[Bug 1579278] Re: Keep powersave CPU frequency scaling governor for CPUs that support intel_pstate
What has been done here is incorrect. The old "ondemand" script was modified so that if the intel_pstate driver was being used, and therefore "ondemand" did not exist, it would fall through to setting the "powersave" governor (refer to bug #1314643). Note that "powersave" with the intel_pstate CPU frequency scaling driver is NOT the same as "powersave" with the acpi-cpufreq CPU frequency scaling driver. The preferred governor with the intel_pstate driver is powersave. I'm saying that this: # more modern processors that support intel_pstate behave worse with # ondemand/powersave and should use performance if [ `cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu$FIRSTCPU/cpufreq/scaling_driver` = intel_pstate ]; then echo 'CPU supports intel_pstate, keeping "performance"' exit 0 fi is incorrect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579278 Title: Keep powersave CPU frequency scaling governor for CPUs that support intel_pstate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1579278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1610744] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - crash during installation
Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted the 16.04 installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use entire disk" guided install option. ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610744 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 - crash during installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1610744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

What was in your /etc/cups/client.conf (now /etc/cups/client.conf_bak)? [Bug 1624463] [NEW] The default gamepad config is quite unusable
Public bug reported: Using a generic PlayStation like game pad (Logitech Dual Action 2), the automatic configuration has major usability drawbacks: - The analog range is too short, making movement hard. In Super Smash Bros, characters don't jump diagonally. - C-buttons, instead of isolated as in the original console game pad, are placed in the second analog. This makes pressing buttons by accident a frequent issue. In Golden Eye camera movement prevents the game from been playable, where in Road Rash you frequently discard weapons permanently. - Z-trigger and Left-trigger are placed both in the left triggers of the game pad. But you usually need to press both simultaneously, where that placement only allows pressing one button at a time. The solution is this: - Ignore the console's native analog range, and choose a wider one. - Place C-buttons in the game pad triggers. - Place the Z-trigger in the regular button's side, where pressing the rest is usable. After testing thoroughly various configurations with multiple games, the following seems to be the one that responds better in any circumstance (config file): # The minimum absolute value of the SDL analog joystick axis to move the N64 controller axis value from 0. For X, Y axes. AnalogDeadzone = "338,338" # An absolute value of the SDL joystick axis >= AnalogPeak will saturate the N64 controller axis value (at 80). For X, Y axes. For each axis, this must be greater than the corresponding AnalogDeadzone value AnalogPeak = "21200,21200" # Digital button configuration mappings DPad R = "axis(4+) hat(0 Right)" DPad L = "axis(4-) hat(0 Left)" DPad D = "axis(5+) hat(0 Down)" DPad U = "axis(5-) hat(0 Up)" Start = "button(9)" Z Trig = "button(2)" B Button = "button(0)" A Button = "button(1)" C Button R = "button(5)" C Button L = "button(4)" C Button D = "button(7)" C Button U = "button(6)" R Trig = "button(3)" L Trig = "button(8)" Mempak switch = "" Rumblepak switch = "" # Analog axis configuration mappings X Axis = "axis(0-,0+)" Y Axis = "axis(1-,1+)" ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: mupen64plus-input-sdl 2.5-3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-36.55-generic 4.4.16 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Sep 16 17:36:29 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-01-25 (1329 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Release amd64 (20121017.5) SourcePackage: mupen64plus-input-sdl UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-08-05 (41 days ago) ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mupen64plus Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mupen64plus-input-sdl (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug third-party-packages xenial ** Changed in: mupen64plus-input-sdl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Also affects: mupen64plus Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624463 Title: The default gamepad config is quite unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1624463/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1553503] Re: multi monitors - black flashes or black screen when the mouse cursor leaves a monitor
Hello, 4.4.0-38 worked perfectly to me. Steps (for those as noob as me): - Enable "Pre-released updates" at "Software & Updates" from "System Settings". - Open a terminal window and execute: "sudo apt update" and then "sudo apt install linux-generic" Restart. That should do the trick. [Bug 1598300] Re: cups hang after a while
I have done some tests and have found a solution. Please try it out. Edit the file (with sudo): /lib/systemd/system/cups.socket adding a line ListenStream=631 in the "[Socket]" section. The file should look like this then: -- [Unit] Description=CUPS Scheduler [Socket] ListenStream=/var/run/cups/cups.sock ListenStream=631 [Install] WantedBy=sockets.target -- Now make sure that this does not produce any editor backup files, like /lib/systemd/system/cups.socket~ or /lib/systemd/system/cups.socket.backup. Remove such files now. Now restart systemd with the command sudo systemctl daemon-reload Now systemd does not only restart CUPS via the domain socket but also via port 631, meaning that it also gets started when trying to access via the web interface (or any other application which accesses only via port 631). Please try it out. If you do not want to wait everytime until CUPS stops by itself for doing the tests, you can stop it with sudo systemctl stop cups -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598300 Title: cups hang after a while To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1598300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1619886] Re: keybard shortcuts stopped working for switching workspaces
I got hit by this after running "apt update" this morning - I noticed Unity was one of the packages updated. I discovered a workaround on Ask Ubuntu: https://askubuntu.com/questions/819585/workplace-switcher-stopped- working-in-ubuntu-16-04 which led me to this bug. The work-around works for me. I also found that the "grid" features of unity no longer worked after this morning's update: dragging a window to the left or right edge of the screen no longer resized it to the "left-half" or "right-half" size (i.e. the full height of the screen, and half the width, snapped to the left or right edge). I enabled the "grid" setting in the "CompizConfig settings manager", which restored the feature, however I was prompted to decide about a number of keyboard shortcut conflicts. I mention this here because the symptoms occurred at the same time as this bug, and in the same area, therefore they might have the same root cause. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1619886 Title: keybard shortcuts stopped working for switching workspaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1619886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611738 Title: installaton unsuccessful , grup crashed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1611738/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1624320] Re: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries
The primary purpose of adding 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf is for client software that wants to do DNS resolution by itself instead of using NSS -- most notable example is Google Chrome, and third-party software which is statically linked (e. g. Go). However, other software like NetworkManager or isc-dhcp also calls resolvconf and adds name servers picked up by them -- as they don't talk to resolved directly, resolved reads their DNS servers *from* resolv.conf. But, software which does its own DNS lookups like the above have to do their own DNSSEC validation too -- you can't both chose to *not* use NSS *and* rely on NSS to do DNSSEC for you.. So, this is indeed a wart, but not easily fixed, and also not that important IMHO. Not using NSS is already broken to some degree, as you also ignore things like nss-{winbind,docker,ldap} etc. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624320 Title: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1624320/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
