[Bug 1706939] Re: A live session can't be shut down due to "[ *** ] (2 of 2) A start job is running for ... (21s / no limit)"

2018-04-03 Thread Iain Lane
This isn't a gdm3 bug, right?

If it's a systemd or systemd unit problem and it's still happening, we
probably need to provide some more information so that xnox or someone
can help and take a look. I tried and just booting a live session in a
VM and shutting it down works for me.

Can someone give clear reproduction steps, preferably for making this
happen in a VM?

If it only happens for some people for some reason, maybe an affected
person can get a journal log for this bug report:
https://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/Debugging/#index2h1 -
although it'll be a bit harder to get it out of the live session it
should be possible e.g. to mount a hard drive or a USB key or a 9p
shared volume using virt-manager (hopefully that last one works at late
shutdown).

[Bug 1760899] [NEW] Encrypted /tmp gets invalid access rights

2018-04-03 Thread Konstantin Boyandin
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 16.04.4

uname -a: Linux localhost 4.15.12-x86_64-linode105 #1 SMP Thu Mar 22
02:13:40 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

/dev/mapper/ctmp /tmp ext2 defaults,noatime,nofail 0 0

/usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf line (unchanged)

D /tmp 1777 root root -

Problem: after OS boots up, the permissions for /tmp are set to 755,
which breaks a number of services.

If I umount /tmp, permissions for it are 1777, as expected. If I set
permissions 1777 for mounted /tmp and reboot the system, it's again 755.

[Bug 1723914] Re: ubuntu-kvm-unit test failed with emulator test on ppc64le

2018-04-03 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
It generally looks good, there are some minor details but I can fix
those up when preparing the upload.

In this case it isn't much more than identifying the right upstream
change, but thanks a lot as this is often the most important part!

I plan to combine this with the fix for bug 1723904 which would allow
you to only run one verification for both.

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-04-03 Thread Toni Spets
The apparmor profile from libvirt doesn't seem to work, only tearing
down apparmor completely makes it tick. Getting that fixed for Ubuntu
would be a big help.

If you need to test this, use virt-manager with a user session and try
to use an existing bridge as the interface for a VM. You also need to
create /etc/qemu/bridge.conf with a single line consisting of 'allow
bridge0' depending on your interface name.

Will look into reporting the setuid bit not sticking to downstream but
it's less of an issue than the apparmor profile as it prevents me from
using apparmor right now.

Stating this does not make it true for the users who are consuming these
packages via the archive. If someone installs 'default-jre', then
hard-codes the openjdk-10 path in their usage, then applies security
updates, they end up not running the security-updated JRE, despite using a
package that's in main.

Then I believe the short path to this is to name it openjdk-11 version
10.x.

Also, linux-azure-edge will change to 4.15 soon and this conflict is
likely to go away then. It is not guaranteed that azure and azure-edge
won't have the same kernel at the same time.

When installing packages with a wildcard like this you are going to run
into conflicts with different tools packages that were made for
different kernels. You should pick the tools package that matches your
kernel stream.

[Bug 1760925] [NEW] CPU freezes when staring software manager

2018-04-03 Thread Thomas Terry
Public bug reported:

On a Pentium N3540, when trying to launch software install the entires
system freezes and a forced reboot is needed to restore the system. This
may be related to the bug that causes a Pentium CPU to freeze when
switching into power-save mode, but the Software Manager should not be
doing something that could crash the CPU. It could be caused by the fact
that the laptop does not have a graphics chip which could be causing the
software manager to call a rendering function that the CPU cannot
respond to.

2018-04-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.16 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1760435] Re: Use Ubuntu language packs for various Unity packages

2018-04-03 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I have added a bunch of other affected packages, whose templates I
reactivated and where there is a need to add "X-Ubuntu-Use-Langpack:
yes". I also reactivated the templates for:

indicator-appmenu
indicator-keyboard
indicator-printers

which already have "X-Ubuntu-Use-Langpack: yes".

So now I'd say that the affected packages are ready to be uploaded. Hey
Simon, are you there? ;)

[Bug 1759354] Re: 18.04 After suspend fan goes to max speed on resume, have to reset in bios

2018-04-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.16 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1750254] Re: Update fonts-cantarell to 0.100

2018-04-03 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I believe we don't want this in bionic because of the regressions
(particularly in Cyrillic).

Also, there was a Fedora complaint about spacing. I think Fedora 28 (May
2018) will even include the old Cantarell with plans to use the new one
for Fedora 29, unless Cantarell receives an improved version soon.

[Bug 1705345] Re: Installing packages hangs on plymouth --ping

2018-04-03 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello giacof, or anyone else affected,

Accepted plymouth into artful-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/0.9.2-3ubuntu19 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-artful to verification-done-artful. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-artful. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1638983] Re: Boot splash with luks password prompt broken after nvidia upgrade to 367

2018-04-03 Thread Zurd
Bug still present, even if you do not see your password at the screen,
you can still type it in, press enter, then type your user's password if
you do not have auto-login, press enter, I've done it multiple times and
I was able to log in, the screen will stay black a long time.

After this, to patch the bug just run in terminal:
sudo sed -i -e '/s/quiet splash//g' /etc/default/grub
