*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1726160 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1726160

I also faced the issue. The screen rotated 90 degrees. When I executed
the command `xrandr -o 0/1` i got the message `xrandr failed to change
screen configuration'.

[Bug 1725560] Re: OVMF UEFI firmware causes Windows 10 to not boot after upgrade

2017-11-03 Thread dann frazier
Ah, OK. I've moved this back to verification-needed.

Note that the version in artful-proposed is: 0~20170911.5dfba97c-
1ubuntu0.1. It doesn't appear that you have tested that one yet.

[Bug 1725560] Re: OVMF UEFI firmware causes Windows 10 to not boot after upgrade

2017-11-03 Thread Krupp
I tested it in the comment above. I guess what I was trying to show is
that I expected version 0~20170911.5dfba97c-1 to be in the proposed
repository, but by the time I got to test it, it came from the main
repository. I verified that version 0~20170911.5dfba97c-1 does not work
and have gone back to using the upstream version.

[Bug 1728012] Re: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change

2017-11-03 Thread staedtler-przyborski
Thanks Mariusz. Can you please specify which files are in /usr/lib/sane
(just to make the command below more precise) ?

To summarize we have now the following workarounds (all 64-bit):

1. Brother brscan3

a) 'sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib64/libbrscandec* /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu'
b) 'sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother*
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane'

2. Epson Iscan

a) 'sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa* /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane'
b) generate '/etc/udev/rules.d/79-udev-epson.rules'
content:
# chmod device EPSON group
ATTRS{manufacturer}=="EPSON", DRIVERS=="usb", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb",
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="*", MODE="0777"

3. Xerox Workcentre 3225

a) 'sudo ln -sfr /usr/lib/sane/* /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane'
b) 'sudo adduser $USER lp'

Ubuntu 17.10 fresh install

sudo apt-get install openvpn

The above command causes an indefinite terminal hang. And I have to
manually kill processes to get apt working again.

Here are the errors I receive after killing `sudo kill -9` processes
with `openvpn` in the name:

invoke-rc.d: initscript openvpn, action "cond-restart" failed.
   Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/openvpn.service
→ /lib/systemd/system/openvpn.service.
W: APT had planned for dpkg to do more than it reported back (30 vs 34).

[Bug 1728012] Re: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change

2017-11-03 Thread PeterPall
You are a genius! My MFC8510 and my Epson WorkForce GT-1500 now work fine...
...now we should forward this info to the sane programmers (perhaps they can
make the program look in both the old and the new locations), to Debian - and
to the manufacturers: Symlinks isn't hard to create in the postinstall scripts.
Perhaps they will add the necessary lines.

[Bug 1569995] Re: ACPI support Intel Cherry Trail

2017-11-03 Thread Justin
Update: I have fully tested on the latest release of Ubuntu (17.10)

It seems there has been some improvement. I can now suspend and shutdown
without a problem and the battery is recognized!

Stability is not quite what it should be though - sometimes gnome
becomes unresponsive and crashes and when I press the power button to
resume from standby it turns on only to go back to sleep right away.

The audio card seems to randomly disappear too. I have to open a
terminal and use Alsa to manually select and turn up the audio.

The battery indicator is good, but this still needs work.

[Bug 1730028] [NEW] logspam about Duplicate line for path "/var/log"

Similar to bug 1484027, but that's marked 'Fix released', so something

[Bug 1700827] Re: [MIR] pcp package

2017-11-03 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Frank, Ken, and Nathan,

Very nice work.

I'm impressed with the changes I see in the PCP repository. The changes
to address my feedback are thorough and thoughtful, and unrelated
changes were of universal high-quality. (I especially enjoyed the hanoi
and chains test loads!)

Eric, security team ACK for promoting pcp version 3.12.2 or any newer
version to main in Ubuntu.

Many thanks to everyone.

[Bug 1728012] Re: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change

2017-11-03 Thread Hans Schwimmbeck
I forgot to mention that also needed is something like
/etc/udev/rules.d/59-local.rules.
In my upgraded installation it has not changed since 16.04 and looks like this:
---
# Brother MFC-J220
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0259", MODE="0664",
GROUP="scanner", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"

---

Of course 'idProduct' has to match the local scanner model, 'lsusb' and
'sane-find-scanner' are your friends.

[Bug 1728778] Re: mouse not working(laptop) when i suspend it or lock it

2017-11-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please install 'evtest':

and then test your mouse before and after suspending by running:

   sudo evtest

Does evtest still show events after suspend when the cursor is frozen?

Also, do you mean touchpad rather than an external mouse?

[Bug 1724859] Re: Artful: Fix FTBS on test-rebuild due to glibc changes

2017-11-03 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Oh I see, this is one of the few where I uploaded (just) in time to
Artful, but I think it was lost in the opening of Bionic as it was not
yet from A-unaccepted to A-proposed.

Currently there is [1] in the Artful queue.

@Brian, lets sync on the right steps - I hope this is the right order then:
1. I upload 5.5.1-4ubuntu3 to B
2. someone cancels the 5.5.1-4ubuntu3 in A-unapproved
3. once 1. migrated and 2. is out of the queue I can upload an SRU (same
content as we already had) as 5.5.1-4ubuntu2.1

I did #1, somebody with the permissions to do so please do #2 (I'll ask
on #Ubuntu-release).
