[Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU)
My first attempt at reproducing this bug has failed. I am using an Nvidia Quadro K620 card in a desktop where I usually just use the integrated Intel graphics. And I have installed nvidia-375 375.66-0ubuntu1. The result is that Ubuntu 17.10 boots perfectly. VTs are using efifb. GDM and gnome-shell both start using Xorg automatically and the Wayland options have been hidden. Perhaps I would need to test a newer card that's more difficult for software support? Or perhaps something got fixed? @amri could you please remove 'nomodeset', enable integrated graphics in your BIOS, reboot and see if the problem persists? ** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705369 Title: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1705369/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1701499] Re: System often freezes or panics if I log in with Dell Dock WD15 connected
Unfortunately that turned out to be a fluke. I had two freezes on 4.11.12, and just a freeze a minute ago on fresh 4.13.rc3 installed from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/. No panics though. I noticed all these freezes have a few things in common: - they happen only when the dock is plugged in during logging into Ubuntu session; they don't happen if I plug in the dock after logging in. - they happen AFTER the ethernet connection through the dock is dropped and BEFORE it is reestablished after login - when the freeze happens, the network manager shows I have only wifi connection. If the system goes past reestablishing ethernet connection through the dock, everything works smoothly. Also suspend/resume with the dock connected is fine. Additionally, the dock seems to operate properly before I login. I never ever had a panic or freeze before logging into my account. The network manager icon shows the ethernet connection is active at the login screen. However, this connection is dropped immediately after logging in (why?) and re-established. I also noticed some rare instabilities in ethernet connectivity - sometimes it just drops the connection in the middle of the day and needs replugging (reconnecting from network manager doesn't work in this case). BTW: I updated the dock firmware to the most recent version from Dell. I had to use Windows for that. But this didn't help. ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1701499 Title: System often freezes or panics if I log in with Dell Dock WD15 connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1701499/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU)
Tried again, this time remembering to tell my BIOS not to auto-disable the integrated graphics, so now I have both: $ ls /dev/dri by-path card0 card1 renderD128 renderD129 But the outcome is the same. GDM and gnome-shell work perfectly with only the Nvidia card plugged in. They just allow Xorg sessions and hide the Wayland options. So it seems the relevant smarts are working in gdm. Hi, the problem still persist. Once I've turned off my pc, I had to reboot it several times, to have the wifi back. Cannot find the reason, because it happens randomly to me. Sometimes it works at the first boot, others I have to turn off/on the laptop several time to make it work. Sorry but I would like to avoid to mess up with the kernel since it "works" somehow... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1704287 Title: wifi on lenovo ideapad 310 does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1704287/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1707487] Re: Bluetooth speaker only plays as mono
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected xenial ** Description changed: When I connect my Sony SRS-X1 Bluetooth speaker to Ubuntu, it only plays back as "mono" and refuses to use "hi fidelity". I have Windows 10 installed on the same laptop and when I've used the Bluetooth speaker in Ubuntu, Windows will "forget" the speaker on its Bluetooth list. I have to hold in the "reset" button on the speaker itself and re-add the speaker to Windows 10. This ONLY HAPPENS if I try using this speaker in Ubuntu, which suggests that Ubuntu is forcing the speaker into "mono" mode and Windows then sees it as a different device? Please help. [Bug 1707611] [NEW] Sound does not automatically play on new audio device
Public bug reported: When connecting a HDMI cable or other audio device, the user must manually click on the "sound volume" in the top-right and switch to the newly connected device. [Bug 1706818] Re: mismatched file locking since 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3ubuntu1 causes race leaving ntp dead on reboot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I've confirmed that the issue is as you describe in Xenial. Trusty pre- dates the change to locking in ntp.if-up, so is consistent. Zesty is also consistent in using flock in both places, as is Artful. So this bug affects only Xenial. In order to understand the importance of this bug, please could you explain why you're using both ntp and ntpdate? ntpdate isn't installed by default on Xenial, and shouldn't be required in the normal case because ntp defaults to "-g". So you could work around this bug by just removing the ntpdate package. Is there a particular reason that this won't work in your case? ** Also affects: ntp (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706818 Title: mismatched file locking since 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3ubuntu1 causes race leaving ntp dead on reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/1706818/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1348902] Re: gnatbind error on aws-net-std__gnat.adb when using the installed package
This error shows up now and then after an upgrade of a dependency without change of the ALI version, as described in the Debian Policy for Ada.
