the presence of file2brl automatically and use it then. - Manual conversion via direct call of file2brl is also possible. - Package installation does not ask debconf questions - No recent bugs reported on this package - Package is maintained in Debian and regularly updated there. Ubuntu auto-syncs it. - Package supports all Braille embossers, so it is a general accessibility package and not a driver for some rare hardware models. - Test suite is failing and overridden in debian/rules. - debian/watch file is present. UI - Text mode/command line utility with man page, no GUI Dependencies - All build and runtime dependencies are already in Main Standards compliance - Claims Debian standards compliance 3.9.7 in debian/control - Files in the binary packages follow FHS and Debian standards Maintenance - Package synced with Debian and regularly updated there. Ubuntu bug contatc is currently the Ubuntu Printing Team, will probably get moved to accessibility team. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1564058 Title: [MIR] liblouisutdml To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/liblouisutdml/+bug/1564058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04.4 and SRIOV settings. [Bug 1561598] Re: Missing link to opencryptoki library by libopencryptoki0 package
To compile against system library and headers, one needs a -dev package, if available. Compiling and linking against the .so from the -dev package, will gain a shared library dependeny on the sonamed library (e.g. .so.0 in this case). This is exactly the same how all -dev and runtime packages work on Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, Suse, etc. This is considered normal, you can find further developer documentation at the Ubuntu Packaging guide, shared libraries section - http://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/libraries.html E.g. when building C apps/libraries that link with OpenSSL one installs libssl-dev. The resulting/produced binaries gained a dependency on libssl1.0.0 and only the runtime package needs to be installed on the deployed systems. Similarly, if one uses dlopen() one should dlopen() libraries with a soname, e.g. "libfoo.so.0". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1561598 Title: Missing link to opencryptoki library by libopencryptoki0 package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opencryptoki/+bug/1561598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1565841] Re: Provide zfcpdump-infrastructure with Ubuntu 16.04
/lib/s390-tools/zfcpdump/zfcpdump_part.rd is already provided. I'm not sure if that is the same as the required /lib/s390-tools/zfcpdump/zfcpdump.rd or not. /lib/s390-tools/zfcpdump/zfcpdump.image is not created yet, but we are working with kernel team on it. The kernel for release has frozen however, thus this will come in as an SRU unless we can get that in via other means. ** Changed in: s390-tools (Ubuntu Y-series) Assignee: (unassigned) => Dimitri John Ledkov (xnox) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Whitcroft (apw) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Y-series) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Whitcroft (apw) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1565841 Title: Provide zfcpdump-infrastructure with Ubuntu 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1565841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1567557] [NEW] Performance degradation of "zfs clone" when under load
Public bug reported: I've been running some scale tests for LXD and what I've noticed is that "zfs clone" gets slower and slower as the zfs filesystem is getting busier. It feels like "zfs clone" requires some kind of pool-wide lock or something and so needs for all operations to complete before it can clone a new filesystem. A basic LXD scale test with btrfs vs zfs shows what I mean, see below for the reports. The test is run on a completely dedicated physical server with the pool on a dedicated SSD, the exact same machine and SSD was used for the btrfs test. The zfs filesystem is configured with those settings: - relatime=on - sync=disabled - xattr=sa So it shouldn't be related to pending sync() calls... The workload in this case is ultimately 1024 containers running busybox as their init system and udhcpc grabbing an IP. The problem gets significantly worse if spawning busier containers, say a full Ubuntu system. === zfs === root@edfu:~# /home/ubuntu/lxd-benchmark spawn --count=1024 --image=images:alpine/edge/amd64 --privileged=true Test environment: Server backend: lxd Server version: 2.0.0.rc8 Kernel: Linux Kernel architecture: x86_64 Kernel version: 4.4.0-16-generic Storage backend: zfs Storage version: 5 Container backend: lxc Container version: 2.0.0.rc15 Test variables: Container count: 1024 Container mode: privileged Image: images:alpine/edge/amd64 Batches: 128 Batch size: 8 Remainder: 0 [Apr 3 06:42:51.170] Importing image into local store: 64192037277800298d8c19473c055868e0288b039349b1c6579971fe99fdbac7 [Apr 3 06:42:52.657] Starting the test [Apr 3 06:42:53.994] Started 8 containers in 1.336s [Apr 3 06:42:55.521] Started 16 containers in 2.864s [Apr 3 06:42:58.632] Started 32 containers in 5.975s [Apr 3 06:43:05.399] Started 64 containers in 12.742s [Apr 3 06:43:20.343] Started 128 containers in 27.686s [Apr 3 06:43:57.269] Started 256 containers in 64.612s [Apr 3 06:46:09.112] Started 512 containers in 196.455s [Apr 3 06:58:19.309] Started 1024 containers in 926.652s [Apr 3 06:58:19.309] Test completed in 926.652s === btrfs === Test environment: Server backend: lxd Server version: 2.0.0.rc8 Kernel: Linux Kernel architecture: x86_64 Kernel version: 4.4.0-16-generic Storage backend: btrfs Storage version: 4.4 Container backend: lxc Container version: 2.0.0.rc15 Test variables: Container count: 1024 Container mode: privileged Image: images:alpine/edge/amd64 Batches: 128 Batch size: 8 Remainder: 0 [Apr 3 07:42:12.053] Importing image into local store: 64192037277800298d8c19473c055868e0288b039349b1c6579971fe99fdbac7 [Apr 3 07:42:13.351] Starting the test [Apr 3 07:42:14.793] Started 8 containers in 1.442s [Apr 3 07:42:16.495] Started 16 containers in 3.144s [Apr 3 07:42:19.881] Started 32 containers in 6.530s [Apr 3 07:42:26.798] Started 64 containers in 13.447s [Apr 3 07:42:42.048] Started 128 containers in 28.697s [Apr 3 07:43:13.210] Started 256 containers in 59.859s [Apr 3 07:44:26.238] Started 512 containers in 132.887s [Apr 3 07:47:30.708] Started 1024 containers in 317.357s [Apr 3 07:47:30.708] Test completed in 317.357s ** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1567557 Title: Performance degradation of "zfs clone" when under load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1567557/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The system is not a slow machine at all, relatively new server. I checked top and saw that CPU usage was not high. I seen similar problem like this before but CPU usage was high in the past. [Bug 1567539] [NEW] Failure to dump with trusty+3.16 on ppc64el
Public bug reported: Test case # sudo apt-get install linux-crashdump set USE_KDUMP=1 in /etc/default/kdump-tools echo 1 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq echo c | sudo tee /proc/sysrq-trigger It looks like there was insufficient memory devoted to the crash kernel. The defaults were used, and the kernel had 256G of ram, and only 2.6G were in use at the time of inducing the crash.
