It's not upstream yet, the commit just hit our public tree at

It will be sent with the s390 fixes pull for v5.7-rc3.
I will check if applies cleanly to focal master-next.

2020-04-22 Thread Mike Salvatore
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Yes, Thanks Andreas, that's an important distinction. Although it IS
an MIR into Bionic, I'm afraid. The package does exist in Focal and
Eoan, so I think THAT much is an SRU to update those to the official
release version, but for Bionic, since it doesn't exist at all in
Universe there, I think that is an MIR? Or would that also fall under
SRU?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

English, since this is the language understood by the majority of Ubuntu
developers. Additionally, please only mark a bug as "security" if it
shows evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries or to
directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any

[Bug 1874279] [NEW] failed to boot focal image in maas: /root.tmp.img: can't open blockdev

2020-04-22 Thread Paul Larson
Public bug reported:

We have at least two systems in our lab that are seeing this problem. Both of
them are able to boot other images (bionic, etc) just fine, and at least one of
them was definitely booting focal earlier this week from the stream import in
maas. But now, whenever we try to provision them with the focal image, it fails
to boot for provisioning. I got someone to look at the console and take
pictures (no serial or bmc on these, sorry) and they were dropped to busybox on
boot. One error did jump out in dmesg:
/root.tmp.img: can't open blockdev

I'll also post the images of the screen for further details.

There are other devices that boot the image from maas just fine, but I
did try re-importing it just to be sure nothing was messed up with it.

The two systems we're having problems with at the moment are:
- Dell latitude 5758 i5-5200
- Dell latitude 5759 i5-6200
It's unknown yet whether there are others affected by this.

Aha, apologies, I misread your previous comment.

There has been special logic in update-manager for other cases before,
but this is not my area of expertise so I'll leave others to comment
further. :)

[Bug 1874278] [NEW] Can't install any packages with ubuntu-drivers using ubuntu-drivers when invoked from ubiquity

2020-04-22 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

We are in the process of switching ubuntu-drivers to installing linux-
restricted-modules versions of NVidia drivers when it can, but this
fails when Ubiquity invokes ubuntu-drivers, like:

Setting up linux-modules-nvidia-440-5.4.0-25-generic (5.4.0-25.29) ...

It's a problem with the nesting of debconf: Ubiquity itself is using
debconf, and ubuntu-drivers is installing -nvidia- packages which
themselves also use debconf, and we don't know how to connect ubuntu-
drivers use of debconf with the ubiquity one.

[Bug 1872259] Re: software-properties-gtk crashed with gi.repository.GLib.GError in __init__(): g-io-error-quark: Se alcanzó el tiempo de expiración (24)

[Bug 1869561] Re: Libreoffice Help does not work

2020-04-22 Thread Olivier Tilloy
It sounds like the problem is trying to open the local help custom UI,
instead of the expected behaviour (opening the local HTML help in a
browser). The debs produced by TDF do open the help in a browser, so
there is a functional discrepancy here that should be investigated.

[Bug 1870087] Re: Old broker lockfile blocks landscape-client starts

2020-04-22 Thread Daniel Manrique
It's probably the second issue Simon is working on (namely that manually
apt-get updating the client works but the client updating *itself* when
left to its own devices still doesn't). I'll move back to in progress
and there's indeed a branch proposed ATM.

[Bug 1874286] [NEW] Add a debian/rules target to compile/run kernel selftests

2020-04-22 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
When compiling and building the Ubuntu kernels, the kernel selftests located
under 'tools/testing/selftests/' do not get compiled. Some of these testcases
are used by our test infrastructure, which downloads the kernel source,
compiles and run them. The problem with this approach is that patches applied
to the testcases can break the compilation and this is detected only after the
kernels are already released to -proposed.

I am proposing that we add some simple debian/rules targets that will
keep a list of the selftests that Ubuntu cares about, compile and run
them. This could be plugged into our test build infrastructure in order
to be able to detect such breaks.

[Test Case]
With these changes, one would be able to run the following to compile/run the
selftests:

# fakeroot debian/rules clean
# fakeroot debian/rules compileselftests
# fakeroot debian/rules runselftests

[Regression Potential]
None. This only adds a new rules target that will not break any existing target.

[Bug 1874285] [NEW] [SRU] libreoffice 6.4.3 for focal

2020-04-22 Thread Heather Ellsworth
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

 * LibreOffice 6.4.3 is in its third bugfix release of the 6.4 line.
For a list of fixed bugs compared to 6.4.3 see the list of bugs fixed in the
two release candidates:
 https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/6.4.3/RC1#List_of_fixed_bugs
 https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/6.4.3/RC2#List_of_fixed_bugs
   (that's a total of 58 bugs)

 * Given the nature of the project, the complexity of the codebase and
the high level of quality assurance upstream, it is preferable to SRU a
minor release rather than cherry-pick selected bug fixes.

[Test Case]

 * No specific test case, bugs fixed upstream hopefully come with
unit/regression tests, and the release itself is extensively exercised
upstream (both in an automated manner and manually) by a community of
testers. Each minor release normally goes through two release
candidates.

 * The libreoffice packages include autopkgtests, those should be run
and verified to pass.

 * General smoke testing of all the applications in the office suite
should be carried out.

[Regression Potential]

 * A minor release with a total of 58 bug fixes always carries the
potential for introducing regressions, even though it is a bugfix-only
release, meaning that no new features were added, and no existing
features were removed.

 * A combination of autopkgtests and careful smoke testing as described
above should provide reasonable confidence that no regressions sneaked
in.

[Bug 1735347] Re: package exim4-daemon-light 4.89-5ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1865218

Actually, I think the plymouth issue is a side effect. I notice from
the dpkg history log that immediately prior to this issue, PHP was
upgraded, including mod-php. There is a known issue with mod-php
upgrades failing, and I suspect that is the root cause here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php7.4/+bug/1865218

If this is not the case, and if you're able to reproduce this problem in
Ubuntu 20.04 or newer, please file a new bug report and explain how the
issue can be reproduced.

[Bug 1872001] Re: 5.3.0-46-generic - i915 - frequent GPU hangs / resets rcs0

2020-04-22 Thread Andrea Righi
This looks similar to LP: #1861395

I've prepared a test kernel (5.3.0-48.41+lp1861395v1), backporting the
following fixes that seems to have fixed the problem in 5.4:

b1339ecac661 drm/i915/execlists: Always force a context reload when rewinding
RING_TAIL
f26a9e959a7b drm/i915/gt: Detect if we miss WaIdleLiteRestore
 22b7a426bbe1 drm/i915/execlists: Preempt-to-busy

Test kernel is available here:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~arighi/LP-1861395/5.3/

It'd be great if you could give it a try, thanks.

[Bug 1861235] Re: zfs recv PANIC at range_tree.c:304:range_tree_find_impl()

2020-04-22 Thread Colin Ian King
In this scenario, dmu_object_free has been called and this calls
dnode_free_range using dnode_free_range(dn, 0, DMU_OBJECT_END, tx)

In this case, in dnode_free_range len is DMU_OBJECT_ENDand offset is 0,
so..:

if (len == DMU_OBJECT_END) {
len = UINT64_MAX - off;
trunc = TRUE;
}

makes len is UINT64_MAX and trunc = TRUE. If one follows the code
through we have this stanza:

blkid = off >> blkshift;
nblks = len >> blkshift;
if (trunc)
nblks += 1;

and this is the last place nblks gets updated. This implies blkshift is
zero, nblks = UINT64_MAX >> 0 is UINT64_MAX, trunc is TRUE so nblks +=1
wraps nblks back to 0, hence the assert later on.

For blkshift to be zero blksz dn->dn_datablksz is zero, so this looks
like some form of corruption.

[Bug 1845801] Re: [nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail. Killing gnome-session-binary fixes it, or just not using automatic login.

2020-04-22 Thread suKo
Using an NVIDIA GTX 1080 on 20.04 with the latest daily image I can
confirm this bug still exists. Removing the "splash" option from the
/etc/default/grub file variable GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT seems to fix
the issue. I too encountered this with automatic boot enabled, and it
also occurs no matter which version of the NVIDIA driver I use (except
for the FOSS driver). Unusually, this does not occur on my laptop which
also has an NVIDIA GPU (in this case, a 1650).

[Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255] (Realtek)

2020-04-22 Thread Dominik
It also affects Linux Mint 19.3.
I had problems with audio also, so i had to add two lines:

echo "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0" | sudo tee -a
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
echo "blacklist snd_soc_skl" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

After executing these two commands audio is present again but still no
success with internal microphone. Fortunately i have detachable
microphone in my Creative Fatality headphones so after i have inserted
this microphone in microphone socket, microphone has appeared inside
pavucontrol and i am now able to record voice using this site: https
://online-voice-recorder.com/pl/ for example.

I have noticed that there are more discussions about this problem:

P.S. I have also tried to manually remap pins using: hdajackretask but
with no success.

[Bug 1874288] [NEW] Copy a screenshot of an area to clipboard prevents mouse click if used on modal UI elements

2020-04-22 Thread ambroisemaupate
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
---

- Register a keyboard shortcut to trigger a "Copy a screenshot of an area to
clipboard", i.e Shift+Ctrl+$
- Keyboard shortcut works fine and your mouse cursor becomes a cross-hair
- Now open a selectbox in Firefox Application, for example, or any UI item
capturing user input and try to trigger a screenshot in this state: for example
try to screenshot a HTML selectbox’ options
- At this moment, screenshot utility won’t change your mouse pointer into a
crosshair and a bug occurs which prevents gnome-shell to respond to any
mouse-click: I can’t click anymore on Dock icons, top bar actions and can’t
click on Applications which are not in focus (I have to use Super+Tab to give
focus to other applications)
- However, mouse "hover" is still captured by applications (I can see UI
tooltips appearing) but I can’t click anymore

For the moment, the only way to recover my mouse click is to reboot
Ubuntu or restart gnome-shell.

Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Release:20.04

[Bug 1495711] Re: df only shows one mountpoint

2020-04-22 Thread Bryce Harrington
I'm not able to reproduce this on focal, with multiple nfs mount points
mounted.

If it is still reproducible on newer versions of Ubuntu, can you provide
the full output of df, as well as log files /etc/fstab and /etc/exports
from the nfs server? The output of dmesg (from boot) from the client
may also give clues.

[Bug 1874286] Re: Add debian/rules targets to compile/run kernel selftests

2020-04-22 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
** Description changed:

- [Impact]
+ [Impact]

- [Regression Potential]
- None. This only adds a new rules target that will not break any existing
target.
+ [Regression Potential]

[Bug 843306] Re: df ignores fs type none in options

2020-04-22 Thread Bryce Harrington
Modern df lists the actual fs types for those 'none' devices. E.g.
udev, tmpfs, et al. I'm guessing the reason that '-x none' was not
excluding them in this old df version was because the type wasn't
literally 'none' but perhaps \0 or else was just not being displayed.

In any case, I no longer am reproducing this very old bug, so am closing
it out as fixed.

[Bug 1219529] Re: df -x tmpfs fails to exclude udev (/dev)

2020-04-22 Thread Bryce Harrington
20.04's coreutils still has the behavior described in this bug. /dev is
listed as type 'udev' by df but df -x udev does not exclude it; df -x
devtmpfs does.

I wonder if one way to at least resolve the confusion might be to make
the code that prints the table display devtmpfs devices as 'devtmpfs'.
An obvious alternative would be to make '-x udev' be handled like '-x
udev -x devtmpfs'. Another alternative would be to overload '-x tmpfs'
to exclude also udev and devtmpfs. It's not clear what the best
solution would be.
